  1. the now 'chromed' manifold may become redundant  the polished one was sold awhile back, lol i really need to update this thread with all the new bits.
  2. hi pete, thanks, i've been meaning to message you back for awhile. sorry i didnt reply to your last p/m, had a bit of a rough summer. how've you been? hows the new toy? did the burns clear up ok? nah i didnt buy neils itb's (87 jetta 16v) or his lovely new block unfortunately, by the way neil, if you read this, thanks very much for all the advice bud :salute: i wanted to build my own manifold for them, plus i found a set of 6 at a steal so will be going this route now. Jenvey tapered bodies, 42 in, 45 out. need to find a company who make custom radiators at a reasonable cost as the denso will get in the way. anyone, feel free to point me in the right direction :) i've decided to send my spare block to be rebuilt professionally as i havent got time to finish everything by myself before the spring. so hopefully ill be running a new block/a newish kev'd up head with these puppies. be nice to see how the 263's go with the jenveys. havent thought about higher compression yet (please dont put these thoughts into my head  ) as for management, i'll be in touch with C2. probably going to run the management on throttle position. (as neil also advised) tbh ive never heard them in the flesh either, just on videos. its gona be awesome hearing them fire up the first time :norty: cant wait! ill try to get loads of photos when i do the conversion, with good write ups for a change rather than doing all the work and taking photos at the end. (got to admit, my build thread is rubbish! lol)
  3. very jealous of the arch work on this nate :) looks spot on, ill have to see this one day. the borbets look great polished! dont worry about a little dirt showing up, just be thankful its not black, water marks are the worst! :brickwall:
  4. Some snowy photos. heavy update coming...
  5. whats the difference between the 16v and vr6 power steering pipes? do the vr6 pipes have a reducer somewhere in the line?
  6. the vr pumps run around 5 bar and the 16v's run around 7 bar. i'd probably say no but then ive never done it so would'nt know.
  7. thats good news :) no mods needed? it will just spin into my existing 9A tank as normal?
  8. lol, yeah i believe its playing, the main fuel pump went the other week so i replaced that got the car working again and i noticed that the pump sometimes struggles (loud whirring/buzzing). sound like the supply to the main pump is being affected. theres nothing else in the system that i can think of that would cause this. i noticed the car stalling when idling occassionally, this got worse and more frequent for about a month or 2 before the main pump packed up. when i replaced the pump the stalling problem went away almost completely, it idles better too, but it very occassionally stalls still so im thinking tank lift pump is the main problem... i thought it was the maf at first but it looks completely fuel pump related now. chris
  9. will a vr6 fuel pump drop straight into a 2.0l 16v fuel tank and fit? chris
  10. Hi, think this maybe an easy one.... for you guys who have experienced 2.0l 16v (under car) fuel pump issues. mine decided to pack up last week so i replaced it for a new one. all was well but ive noticed that it is buzzing very loud every now and then (not the normal buzz you get), it will go away for a bit but then it comes back. im pretty sure its the tank lift pump that is at fault and the new fuel pump is not getting enough fuel supply which is making it whir loud i guess like any pump would if the supply wasnt there. sound about right? or am i missing something. Chris
  11. it may not be an oil drip, its probably oil vapour
  12. agreed, sounds like its venting into the engine bay through the crank vent
  13. looking good fay! its really coming along now! i may have to treat myself to some kw's soon :) it wasn't my old rack that caused you problems was it :pale: you gona be headin to the dorset meet on the 13th Dec? Chris
  14. 87 Jetta 16v (neil) Top bloke! helped me right out! Thanks Neil! Chris
  15. i didnt want to cut into my parcel shelf either so i put some pyle blueline 4x6's in the rear parcel shelf supports. got to admit, there no where near as loud as some of the 6x9's out there but they are a million times better than the factor speakers, tbh there good enough for me. a sub in the boot would probably make these pointless though if your going that route
  16. with the switch sounds more like it :)

    Misfire

If oil is finding its way into a cylinder/cylinders dont bother getting new plugs until youve solved the problem. pray its not your block. the heads a cheaper fix :D

noticed any loss of/burning of oil? even a small amount? maybe worth cleaning the plugs again driving it for a couple of day then re-checking the plugs. fingers crossed it isn't but the problem could be slightly worse than fault ht leads. worth checking this
  19. ill have to enquire about the required plugs this weekend. if i can get them ill be more than happy to supply looms minus relays and the switch for £100 each :D just kiddin. in all honesty though, if the plugs are still avaiable and knowone has already posted a how to on these, ill get to making a thread for it. thanks for responding to this post by the way :salute: its good to hear the views of others, and i totally agree, things do seem to swing in roundabouts
  20. that is unbelievable! £100 just for wires and a couple of plugs! we really need to stop encouraging these prices :cuckoo: i understand new relays are worth £40 (from vw) but second hand (old ones) definately arent worth this without a guarantee.
  21. what is a heated seat loom + relays actually worth? minus the switch. taking into account most that are sold are sold with relays that are as old as the car itself and you just dont know how far gone the relays are. just out of interest guys  ill make one sortly and cough up the cash for NEW relays if i cant find one at a reasonable/realistic price. if it comes to that is there anyone local with a loom that i can copy? If youve still got yours Tom (toad) give me a shout (by the way i need to catch up with you soon, its been awhile! your vr is on the road! Chris
  22. if you fancy changing your oil pump at the same time as your oil change i've got one with 150miles on it for sale. :) this will usually eliminate lifter noise as well especially if the old pump has seen a lot of distance and has become worn Chris
  23. its only one day later i know but im 100% sure the 109 ecu relay was the problem. i forgot to mention my spoiler stoppped working properly when the problem started to occur, it would sometimes go up at 60mph, sometime not at all. since replacing this relay the spoiler has worked as normal with no issue. i really didnt know this relay failing would have an impact on the spoiler. it would move on the switch as normal but not automatically. are these relays really only about £10 from vw? nice cheap fix for once :) may as well pick a new one up if they are.
