  1. You've got some money. He's been sacked already. Sounds like karma has been working away in the background. A pleasing result I say.
  2. Scrappies aren't known for their embracing of technology ( email, phones, electricity). They're used to randoms with "assumed" names drifting in and plying them with metalic detreitus. I had a little stockpile of scrap that I ammassed before journeying out recently for the same reason. Exhaust, shocks etc. Like you say, not worth their time for a few shekkles. I'm sure if you had half a dozen rolls of lead off the church roof, they'd be on you like a tramp on a kipper.
  3. If the van is rockin', then don't come knockin !
  4. First class Paul. The low down shot you speak of appears as though you've just lit the tyres up. You've not sneakily crafted in an AWD system have you ? Side strips ? Great standard of work all the same.
  5. I saw that one. It's certainly not limited edition per-say, but it's not one of the common colours either. Looks like the seller is just attempting to grab attention. Can't blame him for trying.
  6. Thanks for the pictures. Still think white is one of the best Corrado colours. And also great to see my first Corrado being enjoyed and being shown. Not sure about the eyebrow spoiler though. A period accessory too far for my taste. Good stuff.
  7. Common sense wanted more like. What with the weather being as poor as it is, we're staying home. So feel free to buzz round, or I could swing by yours if it's easier. I'll have your parcel shelf as well, if it's up for grabs ?
  8. Went over to the walk in centre (mainly to make sure it wasn't infected), where they were happy it wasn't serious enough for me to require hospital treatment. Though they were wondering how on earth it happened. I'd been slapping plenty of E45 and Vasoline on to keep the moisture levels up. And that's exactly what they told me to keep doing. It's not hurting anymore, but I can't open my mouth to eat that well. The scabbing/cracking is stopping me from doing so. Just as well Jo has made a soup for tea ! Spent most of today stripping a Mk2 Raleigh Chopper apart. Going to give the frame a respray, rebuild all the mechanicals and have all the chrome work re-done. Hopefully with a bit of summer left to spare. But for now, back to the indoors where Jo has very kindly handed me a glass of Jura. At least I can feel great, even if I don't look so
  9. Nice touch of period class there Jay. And hopefully should look right on the money with the rest of your interior. I've dabbled with a few Momos over the years, mainly due to the gauge of the wheel and have settled on my favourite one, which design wise is not a million miles away from yours. Never been a fan of the OE Corrado wheels "feel". They look alright, but personally they just don't fit right. Be sure to post up an installed shot when you get a momo-ment (tee-hee !)
  10. Thanks for the encouraging words gents. It fills me with dread when I run through what happened, and how the outcome could have been different. Fortunatly Oscar was indoors at the time Alan, though he did dash outside when he heard the "woof". Jo thought a wood pigeon had hit the window. And she was indoors fifty feet away ! Just really annoyed with myself. A sudden rush of blood to the head, for what ? Saving myself a couple of hours gardening duty. Think I'll spend Wednesday in the safer arms of the garage, drinking tea and cleaning arches. Though I may nip to the walk in centre with my burnt lips and slightly oozing face first.
  11. What a day. Cut all the lawns and decided to cut back the brambles that have crept in from the field. Was taking what felt like forever. Decided to take a short cut and pour petrol over the area and burn them into submission. In my haste, I failed to notice that I was rather close to an area that "I thought" had gone out. Before you know it, there's a big explosion and I'm rolling around on the floor with my hair on fire. I've lost my eyebrows, eye lashes, nasal hair, a clump of my fringe, blistered part of my face, neck, and lost the skin on my lips. A shower, lashings of E45, tea, ibuprofen and three bottles of Bud and I'm feeling a great deal better. Only just stoped shaking though. Jo came rushing out hearing the explosion, to see me rolling around on the floor. I wouldn't have minded having a couple of hours on the car today. That's had the cosh put on it now. Really annoyed with myself. Lost three hours garage time. May be out on Saturday. Give me a bell first. I'll have that bumper plate off you though. You finished the Mini yet ?
  12. That's cool, thanks all the same. If there's anyone out there with a part number or even (very unlikely considering where it's located) an excellent condition one then please, as always get in touch by posting on this here action line or on the back of a postcard or sealed down envelope. In the mean time, back in the garage today to carry on with the cleaning of arches. Just have to mow the lawn first (so I can earn garage points) !
