I've just ordered my SNS chip. I can't wait!!!! :D
-
I've seen it on the back cover of one issue.
-
It does sound like the ignition switch. This happened to me about a year ago. They are an absolute b!tch to fit yourself, if you don't want the steering column drilling, but it is possible.
-
Sounds reasonable to me.

Dubcharged, I'm interested in the air/fuel gauge. I want see difference between current chip & SNS chip. How much will the gauge be?

I've been reading alot of threads on the VWVortex site & SNS really do know their stuff when it comes to the G60 engine, especially the ECU chip. The way I see it, is that when you are at WOT the Digifant system doesn't richen up the mixture for a second or so, in fact it runs leans! Most chips are just altered ignition settings & maybe fuelling curves aswell, but they don't get rid of this digi lag. SNS have cracked this digi lag code. But to make this work you'll need a 3.5bar FPR. I'm definately up for a group buy on this chip. (I going to get one anyway, when I can afford it) I'm sure Dubcharged can elaberate on this!! How about some discount on a group buy?? :)

I just been told my C spits out flames!! At the track day at Donington I was running on near enough 101 octane with a few degrees ignition advance & the old girl was doing a bit of fire eating!!!! I had a look at the inside of the tailpipe & it was a nice browny biscuit colour, so shes running spot on. Excellent day.

I use VW's own fully synthetic Quantum Synta Gold. Only £15 with the discount I get!
-
I'd tend to go for standard plugs & leads. The standard leads (Beru, I think) are not the same length for all 4. I maybe wrong , but last time I looked they seem to be different lengths.

I've painted mine gold to keep it like brand new calipers. Used smooth finish Hammerite. Dead easy, 3 or 4 coats takes about 2 hours. It's lasted 2 years so far.
-
I think they work after a limited time when the ignition is off. Mine work immediatley after the keys are pulled out. And if the door is opened you can wind the window up or down
-
Yeah that's normal. There is a one touch operation on the drivers side aswell.
-
I've got the G60 one. I picked it up at last years GTI International from GPC. I think it was about £9.

Some people have no respect for other peoples property. I hate it when people open their doors & slam them into the side of your doors. I have a few dints & scratches from that kind of behavior. I try to pick my parking spaces carefully these days. Next time ya see that citroen piece of s**t , put some chewing gum under the door handles!!!

Maybe the fuel hose on the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Mine had come slightly lose & made a hell of a stink. A quick tighten of the jubilee clip sorts it out. It's located to the left of the fuel rail, just below the inlet manifold.

Ever wondered what alloys will look like on your C?

I think LeeW has a pearl green C in his signature. -

How 'bout black on Pearl Green?? -
While I have my winter steel wheels on, I will be getting my 5 spoke alloys refurbished. The problem I have is that I like the look of black alloys for a stealthy look. I'm not sure if black (or dark coloured) alloys would suit my Pearl Green C. What do you guys think? If anyone could knock up a photoshop image, would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Jon P.S. The alloys I have are 15" MSW Kylami's (not made anymore) similar to OZ Polaris or Borbet B.

This could be the Heatshield around the exhaust downpipe. Mine has a similar rattle which was annoying for a while. I discovered what was causing it whilst replacing the lambda sensor in the exhaust. I could see there was a split in the heatsheild & it was vibrating against the downpipe. The only way to remove the heatsheild is to take off the downpipe.

Front engine mount- dead easy, Gearbox mount - fairly easy, Rear engine mount - not so easy. Vibratecnics make uprated ones. I have a Vibratecnics gearbox mount with an uprated front mount from Autocavan (now no longer trading). Rear engine mount is standard.

I just covered the the IC bolts with grease to stop corrosion!!

As Nigel has said, interested if the price is right. What are the benefits? Obviously, you will lose the belt slippage over the standard set up, but give us some details. Cheers, Jon

Is it from the engine? If so, It sounds like the tappets are worn or not enough oil is getting to the top end. If its not from the engine, it maybe something catching or rubbing on the tyre/wheel/disc area.
-
Misfire maybe? Or running over-rich. Could be ISV- they do weird things if they go bad. Is it idling OK?
