  1. Isn't there even lighter Fidanza flywheels, i thought they are best out there... How do they rate amongst you turboheads?
  2. I believe what you saying is true to some extent, but still it's hard to believe that any "serious" company like SKF, Bosch, Siemens would gamble with part quality for critical system parts like bearings, ABS and ECU systems, or instrument clusters... For example, SKF parts are usually Made in France, Made in Italy... Koyo is brand that's strictly Made in Japan. Speaking of manufacturers of rubber-metal parts like Meyle, Febi-Bilstein or Boge, all their parts as far as i've seen are Made in Germany or Made in France... I do think that, after all, VAG approved parts must comply with certain standards for VAG sticker. However, some of our cars are more than 15 years old and i seriously doubt that VW or any other car maker in that sense are applying often quality controls of these parts that are close to be phased out anyway. More and more parts for our loved cars are being not available anymore from dealers, so i thought this to be the place for finding the closest "VW quality" parts manufacturers around the world... Being price wise, cutting dealers-storage chains is the best way to buy considerably cheaper stuff. All of them, including VAG, are about maximizing their profits, be sure about it. That's, for example, why VAG parts are usually 40% expensive than Bosch. Storage, transport, and dealers procedures definitely adds up to the VAG price, probably up to these 40%. Speaking of, my local VDO/Siemens dealer is asking me catalogue number for fuel pump and fuel level sender (VR6 here). Do some of you guys know maybe what these numbers are? Thanks, Emir
  3. I came to idea about this long time ago, but only had a time recently to start this thread, motivated with few earlier threads. We all know that VAG actually doesn't manufacture a majority of the parts in their cars. Major suppliers for first factory install are Bosch, Siemens, Febi-Bilstein, Recaro etc, with VAG sticker/imprint somewhere decently hidden in :-) VW in this case only engineers the particular system but other factory usually makes it. What i want to know is how to actually buy a part(s) directly from a manufacturer, and not from a VAG dealer... For example, in February this year i bought from distributor of Meyle (it's German company, i heard from someone they were choosen by VW for factory install in the '90es), almost all of the stuff for a complete reparation of the front and rear suspension system: bushes, mounts, CV joints, ball joints, tie-rods, whishbones, boots, bearings, etc... Not to mention i paid a fraction of a dealer OEM price. I have also bought from a SKF distributor a set of front and rear wheel bearings, again much cheaper than VAG ones. I heard that VAG actually fits Koyo bearings as a factory install, but couldn't find a distributor/seller for them in my country. I also bought TT/R32 Boge wishbone bushings (again, Boge GMBH is too a factory VW install, AFAIK). I hope i don't have to mention that my car still goes excellent, parts i installed looks and works no worse than VAGs, maybe even better, i don't know... Last year i also bought a secondary water pump, only had a hard time to find Bosch part number... Once i found it, i went to my Bosch dealer and bought it for 40% less than i would pay at dealers, which only difference would be a VW imprinted part. no. on it... And it still works perfectly... So, that's my experience in search for same quality parts, without paying distributor/dealer silly prices. How do you buy yours? Let's make this thread to be THE source for cheaper, yet still original OEM parts for our loved Corrados :D This is from me, then: Meyle, Febi-Bilstein : suspension components, bushings, engine mounts... you can look their online catalogues for catalogue numbers to see which part you need, and which one fits to what Corrado (g60, vr6, 16v)... http://www.meyle.com/html/catalogues/index.php http://www.febi.com/ Koyo, SKF, Timken : wheel bearings Boge : whishbone bushings, other bushings(?) Bosch : electric systems (water pumps, fuel pumps, sensors, senders, regulators, MAFs, ABS systems) VDO : gauges, senders I am looking currently to buy a Fuel Pressure Regulator for my Corrado VR6, but i can't find Bosch part no. for it. Does someone know? I also need fuel pump (4bar) with sender, VDO makes them now (used to be a Pierburg) but i don't know their part no. for it... And i don't feel like giving 450 euros at stealers... :bad-words: P.S. Of course, many know this but it's better to be written once for all: VAG catalogue numbers ARE NOT THE SAME with actual manufacturer catalogue numbers... for example Meyle has it's number for particular rear axle bushing, VW has it's number. So they are not comparable in that sense... Cheers, Emir
  4. Somebody should take few pics around airbox in their unmolested stock VR6 and post it   So far: No. 21 sits between headlight and airbox - this is official No. 22 sits between No21. and airbox , or judging from the illustration, it goes after airbox around MAF/intake hose - unnofficial No. 12 still a mistery Come on ppl i believe we can figure this one out! :brickwall:
  5. Actually i have no. 21. As far as not needing it, i don't know, it purpose should be probably to better direct air into airbox... However, no.12 and no.22 are a complete mystery to me! Where are they actually located in the car??? Somebody should know, probably..?
