Cheers mate, good write up and cheers for the work put in. Was really pleased with how the car looked at GTI Festival, didn't look out of place in the show and shine imho which was what I had hoped for. Just need to get the front end resprayed now (again!) to get rid of the millions of stone chips... gotta love that motorway commute

Thought I'd take a chance and get one off the bay and I can confirm they are the proper Bonrath ones with the Bonrath logo on them. Was delivered from Germany in only a couple of days too so can recommend them :)

Spoke to KW UK today and they can supply 60nmm x 170mm springs for the front (rather than the usual 70nmm x 170mm springs) and 40nmm x 200mm springs for the rear (rather than the usual 50nmm x 200mm springs). [These are VR6 rates btw, afaik the 4 cylinder models come with the softer rates but this may have changed]. They also told me that to go softer I would need to change the spring length. Waiting on a price at the moment. I was pretty confused with the conversion of spring rates as I was assuming the spring rates were in newtonmeters which seemed to make 70nm springs convert to around 620pounds/inch and I couldn't work out why springs would be measured in a torque measurement. I found the following on VW Vortex which was quite helpful so here it is for anyone else wondering about conversions: "Units mean things and spring rates are NOT listed in newtonmeters (which is more correctly a torque, ie lb-ft) they are decribed by force needed to create a deflection. The force could be pounds or newtons. The deflection is listed as any normal measurment of length, i.e. millimeters, inches, etc.) and Spring Rates are listed as unit of force per unit of deflection, thus F/D or pounds/inch or N/mm. thus the conversion of 1 N/mm is equal to 5.710pounds/inch 1N = 0.2248 pound (force) 1mm = 0.03937 inch 1N/mm = .2248pound/.03937inch = 5.710pounds/inch A Spring rate of 70N/mm = 399.7pounds/inch A Spring rate of 60N/mm = 342.6pounds/inch A Spring rate of 50N/mm = 285.5pounds/inch"

Zak did you ever get the softer springs for your KWs? Would be interested in some for mine, the roads round here are just too shite for the standard spring rate!

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread here but what's a KW comfort pack?

Hi mate, can I just ask what makes you want to go back to 205s? Was thinking of putting 195s on mine...

Hey Torsten, engine bay looks great, where did you get the 'Corrado' etched cam cover? -
No I'm picking them up, quite good service if they do get them in by tomorrow morning though imo. Agree with the exterior parts comment, they're enough to bring any rado owner to tears. Over £100 for a new 90mm chin spoiler for example, or £70 for a foglight :brickwall:

Stunning as usual Zak, setting the wheel trend once again. What profile are those tyres though?! They look like they've been painted on!
-
Yeah just ordered some, £56 each inc VAT as you said, and should be delivered tomorrow which is quite good. Reminds me that the stealers aren't always that bad!
-
Found the set you were on about on ebay, thanks for the link. I'll check with VW to see if they have any left though, you don't have a part number by any chance do you?
-
Yeah the roof mouldings that people sometimes remove and fill with lead. £126 pair... ouch
-
Who can supply these (or polished ones for that matter) for the VR6?
-
Anybody know a place online that sells new plastic roof strips for the rado?
-
I would definitely agree with the cruiser aspect, on the motorway the VR6 is so good, feels totally unstressed and you can return some pretty good mpg figures *if* you don't start pushing much above 85ish. It's one of the best cars I've ever driven for comfortable cruising. Plus I've had similar experiences with people seeing my car out and about. Any tidy rado looks special against a lot of modern machinery but the VR6 in particular does seem to draw a lot of praise and that's priceless imo

Can't wait, the rado being in Forza 2 was the reason I bought a 360!

cheers zak :thumbleft:

I'm after some pics of (preferably) aqua blue rados with gold rims (again preferably gold split rims with a polished dish, though I know that's quite specific!). Anyone got any? Thanks

Any local meets you attend? Not really, should do tho! I sometimes go along to the Dub Club Oxford meets but I have found them quite cliquey and not always open to new faces... Some of the lads are spot on mind but quite a few won't give you the time of day I find....[/quote:w1h6g4h3] Yeah I joined the DCO forum but haven't made it down yet, doesn't sound that clever after reading your comments though! Maybe we should try and organise a local one?! I think the red VR6 owner comes on here but not sure of his name as my old man spoke to him randomly about the car recently when he saw it parked up but I wasn't there. He said he was a member of the Corrado Forum though...

Saw a red VR6 today who flashed me and gave me a wave on the old A40 going through Piddington (near Stokenchurch). Also seen it parked up in Stokenchurch before. Plus another aqua blue VR6 in nearly the same place (going through West Wycombe village) on Sat morning, had some 17s on by the look of it and M3 style rear clusters...

Definitely looks better in black :thumbleft: -
Cheers for the info Zak. The dents aren't too bad but there are quite a few. There's a couple of methods I'm thinking of trying, heating and tapping them out is obviously the most basic but they're not gonna be perfect taking that route. The alternative is to make up a backplate for the dish to bolt to then put it in a lathe and roll the dents out with something similar to a bead roller. Don't know if this would work or not? The polishing side of things will be a lot less problematic but just time consuming. I'm just planning on working through the various grades of wet and dry and then once it's smooth enough using a polishing kit as you suggest. Seen as the ZW1s are spun lips I'm guessing the actual polishing shouldn't be too hard as long as the surface prep is up to scratch?
