good good :) not a prob about the brake thing, im just curious, thinking about buying new front calipers if i decide to go turbo, dont wanna lose the rm's though :?
-
Ah yeah chris, good times! Still got that bench, I should put it in sometime. Not sure if i'll make the 26th as car is off the road now until the rear beam is assembled and swapped over. Then I got to do my windows and a couple of other little things for the new MOT :salute: I'll see if Prod wants to come down though, maybe I can get a lift in the G60.[/quote:2qs0ane2] you still havent put it in yet! :D i guess i can let you off, youve been busy rebuilding and writting up :salute: pester him into coming, looks like theres gonna be quite the turn out. those brembo calipers look awesome! maybe a stupid question but whats the smallest size wheel you can run with them?

looking forward to seeing this rado, can still remember it from the day we meet up outside halfords are you going to be attending this south coast meet on the 26th? ive got all those spare water hoses to give to you if you are.

i got it ordered in by one of my local garages, came to around £28 including VAT

i replaced my belt the other day for a genuine vw contitech belt in the hope that it would stop the constant squeak....it did. no noise at all now its bliss. i will forever stay clear of dayco and other cheap belts now
-
installed the ebay slave cylinder this morning, its also close to genuine quality. its made from polymer too, not metal. good for the price if you ask me. works a treat :) £30 including postage incase anyone is curious about this item in the future.
-
the rubber boot is just a dust seal and shouldnt come into contact with the fluid, so if fluid is leaking out, the internal seal has also gone, so you will need a new slave cylinder. after a closer inspection, if i pull the rod out (as it isnt attached now) and look inside, i can see a pool of fluid, push the pedal down, and youve guessed it, fluid pisses out. internals have definately gone :( new one ordered now though :) I was thinking that, as mine has had a damaged seal for years to no effect, it's only there to stop clutch dust potentially getting into it. these things usually last forever, although I think there have been some with manufacturing faults (metal going porous or something), the feed flexi hose lasts about 10 years but the cylinders themselves aren't usually a problem, If it was me I'd pick up a second hand one, from a later VAG car, a tenner is about right. this is the third slave cylinder that has gone bust on me now, i think ive got to try a new one rather than second hand for a change. not saying that all second hand units are crap, its just my bad luck with them :(

wish it was still tht price! im going to go with the ebay one as its half the price, and to be honest, cant see that there'll be much difference between them. ill just coat it in lots of hammerite to protect it the ebay one comes with a 12month /12000 mile warranty (which ever comes first) which isnt too bad at all. if i have any problems ill let folk know

incase anyone else searches this, vw sell the slave for £56 excluding VAT

from VW? or an aftermarket one from ebay? any idea on the price i should be paying for it? is this the one your talking about? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK2-G60-MK3-CORRADO-VR6-CLUTCH-SLAVE-CYL-C356_W0QQitemZ190255006014QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190255006014&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

as title states, the other night i was out for a drive and lost my clutch pedal. checked the fluid, lost everything above the clutch feed pipe. checked every joint no leaks, checked the slave cylinder, the rubber boot has totally ripped off pissing fluid out. can you replace the boot? if so, is it a VW dealership job? and how easy is it? ive never taken one apart. cheers, chris

ill give it all a clean now. after reading that thread would you recommend a genuine vw belt? are the gsf ones really crap? i need both the covers underneath, my corrado never came with the belt side one
-
never thought of this. would it have to be done often? since day one my serp belt has been squeaking, the noise is coming from the crank pulley. i first thought it was a bearing noise it sounded very similar so i replaced the waterpump, pas pump and tensioner all for new. still the noise continued... i sprayed the alterntor pulley (on the ribbed surface) with wd40 (it was all i had at the time) and the constant squeak totally vanished briefly. one thing i noticed was the pas pulley was spinning pissed so ive straightened it up as good as i can and tightened the 3 bolts up but it still has the minimalist of play if i rock it side to side, were talking a milimeter of play. the belt was still squeaking after this. next course of action, as it has to be the belt rubbing on something was to get a 6 rib belt and find out which side was causing the problem, did that, and low n behold the squeak vanished completely........for one whole day. the next morning, it was back, not so bad but it is getting a little worse by the day. am i missing something??? its driving me up the wall :help: p.s. fla, sorry if it seems like im stealing your thread. :)

cheers bud, wish i had the fundage to pull off the bigger conversions some of you guys are currently doing, makes my effort look alittle weak not to worry about the fpr, replaced it shortly after. it didnt just solve the running rough as feck + over fueling problem, it also sorted the long crank over issue ive been experiencing since day one. never thought about smoking the front number plate, i was just gonna do the rear one, maybe ill look into that :salute: . i just used one layer of lightly smoked laminate film (good stuff) so keep the tints then :)
-
these were taken weekend before last after my fpr blew out leaving me stranded in the back garden, ill get some much better ones up soon (NEED center caps!) your views on the tinted headlights, fogs & indicators, should i leave them tinted or peel it all off??
-
cheers for the interior tunnel tom. will really help getting the interior finished.....finally! :) glad i could help make your mind up with the 6 branch too, as for the price, if you decide to go with one of the raceland ebay ones im almost 100% certain my offer was £135 and it was accepted, £30 off the asking price. try your luck. p/m me closer to the time about this meet incase i forget, i'd love to attend. my housemate is a photographer so if we pick somewhere scenic we could get some really nice pictures of all the cars.

are the cross members for the 4 cylinder engines the same as the ones for the 6 pots? i will hopefully be taking mine off in the next week or two and i want to be able to have sourced another one "just in case" the rust monsters have seriously taken hold! i don't think it's too bad from what i remember, but i want to know i can get hold of another if needs be... needless to say, if it will fit, would you mind provisionally holding it for me for a week or two until i know what state mine is in..... (for a sensible price obviously) thanks very much :) glad to see your build is coming along so well by the way. do you recon you will get it back on the road for the winter, or are student funds too tight at present?[/quote:2uiuw7gv] top picture - early crossmember bottom picture - vr6 crossmember the difference is the rad support ive arrowed, the rad is pulled back in the photo so you can see

i re-did my bbs rm's a couple of months back, 2'' lips for the fronts (8's) and 2.5'' lips for the back (8.5's). reason i didnt go for the 3'' lips was because they look a little too much. if you go for 2.5'' or 3'' lips on the back and intend to slam the car you will need to roll the rear arches. my c is in 4x4 mode till i get mine done so i dont damage the tyres anymore. as for price i bought all mine new as a package for germany (stainless steel lips not alloy ones, 120 chrome bolts, s/s valves, sealant) with shipping it came to about £450. cant find the seller on ebay now though.

ive had a search for a place that does arch rolling but cant find anyone near hampshire that does it. if anybody knows of a place locally to me, please let me know. cheers, chris