  13. Not an ITV fan as a rule, but the coverage is very good indeed. They get the serious/nerd balance spot on. Saw the side cars last night. Kind of got distracted by the Jubilee celebrations tonight, but back on it for the rest of the coverage. Fancy another trip over next year. Last time I visited I met John Surtees in the paddock. Nerves of steel them lads.
  14. Stirling work Paul. Are those new heat shields, or have you breathed new life into them ? If so, what did you do/use ? Mine are heavily corroded / pitted and am unsure which route to take next.
  15. Thanks Paul. That's very kind of you to flag this up for me. If you could furnish me with a part number and price as well please, I'll add it to the parts list. Whilst we're on the topic of random parts of metal. Could you help with this one please. It's a shield from the front of the fuel tank. You can see the shapes where the tank straps hug it. It's a steel part but alas doesn't appear to be on ETKA. I've looked for a stamped part number, but to no avail. It needs replacing as it's too far gone to be restored. Whilst I'll try the electrolysis treatment all the same, I don't hold much hope.
  16. Sure the heated seat relays are behind the passenger rear doorcard. Squeeks and rattles drive me daft. The amount of times I've crawled around the car whilst Jo is driving, clutching a towel to cloak any noise. Trying to work out where it's coming from. Just got an intermittant noise from the passenger door card to resolve now. Then another can appear !
  17. Put a jack under the door first, to support its weight. Then as said above. Don't put the card back on until you're happy all the functions are working. Allow a full day if swapping all bits over. You may need rivets and a rivet gun if you're changing the motors over. Best of luck.
  18. I knew I'd heard about Deox-C before. And low and behold it was your thread Aide. I'd already posted on the next page! I've got about half a dozen parts, but about twelve dozen bolts to do so I it looks like there's a purchase in the offing. Can't believe the results. The battery clamp looks almost new. How did you get on with the body schutz ? Does it blend in well ? How did you get in with finish ? Did you use a gun ?
  19. I agree Chris, the results simply blew me away. The rust just brushes off, and with a light washing is ready to be prepped for paint. I didn't include images of the setup as mine is almost a carbon copy of the one in the link above. My only difference was that I used an old piece of steel tube, bent around the inside of the bucket in place of the rebar. Battery charger wise, I just used my old charger that I've had for about 20 years. It's got two settings, normal and boost. I used normal. Obviously I can't comment on long term tests but the results so far are great. Just need to rig up a bigger vessel as I've already out grown bucket number one. Left carrier number two in today whilst we all basked in the welcoming, warm arms of our old friend Summer. Fingers crossed she'll grace us with her prescence on Sunday and I can dive headlong into another electrolysis bath. Not literally mind !
  20. Well boys and girls, the good weather is upon us and it's at this time when all the cars we hoard away from the ravages of the English climate come out to play. So if anyone is lucky enough to spot a Campaign, then please let us know. A photograph would be great. Details on where it was would be better. And any owner info would be off the scale. Show season is with us, so please keep this thread in mind and enjoy your Corrado ownership in this beautiful weather. Happy hunting James
  21. Had a little dabble with electrolysis this week. What with everything getting a good shot blast and paint I was ready to tackle the steering/hub knuckles and brakes/carriers. Thing is that I wasn't happy to have them blasted. The main reason was the possible damage to bearing surfaces and internals. So with that in mind, I found a how to guide on the internet and proceeded to have an experiment with one of the worst parts: I left the carrier in for about three hours. Only doing one side so I can get a better idea of before and after. To be honest, the one cleaned up was in a worse state than the untouched one. Finished articles after a dusting of primer/high temp paint:
  22. The seller has 553 posts on the orange wheel brigade website. No surprise at the lack of social grace then ?
  23. My old car ! Let's have the those snaps chaps please.
  24. Have a wonderful national day everyone. Sadly I'm unable to attend ( again ). My participation in the re-arranged Lancashire league final has put paid to that. As nice as Garswood is, I'd rather be on the bank at Brooklands. Wishing you all well and here's hoping for a sunny day. All the best, James
  25. Tapas That's a little sweetie though. Original dealer plates, national trust sticker, Hazel Dean tapes. Started to re-look at red on a Corrado with a new opinion. Seeing as every other car built there-after seems to be silver. That's one to cherish. Hopefully the cars pricepoint will proclude interest from the orange wheel brigade. Sadly for me, it's a reminder of how bad my paintwork is. Boo hiss...