  6. I am installing original Vr6 airbox back into the car, but i don't know what air guides i'm missing, since previous owner made a mess of it as he put K&N kit inside few years ago... This is the picture from catalogue: 136000.JPG[/attachment:3maw3li8] I'm positive i have the one that goes in front of the airbox (position 21.) , but those two marked air guides i'm probably missing... Where's their location in the car, somebody must have picture in engine bay where exactly are they supposed to be? Thanks a bunch Emir
  7. That is beautiful work. I always liked Corrado exterior better than interior. Never thought this car can look so modern inside, yet early-'90 retro... You have done a great job! :salute:
  8. Wow, that's one clean C! :notworthy: I want your car
  9. Items finally arrived yesterday. Great service, parts looking very high quality. I'll try fitting them today... Well, no suprises here really, Dave made another customer happy. Thumbs up, mate! :D
  10. One quickie :) rear axle.JPG[/attachment:17qu9wh5] Im after refreshing my suspension components. In this picture, you can see circled rear ARB bushing. Is it replacable? How many of them do i need? I suppose two, as for the front ARB, but im not sure... Also, is there one or two bushes that secures steering rack? Thanks.
  11. Mine behaves exactly like this. Aux pump should run only with fans afterrun. Therefore, there is no logic for fans running while engine temperature is below 85
  12. Im also thinking about this. Since $ is on record low levels, import the LSD from USA could be nice option. Peter at thescirocco.com has good reputation, he sells Peloquin and Quaife products, about 10% off the original price. Im thinking about Peloquin LSD since people claim it's higher build quality, and also has transferable lifetime warranty, unlike Quaife.
  13.  I just did the same thing... Dave, how much would be with shipping this essential kit to Bosnia and Herzegovina? I would need both sides. Also, my car is LHD, is there any difference with door handles? My passenger side is yours drivers side, and vice versa :)
  14. Hello guys. Im into buying complete tie-rods for my '92 Corrado VR6 (LHD), since i had a "little" accident.. er nevermind... On vagcat.com i noticed there are two types of tie-rod, for ZF and TRW style racks. What's the difference between them, and what type will fit to my car? Thanks.
  15. I never understood these parts of drivetrain for stability management. All Corrados comes with factory front and rear ARBs, right? How is that aftermarket ARBs are so much better than stock OEM ones? I mean, they are not rocket science in designing, its practicaly one twisted piece of metal bar. Is there really such a difference in performance? Also, what other "bars" are for: tie bar, sway bar, swing bar, strut bar, brace bar..? is there any other "bars" im missing ? :D Please exuse my noobness...
  16. Now i realized my problem is not so intermittent as i thought. You guys that got same problems, should pay extreme attention on when exactly and how problems occur. In my case,i realized im getting hesitating everytime i make hard right turns. Its also noticable when trying to pass the car in front of, when i make quick left then straight the car by giving it right turn, it hesitates. (we drive on right side) Its also more noticable when climbing up the hill, when doing the actions above. Less noticeable when gas tank is full. However i still cant explain why is this happening ONLY when car is warmed up. My best guess - fuel pump?!
  17. Throttle position wiring and throttle body was checked and its OK, not as good as new but also not too worn out to cause any problems (at least my mechanic told me this :? ) . I mentioned that problem dont exist when car is cold, when you first start the car you can drive it very aggresively until oil temps reach 120
  18. I just wanted to report status if anyone may need it (hope it doesn't). To make sure i checked G28 sensor with ohmmeter and its OK. Electrical connections between MAF and ECU were the problem though. The wires were corroded from the ECU side, and one was so bad that it actually break up. After cleaning and replacing wires, i got my idle now :) But i still got the intermittent problem when car is at its operating temperature and under a little bit of abusing  . It hesitates for a split second between 3000 and 4500 RPM, most noticeable and likely while shifting down and WOT. Could it be still MAF related, what you guys think?
  19. So how can i check this sensor properly? Download vag com codes while i keep engine running perhaps?

    What Oil

I use Castrol TWS 10W/60 and expiriencing slightly less oil consumption compared with Mobile 1 5W/50. However its still quite high, around 1L per 2000 kilometers :?
  21. THREAD UPDATE: Half an hour ago i checked it again with VAG-COM, only this time i deleted old errors to see what's coming up. Turned the ignition, started engine, kept RPMs around 2000-2500 and then turned ignition off immediately (i didnt let it to cut off). Now this time only 1 error: 00513 - Engine speed sensor (G28) No signal So i guess i will be spending 100 euros on new ESS :(
  22. Hi guys, i have a problem that's kinda popular these days... OK, after i had my cooling problems sorted out, and then heater core exploded due to overheating because rednecks at dealership didnt connect fan connector properly while changing some cooling components, i run into more Corrado woes. Since i repaired cooling system, my car used to act funny when warmed up. I started to notice that when weather was very hot (40
  23. Situation updated! I found third metal impeller from main water pump. It took a good flush of water through crack pipe to let it out. I also found two missing parts from aux. pump, one in crack pipe in the oil cooler nipple, the other was in radiator. Problems! I broke my crack pipe (it was already out with the rotted o-rings though). Hopefully im buying new one from gruvenparts.com . I got a small leak from radiator too :( i don't want to even think about it... Info needed! Still havent found other bits from aux. pump. Before i completely take the motor and heater core out, i got an idea, but first could someone please explain me in what direction does the cooling system ciculate? Maybe some drawings are out there? I have bentley and it doesnt show direction of coolant flow... Preferably i would need separated flow schemes of main pump/aux pump/oil cooler. Thanks folks!
  24. Well it's really going down everything that possibly can these past few days... Someone put a spell on me  Where should i look for missing parts from aux pump? Heater core? Engine head..?
  25. Dealership didn't have the version with metal impeller. They wanted to charge me with 60 euros with old one returning. I found Graf for 30 euros. Aux pump is different story. 115 euros at dealership. Found it for 76 euros from one of Bosch suppliers.
