ok i aint updated this for a while so i will bring it up to date i took it off the road last year with the intention of rebuilding the engine to 1.9 with a lysholm whilst i had my ibiza vr6 to play around in as a daily. but as i drove the vr6 i got hooked so i sold the g60 engine setup and bought a 78k 2.8 obd2 vr6 engine with everything i wanted and needed for £240(i had to take it out of the car myself for that price  ) i have'nt done a great deal to the car since i sold the g60 due to lack of time because of work commitments but i have been collecting quite a pile of goodies :D garrett gt3071r turbo spa manifold down pipe (which i belive used to be kevhaywire's?) 38mm wastegate 4'' maf c2 headspacer and gaskets apr head bolts forge re-circ valve green injectors walbro fuel pump short intake runner low temp thermostat billet crack pipe ecu de-immobilised set of brembo calipers of a alfa i am hopefully gonna try and get this project up and moving soonish any comments/help/critisism welcome dave

hi guys i went to view and buy this today - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT it was up for sale at £999 ono and we ended up agreeing on £900 so this morning i traveled 200+ miles with a trailer to pick it up only to get there and find out that the car was nothing like as described on the ad or what he told me on the phone he said it had a mis-fire but it also had a loud knocking from the top end( not the rattle from the chains either) there were random untidy wires in the engine bay leading to a fan over ride switch the fog lights were both cracked the headlights were full of dirt inside a big deep scratch in the front bumper now i was very prepared to buy the car as i have everything to replace these in my garage but the guys attitude towards the sale of the car was unreal the car was unwashed and full of green mold (he knew i was collecting the car 3 weeks ago and still let the auction carry on!even after i gave a deposit) he was very reluctant to start the car up,saying that there is no coolent in the system because of a big hole in the rad(that we couldnt find or he point out) told me that i came to buy the car and not pick at its faults( am i wrong in doing this?) i am sorry if the car belongs to anyone on here, i am not trying to put anyone off buying the car i am just trying to give people a realistic view of what work is involved if they buy it, the shell is very solid but if your going to view it please take someone along with u who knows what there looking out for if u dont btw i would have givin u £800 for it as u have stated in your new advert if you would have said thanks dave

changing front engine mount on the G, what to do??
raddo-dave replied to bishoprado's topic in Engine Bay
i changed the front mount on mine and i also changed 1 on my golf 16v when i had one and they not to bad to change,u should nt need to take anyy front end off just undo the bolts and jack the engine up untill u can lift and slide the mount out and put the new one in then lower the jack down slowly making sure it locates on the locating pin -
finally got round to puttin my original front bumper back on this morning and my new 50mm front spoiler, i was gonna lower the car a little more but started to pi55 down so decided to take some quick pics and update my thread :?

i had a golf gti 16v a couple of years back and had the same problem i tried alsorts twice over and in the end there was a fault on the clocks so i just replaced them and there was no problem after that 8)
