i also have a 16v, pressurization in header tank, the top hose goes rock solid and you see the air jerking the top hose, and then the water comes out of the exspansion tank, no water in the oil, the rest of the engine runs fine. head gasket has been done, but didn't get head pressure tested could it be a cracked head, still the same. any ideas? help!

as the wires are broken on ours and very short and will be hassle to solder and join if it can what do I need to do to get it out ?

have you been playying with relays as when I fitted a relay in the wrong place this happened to me -
yeah just for cranking as most times when you crank if the switch is bad it will cut the power for the coil
-
the easiest way to check is to have the ignition on then pull the small wire from the starter the one withthe spring clip and run a wire from battey live to the connector on the starter where the small wire goes if it starts its the switch
-
but what about when cranking as thats when they loose power to the coil with a bad switch
-
no but its quite common to loose power to the coil when the switch is dead
-
gonna get a file on them later  cheers damn money pit of a car this raddo is
-
cheers I thought it wouldnt make much difference but since the 8vgasket lined up fine it got me thinking
-
are you sure your igniton switch is not dead as we had that one and it was the switch
-
right we have what I beleive to be a 9a in the raddo the head gasket went so on getting ready for rebuild I come across this issue with the water ways lining up on the head gasket 9a steel gasket see the 2 water ways I have marked 8v 1.8 gasket these water ways line up perfect with the head the steel gasket is perfect for the block but not for the head whats going on ? the head casting is 051 103 373D which from googleing is either 9a of ABF opions please also where do I find the engine code on the block ?
-
the ignition switch is a common fault for cranking but not starting ;) the easiest test is to turn the ignition on then remove the small wire to the starter motor by squeezeing the spring clips on it and run live from the battery to the contact that the wire was from on the starter if it starts you need a new switch

ours did that the slave cylinder when was shot
-
they could bebut they were listed for heavy duty suspention they have a few listed dunno if they are realy any different tho
