Ok, I've had another look at this tonight. Being an idiot I got o/s and n/s mixed up, it's the wrong way round to me! My o/s mechanism isn't working and I can't see how cutting the plastic rad cover will create enough space to get my arm inside the bonnet far enough to reach it. I'm going to look from underneath the car tomorrow, hopefully it's not still hammering it down. In the meantime, the only other way I can think of getting to it is to smash the driver's side headlight, cut through the back of the light and then reach up to the mechanism! Would this work? Is it necessary? Obviously I don't want to do this if it won't help, however I am angry enough to smash it with my face right now I think! :censored:

ooh ooh!!! I can't believe I found this. I think I have one of the problems explained, the cable doesn't seem to operate the driver's side mechanism, it would be the one hardest to reach wouldn't it. Hopefully this is a god send, thanks a lot!

stop stop stop! I'm starting to miss the mk2 8v golf i just sold now! good run home from banbury today though, gotta keep remembering it! insane overtaking ability.

yea i'm fed up with the haynes manuals i've had before, i think i could have pretty much done most the work without them in retrospect and i've heard that mr bentley is quite good at them. abs difference is a bit of a blow as i don't have a lot of abs knowledge. there are some .pdf versions of it on ebay at the moment for £5.50. i'm tempted to try, then i could theoretically just print off relevant pages as and when i needed them, not as handy as a book sat in the garage though.

Mk2! I've just sold an 8v gti and it was awesome, i can't say i definitely wouldn't have another one even now i have a vr6. Dad has a 16v though and they are fun pieces of kit. Mk2 over mk3 any time i'd say. haven't driven a mk3 gti to be honest but i did have a 1.9 d mk3 as my 1st car, and having driven mk2's since, i know which i'd rather drive down a twisty road.

Is this different for the US spec or will it be the same for uk corrados do you know?

Looks very nice, paintwork looks great, although from experience looks can be deceiving. Sounds as if it's been quite well maintained though. And it's just shown me how gorgeous the tinted rear lights look on the dragon green colour, up till now I was debating if it was worth changing em or keeping the originals. Think I'm convinced. Lovely wheels too You got it?

i'd never let that bloody cat sit on my car. i hate coming outside to find small pawprints all over it. If i catch that cat...

yea it will be safety issues on the 205 gti, easier to steal, less sturdy etc etc

try lancaster insurance. I'm 21, one yrs ncb. Just insured a vr6 'rado fully comp on their modern cars policy for just under £720! Imagine my delight. £250 excess, it turned out better than their classic policy which had extra excesses due to my age, totalling £675 and the quote itself I believe was around the £750 area. It's actually almost £100 cheaper than what I was paying tpft on a mk2 golf 8v gti with elephant, and elephant were previously my cheapest quote.

Nice one, thanks for the suggestions so far. I've heard about stealth a fair bit, I'm new here having been on the e38 forum for quite a while having had a couple of mk2 golfs.

The service on my new corrado vr6 is about due, I'm looking to book it in somewhere a week or so after I come back from holiday (after I've had a play), I don't trust the vw dealers at all and won't consider booking it in there. Can anyone recommend a good garage in the area? I'm near Rugby so anywhere round Leics or Coventry/Warwick is preferable. I'd possibly go to Birmingham at a push.

Awesome! I just bought a very tidy Corrado with fsh, due a service and I aim to keep it fsh, but I don't trust my local vw stealers one bit. I'll be in touch in the near future I should think

I rang him last week to see a couple he had in stock when I was looking, he seemed very awkward on the phone and didn't seem as if he really wanted to sell one, I ended up not going. After I'd told him which ones I was interested in, he then told me, conveniently, that someone was already seeing those same two on the saturday morning so if I wanted to be sure to buy one I'd have to go in the evening on the friday (in the dark). I decided that this was a sign and didn't call back.
