I did this job a few weeks ago in my 16v. I ran the power down the left hand sill from the battery, through an existing hole high up in the passenger footwell (under the carpet behind the shelf, take the carpet up, the shelf out, and the cover off the ems and you will see it!) and the signal and switch wire from the back of the head unit through the gear tunnel (about 5 screws to get off) under the rear seats to the sub. I would feed them seperately to avoid interference from the power cable to the signal cable. Also, make sure the power comes from the battery, and not the head unit, otherwise your headlights may flash with the bass (could be cool)!!! DON'T FORGET YOUR SWITCH WIRE!!! The first time I did mine I forgot to put a switch wire from the antena to the amp, had to take it all apart again!!!!!

Hi all, Got a rattle on my 2L 16v on startup which is getting progressivley worse. I am told it's the cam belt/timing chain. Is this a job I can do, or is it best left to a specialist? How much should I expect to pay for the work? Any good ppl round the west midlands? I am also told it could be the oil feeder pipe from the sump to the tappets getting clogged, or my oil pump. Oil pressure is down and I keep getting a beeping with the oil light that goes when I rev the engine...? (I have seen the posts on this subject and will be changing the oil pump and filter asap just to be safe)

The camping thing sounds good! Only trouble being that I'm away for the week of the 23rd! Gonna miss the CCGB too! :( Anyone fancy another time? How about the VW Northwest weekend? 10th August? Chris

Oh, and probably in a couple of weeks? On a Sunday afternoon? Whenever people can make it really.

Thank God! I thought I was going to be sitting in the park alone for a while there! ;) It doesn't have to be there, I was thinking if everyone says where they are coming from, maybe find a place that's easy for everyone to get to? Sutton is pretty much in the middle of the country so, fairly local to Midlands, Coventry, Derbyshire, about 80 miles from Manchester. Sutton Coldfield is in between Birmingham and Tamworth (see map) http://uk2.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi? ... imap.y=150 Cheers, Chris ;)

If I were u, I'd sell the G40 and get a G60 or VR6 m8! I've had my Corrado 2.0 16v 3 weeks now, and am already thinking about upgrading the performance! Not that it's crap, just that I know there are faster ones out there! :) They are awesome cars tho mate! Excellent handling, and lovely to drive! Get the best you can buddy ;)

What better way to get to know the people and drivers around the area than to have a party? :D I'm thinking of a Sunday afternoon around the end of the month, find a corner of Sutton Park (away from the masses), everyone bring some fodder maybe get a bar-b-que going? Anyone interested? Please add a post saying where you are coming from or suggesting an alternate location, and when is best for you. Cheers, Chris ;)

I have PM'd a few local ppl (according to their member details) to see if they're interested in getting together soon in a park on a nice sunday, will let you know if it comes off m8. Hope it does, could be a good crack! Get a bar-b-q going and a few Corrado's there (and a Saxo ;) )...yeah, I like the sound of that :D If anyone else is interested, just let me know where you are so we can find somewhere local to most people. Cheers, Chris (stoph)

I used to have a Clio RSi 1.8 8v, and it was a bitch to work on! Things just aren't laid out in a logical manner - unlike a VW - yeah it's a cool fast car, but do you really wanna have to strip half the engine away every time you wanna do routine maintenance? I mean, "...remove the headlight to remove the alternator"!?!? Sounds cool but it'll p**s you off within a short space of time!

Did U sort it? What was it? I have the same problem on my 2.0 16v! Ran the car up the M54 pretty hard (120), then slowed right down to 30(ish) into a town, came off an island floored, it and the oil light came on, and started beeping. Pulled over, left the car running a bit, and it went off - I carried on with no more problems...? This has happened once before, but I think that was my level the first time, as it was a bit low! I am told it is oil pressure aka the oil pump, gonna replace it along with the filter (best to be safe than sorry, eh?), gonna clean out the feeder pipe too!

Cheers for the tips guys! So it would seem the general concensus of opinion is sticking the 1.8 16v head and cams on? Has anyone done this? What exactly is involved (head, cams and pistons)? What was the result? How does that make such a difference? If I were to do this, what other mods could I do while it is stripped down - Gasflow? Actually, my brother is getting rid of a Passat 16v with a sweet engine pretty cheap - isn't that the same 1.8 16v DOHC engine? Could even get some spare door handles off it too ;) Sorry if my questions seem basic - I really am new aren't I? Cheers again!

Looking to learn more about this awesome car. Anyone know to any meets - or is anyone interested in meeting up for a beer to talk about them?
-
Yeah I read that in an earlier post - I think they said the cams - has anyone tried it? There is also a Schrick cam upgrade, I believe? Has anyone tried that?
-
Andi, I find that comment derogatory! I have never, and will never own a corsa! ;) Seriously though, AmD chips claim a 12-15bhp increase alone, for £250, surely that's worth a look?
-
Cheers! Bit pricey tho, fitting a turbo, eh? Was looking for something simpler really. What kind of results do you get from chipping, de-catting, and sports exhausts/airfilters?
-
Hi, New to the site - and Corrado's - lovin it so far! Just got me a 2.0 16v and was wondering what the easiest, cheapest mod is that gives the best results? De-cating? Chipping? Cam replacement? If I wanna get it plus 200 bhp what would I need to do? Cheers!

Which side is this being written from? Converting a 16v to a G60 or a G60 to a 16v? Sorry, a bit lost!
