  1. Yeah, you'll be smiling for a week....and crying within a month! Mark my words  Ah these newbies, how soon they learn ;) :D Mike, I hope you have deep pockets...
  2. VR6 Struts are fine on a 4pot, I have VR6 gas suspension all round on the Plum.
  3. I don't think he's going to post them fella!
  4. yeah you'll need subframe and front cross member for the front mount too. Plus a bunch of other stuff like fuel pump and maybe even fuel tank. There's only one guy on here that went from 16v to VR but I think it was quite a ballache. He used to be called r4-ge but I think he is Chris on this new forum. In summary, it's a LOT of work. You'd be better off just buying a VR6 unless you know what you're doing.
  5. Ah. My 3 part LUK kit would be the ring, release plate and clutch plate then. Need to add the pressure plate. Pants. ---------- Post added 3rd May 2011 at 12:01 AM ---------- Previous post was 2nd May 2011 at 11:59 PM ---------- Damn it, why is that so cheap! Mine cost £50 and doesn't include the pressure plate. Argh. Thanks tony_ack, I prob should have PM'd you about the sachs one :/
  6. Ah sorry, I thought you were trying to diagnose rough running and noticed that the ISV had gone. I guess it's a good place to start!
  7. I've ordered a 3 piece LUK kit, but I don't think it comes with pressure plate. Isn't the pressure plate the thing that looks like a giant brake disc? Or am I getting confused.
  8. you sure it's the ISV and not one of the temp sensors / thermotime switch? That's gone on my 16v and it also won't idle when cold. The ISV is good though.
  9. Good deal :D let me know when you're around the Ox area.
  10. :/ But at least you have dundee cake.
  11. What's going on with Kip's brake discs! Looking a bit yellow / tarnished!
  12. maybe you have a rust magnet?
  13. if you don't mind keeping your foot on the throttle when idling, then I'm sure you could run without an ISV.
  14. i've been after a purple fleck set for a while, think it would suit the paintwork better than my blue and green fleck seats do!
  15. doesn't the splitter fit to the 3 arm things?
  16. omg john, are you kidding me! late purple fleck interior for under £100. Don't you think they should really go in a purple car? End of hijack.
  17. nice build, but remember to go back and answer questions! :D
  18. They're not THAT different. They have different suffix letters to denote trim level, and I seem to have had most of them in my hunt for the right one for a Corrado! The mk2 ones will be the same as yours Alex, as we're both early Raddo boyz. Here's a spare one I have, it's not PAS (so you'd need to cut the cooler pipe holes and mount it) but I'll let you have it super cheap! Apart from the extra apron section and the 2 square holes for the PAS cooler bar, I think they're the same part.
  19. Just read back through the last 40 odd pages, and remembered that I have a good thermostat, stat housing and water pump (new VAG) on the plum, so when I do the cambelt I will pinch those bits and put them on the Golf :D
  20. ok cool fair enough. He has a mirror too but my mirror doesn't have rust bubbling up around the glass :/
  21. Smoke on overrun might be PCV system.
  22. lol same :D ---------- Post added at 02:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:14 PM ---------- Does anyone know if I can mount the rear backbox of my 1991 Corrado onto my 1989 Golf mk2 GTi? I'm pretty sure they are both the hook-type mount and not the bar type as per later spec. That would be great as the golf exhaust box is blowing at the mo, and I have a whole powerflow system sat on the Plum not doing anything. Thanks. ---------- Post added at 02:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:16 PM ---------- Never mind, jumped back a few pages to a pic I have and it looks like the hangers are different. ---------- Post added at 02:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 PM ---------- He's selling a door, but it's LC5U and looks blue in the photo. Unless you've seen something I missed?
  23. The car sticker is quoting pressure for the standard tyres sizes and profiles. If you have changed the tyres, then you should go off the manufacturer's recommendations for the tyres, as the little tyre sticker inside the door shut doesn't apply to you anymore.
