Haven't updated my thread in a while, so here's a few pictures from the past few months.
-
Well done mate. I was just looking through the thread to find out if you had. Hope you enjoy the Rado and the freedom it'll bring you :D

Blatantly, I'd have loved a Corrado when I first passed too. I ended up with a maroon Austin Metro. But that was when I was 17 and insurance was still a killer on that! Good luck with the test mate. That is a great buy you got there and an awsome incentive to pass. 8)

The topics been quiet for a fair few months now, but i'm sure there are more Nuggets to be added. Here's mine:
-
Mine are exactly the same. Front is well hard, with very little movement, but the rear's are softer. I'd prefer if the fronts were a little softer, but I guess then you wouldn't get as good turn in.

Looks nice. I don't like the 5 spokes, but the other rims look good 8)

Over run temp sensor. I've read that somewhere. The problem I've got now, is the fan no longer comes on on over run. I guess the heat insulation has prevented the sensor getting hot enough to trigger. I wonder if I could move this to a more suitable location? Maybe closer to the exhaust so I always get an over run fan

Well, being totally honest, not a great deals happened since my last post. The G's been running well, all I had noticed was a little bit of an exhaust leak. Happy times  But come February I was fed up with the 9-5 and decided to have a break, going out to France and doing the end of the winter season. I spent ten weeks in the Alps, boarding pretty much every day, whilst the raddo sat quietly at my parents house in the UK, hidden away from the elements. Since returning, progress has been pretty slow, but some has been made. Here's a few pictures from over the last few weeks. The Nugget I returned to With a blowing exhaust manifold, the work began. Here's a photo of my inlet manifold for reference Trial fit of the G-Werks 4 branch exhaust manifold As I get the feeling heat wrap on a stainless steel exhaust is a bad idea, I used heat insulation on the inlet manifold instead Got myself busy on the throttle body :-) Everything went back together nicely, and looking a little fresher One thing I'd really like to know, can anybody identify the sensor below. Located above the injectors with just one spader terminal (which mine is bent right over) on it. Right, everything is running well, so here's a few pics from over the last couple of weeks Hope you enjoyed. Any answers to my 'what sensor is this' question, much appreciated

Pretty hard to tell where the photo is taken or what engine it is. But could it be the emissions sniffer tube off the exhaust manifold?
-
Both cars look awesome mate. Good photos 8)

I saw the Mk3 dash and thought how good it looked. Will these NOT fit properly? Or was it just a bodge? Love the color and I think the kit looks good too 8)

Sidelights will be standard push in type 501 W5W.

Ok, So I should have a temperature sensor then. Not that my MFA seems to have a blank readout, just continues to cycle around. Maybe with a new sensor in it'll work. Can anyone tell me what colour the wire are that go to the sensor in the wing? And where I'll locate a replacement sensor? Any other cars have them? Or are they cheap from VW? I've found out that the first photo is of the dim/dipped headlight relay. Not really that important, unless you like the function of dim headlights when using the sidelights.
-
Whilst tidying up the wiring for my headlights, I found some sort of coil unit behind the passenger side headlight, attached to the inner wing. One of the connections is broken off, so it needs repairing, but does any1 know what it is? Also, whilst removing the charcoal filter, I found some loose wires tucked away near the strut top. They've been cut off at some time, but I don't know what they're for. Any ideas? They branch off the loom in the picture, just after the strut. My MFA does not have an outside air temperature display. Was this not standard? Or could these be the wiring for it? Any help much appreciated :D

Bugger and I just put the DX bolt in. Oh well, it should be good. And a hell of a lot safer than the original item. Can't VW locate you a washer at another branch on their parts system? They found me 1 pretty easy. Top job from the boys at Cheltenham VW. What's this PG bolt all about then?
-
It may well do, but at £33 for the ARP bolt kit, I could have bought a whole socket set with the spare cash left from the DX bolt.
-
Having decided to do this bolt over the weekend, I'll share with you the problems I've had. After having a lot of trouble preventing the engine from turning, using the brakes, I resorted to preventing the flywheel turning, using a bar through the timing cover. Eventually the bolt shifted and out it came. It was at this point that I realized the 22mm socket, required for the new non stretch bolt, would not fit into the recessed pulley hole. I was therefore stuck and had to replace the old bolt to hold the pulley on whilst I located a suitable socket. What Is required, is a thin walled 22mm socket to fit the new DX bolt. something that Halfords do not sell. Make sure your socket for the new bolt will fit inside the pulley, before removing the old bolt!

Thanks for the comments. Andy, was good to speak at the NEC. I was a little shocked when you told me how few Yellow G60's were imported. Don't think it'll even be common  The wheels are 17's, and I wasn't really sure about them at first. In the flesh thou, they have grown on me, but I'm sure some deep dish euro-style rims will make their way on in the future. :D Have a bit of work to do to bring it up to show standard, but I'll get there. Today I'm sorting out the crank bolt, which won't budge!

Well, I've been looking for a Rado for a few months now. Having looked at both the VR and G, it was a split decision between the two. I then stumbled across a Nugget Yellow G60, which I fell for. I'm afraid she hasn't been cleaned yet and has been sat on my driveway, unloved, for three weeks now, but her she is: Hope you like, any comments welcome :D
-
I'd say that'll definitely need replacing. Should be back to running normally with it sorted. :D
-
Thanks 'Dirtytorque'. If it's not too cold this evening, mine may be getting done. I phoned my local VW dealer, who located the items at Lookers, up North. One phone call later, less than a 24hr wait and the bolt and washer have arrived. Just waiting on me to fit now.
-
Having just bought a G60, I'm a little scared to use it at the moment, as I'm sure the crankshaft pulley bolt hasn't been replaced. I've purchased a new non-stretch one, as recommended, but am a little confused which bolt I should be replacing. Is it the centre bolt pictured below? Any help appreciate, so I can get out and drive without fear of my engine munching itself.

Heater matrix, for sure.

I'm a newbie in the Nugget crew. Love it.

It's looking good. Where do you get the yellow full beam lights from? Cheers :D
