  1. What a great looking car. Picture four is just awesome. Paint looks wet to the touch it's that good. Kudos to you sir. You must ge very proud. What's next ?
  2. What happened to the screen Paul ? Not suffered any damage I hope ? And do my eyes decieve me, or are those Oakley glasses bags over the h'brake/gearstick ?
  3. What have you gone and done now ? As if fixing up a Corrado wasn't traumatic enough ! Hope you're handy with a welding torch though. What's going on with the engine ? Those supports dont look standard. Discuss...
  4. Looks like one of those auto art pictures you see at shows. Little business idea there perhaps...
  5. James.

    this is nasty

It looks like a childs toy ! Love the cracks on the front bumper mod in the third picture. That sir is "outside the box" thinking.
  6. More listed: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/**soulboy**/m.html?item=170829926005&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649&_trksid=p4340.l2562
  7. You mean you haven't asked ? Strewth, please remind me to sit down before you tell us. Bet your local dealer's just booked two weeks in the Seychelles after you left. Is this for fitment 2013 or part of a steady stream replacement programme ?
  8. That looks spot on. Not usually a fan of wing vents, but that is really subtle. Wheels and spacing are right on the money as well. Job done, sit back and light your pipe for a job well done.
  9. Good spot of thorough masking going on there. Why is it when I see newsprint in the background of a picture, I can't help but read it ? So what is superclass ? How does it differ to concours ?
  10. Thanks Kip. Thought your VR was pretty much perfect. Price was like the old darts score (he says making a voice like Russ Bray) £ 180 ! Last lot was cheaper, but there were more items this time (36). Half a dozen were blasted but not painted. Plus there's a new man in charge. Hopefully when I drop the knuckles and brakes he'll be a bit kinder in the price front. Not that I'm complaining with the price and quality ! All first class.
  11. So where do you think they went Jeremy ? Apart from Jimbo popping up every blue moon it seems they've gone into hiding for good. Or is it possible they've been decomissioned on a more permenant basis ? Is it fair to assume that they're owned by enthusiasts ? And if so, is it fair to assume that they read this forum ? I don't know. I'd dearly love to see another. If for nothing else than to cross reference some parts from mine. But as I've seen the grand sum of ONE in my lifetime, then perhaps I'm being un-realistic ?
  12. Thanks Alan. Great news on the timing and made up that it's driving up to par. 16 valves really do run like the wind when held up in the rev range. Lots of repeat dousing in penetrating oil over the course of a few days should see the nuts free off. I had to intruduce a little heat to mine, but a little patience won the day. You'll have to be careful. At the rate you're working, you'll have run out of jobs by Christmas !
  13. Well the car has run very well over the past couple of days. Slight issue with fueling that seems to have resolved its self. Popped in to Corkills VW about an hour ago and the relay I ordered had arrived. They even pressed the bearings out of my Vr6 knuckles to be shot blasted (cheers chaps). Little snippet of info though. Looks like relay 18 has been superseeded. It's now relay 644, and it's green ! To be fair, I don't mind what colour it is, as long as it works. And work it does. Rain away oh ashen sky, for no longer do I fear thees watery laden threats...
  14. Ger: must be the same VR6. Saw it at speed, so couldn't see the driver. Can't be that many in that colour in that neck of the woods.
  15. Good spot oh Anorak wearing one. Have you ever tried grinding down the small nodes on the inside of the arm. I was lead to believe that this can help apply additional force to the blade ? What's the outcome ?
  16. Is it repairable ? Only ask as I may be in the market for my next project. Seeing as I'm practically in Skem anyway etc etc... Yeah I remember it from donkeys back. Probably 2000/2001. I worked out in Southport and bumped into the owner. Billy I think his name was. He was a binman from/on the Wirrall (sounds like a Beatles song). He found it covered in moss and cat paw prints on the drive of a well healed elderly woman that he used to be the environental re-assignment officer for. After that I feel it may have ended up in your posession.
  17. Playing football in the morning, so hopefully will be able to make it. What with it being 3pm, gives me more of a chance. Jay: Any chance you could bring the laptop/vagcom ? Really want to get it scanned, what with all the electrical issues I've had this week.
  18. From here the paint looks like glass. Certainly looks like a high standard of repair. What's next then ?
  19. I was in the dealer last week and it seems that most of the heat shields are either obsolete or absurd prices. i'm going to look at re foiling mine. The only thing that really lets them down is the corrosion that has affected where they mount to the body. The parts held on with the round clips. Keep us posted with how you get on.
  20. I've seen a few round that neck of the woods over the past couple of years. blue G60 and Red 16v in Criccieth. Blue VR6 in Pwhelli and a Blackberry VR6 in Abersoch. Must be something in the water. You still got the 16v Louie ? I remember this car from the NW meets many moons back. And the bin man who owned it before you. What's wrong with it ?
  21. Your life (and wallet) will never be the same. Didn't have time to go ferreting under bonnets at the NW meet. What's yours like then ? Bung some pictures up, so we can see a before and after.
  22. Me as well, cheers. Ignition switch rushed me £24 (normally £27). Ordered it on the Thursday morning and picked it up on the Friday. Relay 18 is £13 but on back order till Tuesday. Hopefully it won't rain between then and now. Like I said before, It needed changing, and the difference is significant, so well worth doing. It's not as hard to do as some make out as well. Just been out and given the loom a last inspection and to tidy the car up. Zip tied it all in place. I'm still not happy with the way it's been routed, but short of spending a good day at stripping it all back and rewiring it'll have to do. Just in case, I've left all the trim and cowling off. Holding a couple of spare relays/fuses in a pot in the boot. You just never know with electrics. One second you've fixed it. The next, you're sat in a side road fumbling round on your back (Like my courting days !). Work tomorrow. Let's see how it holds out.
  23. Thanks as always for the positive comments chaps. Not quite confident about booking a MOT just yet, as there's a very long way to go. But have set a "lightly pencilled" deadline for the end of the year. Would have liked to have it ready for 2012, but it wasn't so there's no point rushing it now. I was looking to restore "a car" Jim. I had my heart set on a sherry VR6 with a cream recaro interior which I spotted for sale. Just so happened that this popped up at about the same time. Glad it did now. Andy, I'll give you a shout when it's ready for you to collect. Hope you're not in a rush.
  24. Great news that you've found the car of your dreams. Links to the pictures don't seem to work for me. But it sounds great, even without them.
  25. Pow and the dirt is gone. Literally, hot off the press. The parts are (like AC/DC) back in black and in fine fettle. Will set to the underneath of the car in the next few weeks. Get all the arches cleaned and finished off. Loom wrapped and then kick off the rebuild. Mainly because I'm running out of places to put all the parts. I'd better crack on. Had a little sit in the cabin. It reminded me what a nice place to be it is. Even though the view is obscured by dust sheets. Also very glad that I spent the last few weeks "having a go" and removed all the rear end. It was the right decision and It's re-lit the flame for me. Small but important steps.
