The car had been off the road for nearly 2 years so im hoping it will clear up soon, its only been back on the road a few days and didnt stall today. it was low on fuel when i got it back on the road, i gave it a full tank of v-power a few days back, i wasnt aware the isv would be affected by the fuel . . . fingers crossed though!!
-
hi, i did a bit of a search and could not find any answers, my vr throws up some fault on VAG-COM about the isv, and when im driving along and it drops to idle it will sometimes cuts out. iv only been driving it 2 days and its done it 4 times (it also makes my stupid imobiliser cut in so i have to alarm then un-alarm the car before i can re start!!!!) is it a case of new isv, or some how clean the current one, or is it something else all tohgether?? any suggestions please as its got me panicking whenever i come up to traffic wondering if its going to try and stall!!

jsut wondering if there where any vw or corrado mettings in the bolton area, or even just members on here from round my way? about to put my vr on the road when the abs light finaly goes out for the mot!!
-
hi, my abs light comes on and stays on, i had a dodgy rear sensor, replaced that and its still on, do i need to take the battery off for a bit to re-set the ecu or anything liek that also can somebody point out other popular abs faults so i can check for them too! thanks, and info wud be great as it needs its mot asap!!!

i have the exact same problem! i have changed the rear calipers disks and pads and have bled the system many times since with a propper garage pressurised system and i still have a lot of brake travel . . . . very annoying!!
-
hi, im in the process of sorting out my vr, im just about to put the coil overs on. i need to know do you put the standard vw bush and bearing on the top of coilovers (fk highsport)?? also, i dont think they have bump stops, do you put the ones from the origional suspension on them? if anybody that has fitted there coilovers could answer id really appreciate it as i want to get them fitted tomorrow!
-
that would explain it! thanks a lot! yes i got the bearings from vw in like a little kit with the pin etc . . in, but they dont supply a little sachet of grease like the aftermarket kits the tight sods! hopefully i can actualy get to drive the thing soon now! iv had it ages! edit* - i went back to the vw stealership today for a few bits and out of curiosity asked why they didnt supply any bearing grease with the bearing kits. his answer was they dont need any!!!!! thats crazy talk! i cant knock him though, keeps giving me 15% discount though!

Sorry for hijacking this thread but its near enough the same question and i didnt want to start a new thread for it! :D Thanks!

MK4 Golf Rear Calipers + Pad question
Martyn_McG replied to Supercharged Junkie's topic in Drivetrain
hi, i just got hold of some rear calipers apparently off a mk4 gti, as far as i can see the only numbers on them are: 32325607 32325608 - on the piston section and 5612/2 7155 5812/2 7155 - on the carrier parts with the sliders can anybody confirm these are ok for my vr? -
MK4 Golf Rear Calipers + Pad question
Martyn_McG replied to Supercharged Junkie's topic in Drivetrain
does anybody know if mk4 gti calipers will be ok? they run the same size rear disks as the all the other mk4's so im assusimg there the same caliper? also from what i can tell the mk4 golfs run a slightly bigger rear disk than the corrado? -
my highsports just arived from venom, cant wait to get them fitted. i also have found somebody local breaking a mk.4 golf, but its a gti does anybody know if these rear calipers will fit the corrado? i cant use my vr for referance either as its stuck at work and im off with a broken wrist so im just trying to get all the parts i need together for now. and one final question, seeing as i gotta do rear calipers and drop the axle for the exhaust i might as well do the axle bushes while im at it right? the question is, can i change the bushes without this special VAG tool i saw in the knowledge base thing?
-
i just ordered me a set of highsports of venom motorsport, they seem a lot cheaper than the rest. i could not justify the extra £80 or whatever it is for the adjustable damper, there still going to be just as hard because there still on the same springs (i think!)
-
thanks a lot, with knowledge like this my rado should be on the road in no time! ok i have found somebody with some mk.4 golf rear calipers, not sure what model there off though, you think they will be ok?? also are the corrado rears the same as mk.3 golf rears?
-
i was very tempted by the highsports but the website i was looking at says you may need to uses spacers with the standard wheels, anybody know about this?
-
is it any mk.4 golf rear calipers or just like gti's?
-
thanks a lot for taking the time to reply, how do you find the highsports? i want the car to be low but not low enough not to cause me any trouble with people in the back and speedbumps and stuff!! im not to bothered about the ride being harder as long as its not over the top, any feedback on the highsports would be great. i will look into the mk4 rear calipers, sounds like a good idea! would still like to know what oil the rest of you use in your vr's. look forward to getting involved on here, i dont have any pics yet as im not happy with all the stone chips on the front!!
-
hi, i have just got a vr, i will post pics when its on the road, i have a few pressing issues i could really do with some help on please the suspension is shot so needs replacing, i want it lowered but not too harsh a ride which of these would be best? - weitec hicon gt coilovers - fk silverline or highsport coilovers - or the koni ta's with h&r springs? also i need to drop the back axle to fit a new standard vw exhaust i got hold of, is there anything else i should really replace while i am messing about with the back axle? i also need a new rear caliper, or a new seal kit for one, which other cars shared these calipers, a golf? and finally where is the best place to buy the suspension from and which is the best oil to use, will some 15/40 gtx magnatec do the job? if any of you could answer some of the above it would really help,i need it on the road asap and then i can join in on the forum too! thanks! p.s i am aware there is a suspension thread but this just confused my decision making even more.
-
hi, my corrado is ariving this week and it needs new suspension, i want to lower it so it looks good on the speedlines and improve the handling without having to worry about wheel rub or too harsh of a ride. im talking about a maximum of like £500, so was concidering weitec gt or fk silverline coilovers, or a normal type susspension kit. i have read through loads of posts but am struggling, i like the look of the weitec hicon gt's, does anybody haves these or know anything about them?
-
i never knew vw did a stainless item? sure its not the standard steel one, because that has a stainless tail pipe section on it.
-
yea, i might jsut have to do the same, yours is looking nice inside. anyway thanks for the help guys!
-
i have jsut found out the problem, thoes with power outlet writen on the cap are intended for the boot and have a diffirent design to the lighter sockets in the cabin of the car which have little spring bits inside to grab the lighter / torch, problem solved, only im stuck with a usless £10 socket and need to go buy another!
-
yeah, i could do with somebody that has done this to respond then i know for sure
-
yeah, it seems the right size of socket, just dosent hold it in place if you get me? infact here is the exact one i bought - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-Bora-Ciga ... dZViewItem
