nice one dude :thumbleft: this is on my list too, do you know what make it is, and was it listed for a rado?
-
has the fan stopped running? if so this happened when i did mine, was to do with the copper connection strip on the heater controls not making contact.
-
propa chuftie :D got stopped the other day at tescos. pulled up next to a mk3 golf gti to give the c some company lol, as i was locking up i heard "nice corrado mate" as the fella who owned the golf came over to his car, he told me how he was looking to get a corrado soon and wondered if i was selling mine, offered me his mk3 plus £1300 there n then but i have become rather attached :luvlove:. so let him have a drive around the car park, being a bit weary sat in the passengers seat. shortly after another mk3 pulled up which happened to be one of the guys friends who owned a vr6 with various modifications, looked nice! after about a half hour chat we all went our separate ways and i always get a wave from them if i see them out n about. there really is nothing like the vw scene :D.

was thinking of checkin out the international autojumble they have in beaulieu on the 13th and 14 of September, has any one been before? and is it as good as iv heard for tracking down car parts and bits n bobs? jus wanted to know what it was like before i partake in hours of bottleneck queuing and mayhem. :)

not bad for 400 mate, is it runnin ok?
-
does anyone think that the new scirocco would look much better with the new gti rims? those ones seem a bit bland.
-
wow!! very nice, both of them. what offsets are you running on those borbets?

just had a similar problem. i checked the switch live wire with a multimeter and the switch on the ignition barrel had stopped working so i spliced it to another wire coming off the ignition loom that was working with the ignition on, happy days! you could also change the ignition barrel but seems a bit tedious. i also noticed that the live live wire running to the fuse box (red with white line) was not leading to the yellow wire on the other side of the connection block so the red went into yellow and the yelloy went into the red.

i found this parts and breakers search engine that searches all the local breakers in your area and compares prices you your required part, so far i have brought a working ABS pump for £60 and about to buy a ISV for £40 which i think is pretty good seeming as all the parts you order come with a 90 day warranty and thats including delivery within 3 days. just thought id share the love :D http://www.partsgateway.co.uk

i must surely be one of the youngest on here and i think it looks pretty flash! for a vw 5 door saloon

well decided to go and get to parts from vw for greater piece of mind and 90 quid later its still making a wining sound so it must be one of the belts for the alternator of water pump. running much better now after setting all the timing up properly, just trying to sort out the high idle when cold :confused4: thanks for the input fellas, very helpful :thumbleft:

na, its not the hot air feed, took out the airbox to take some pics and found this: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfPicture 151.jpg[/attachment:1mofun4m] and thought "oh i wonder if this could plug it" and it fits perfectly so there you go, i guess some models are plugged for some reason  climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfPicture 150.jpg[/attachment:1mofun4m] Picture 152.jpg[/attachment:1mofun4m] case closed  im hoping it runs a bit better now. thanks for the input fellas.
-
sorry meant 90 degrees :bonk: yea, starting to regret not using genuine VAG parts already, think i will replace them just to be on the safe side.
-
The hot air feed is about a 50mm port, this one is about 20mm and its on the top section so must be the link to the large intake hose like everyone is suggesting. if i take any other pipe off it runs like a bag of s**t so i don't see why this one should be any exception. its guaranteed to be mega bucks from vw tho so might fabricate the connection, just wanted to be absolutely sure thats what it was.

thanks yan :) that mark did have the zero at the top, found it after much polishing  so i re-adjusted the cam pulley mark but no sign of the strobe mark so i marked near enough where it should be and adjusted the distributer cap using a strobe and it seems to run fairly good. after re-adjusting the timing it seemed to run at about 2000RPM but gradually worked its way down to about 1200RPM as the engine warmed up, so was rather difficult to strobe. there seems to be a whuring noise coming from either one of the pulley wheels or the tensioner (replacement tensioner from gfs). is it true you should be able to turn the cam belt through 45 deg between the cam pulley and the aux/idle pulley to check the tension is correct?
-
think i might do mate, do you have to unplug the wires from the coil or disconnect the battery or something so the ECU doesn't try and reset the timing? (or something like that)
-
not to my knowledge but thats the way it looks, its always ran a bit lumpy since iv had it so this might be the course. thanks for the help will see what vw have to say.
-
you mean right up by the throttle? theres two little hoses that connect there. it sits above panel air filter so it will make a difference to the vacuum.
-
thats what i thought but couldn't see anything when i looked, surly it cant just be left open like that? heres a pic anyway could someone confirm where it should connect. have a quick peek in there engine bay maybe  would be most greatfull :D Picture 147.jpg[/attachment:1hbg32jf]

was looking round my air box for loose pipes and found that there was a connection but no pipe? don't remember there being a pipe there before  could be a solution to my bad idle. does anyone know where this connects to or if it is plugged or just left open like that? 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfPicture 145.1.JPG[/attachment:1hsx57ox] Picture 146.1.JPG[/attachment:1hsx57ox]

right, the timing was previously set to the strobe mark on the fly wheel so when i rotated the fly wheel to where the zero mark should be it was past TDC on the cam wheel as show in previous post. i adjusted it this morning so now it is set BTDC by one tooth on the cam wheel and i checked the timing mark with a strobe and that is in the right place as well as the distributer cap mark lining up with the rotor arm but it is still running rough :confused4: it now looks like this: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfPicture 142.jpg[/attachment:9rlfzpik] Picture 143.jpg[/attachment:9rlfzpik] i went round and checked all the air feed pipes and its all good, checked the connections to the throttle and ISV (ISV is buzzing when ignition turned on). i had to adjust the idle screw to get it to idle properly. the symptoms are a big lag gap between putting your foot on the accelerator and the revs picking up aswell as misfiring. sorry if im confusing, im just trying to do it by the book and its not working :( help still needed.

Copy of flywheel_timing.gif[/attachment:14t35g07] thats the direction shown that the zero should be from the strobe mark in the diagram. the timing has been previously set to the strobe mark it looks like.
