I'm looking at getting original VW ones now, from my VW dealer. are they still available, as they seem unsure? if not, are there any other VW ones that would fit that would still be available from VW. also, are there just 2 mounts on a 2L 16v?

ah, good idea. will look into it

bloody hell. thats quite a bit. got the front mount done a while ago, so will just go for the rear to start i think i fthey're that much!

what do people consider to be the best engine mounts, specifically for smooth running without any vibration? there's quite a few out there and i'm not sure which ones to go for. i've heard the gsf ones are a bit poo, so i'll steer clear of those i think. any links to where i can buy them would be good too. cheers

where abouts can i pick up fabi mounts from?

i suspect my rear engine mount may need replacing. i had my front one done a while ago as it was shot. i feel engine vibration quite a bit when i put my foot down, and although most of it went when i replaced my driveshaft, the only thing left to cause it (i think) is the engine mount. is there any way of telling, other than vibration, if your mount needs replacing? the rear one is simply there to be compressed and absorb any shock isn't it?

hi, just wondering what people think the best oil to use on my 2L 16V is?
-
seems to have sorted it. went for a long trip at the weekend and no vibration on the motorway. huzzzah! :D
-
getting driveshaft swapped tomorrow, think that should sort it, fingers crossed. idles ok now too.
-
depends how much you're looking for them! i was going to tint mine to save some pennies!

no probs! :D never seen that post before, bloody fantastic! will give it a go soon when it's not pissing it down outside!

anyone on here tinted their rear light clusters to avoid spending 100 quid on tinted or clear replacements? i'dideally like smoked rears, but was wondering if i could tint the orange section red? I'm aware tinting often looks a bit shit, so wondering if anyone's done it well?! :) anyone?

ive just had my door card off to sort out a rattle, but when i removed it, the thin metal pulley that the plastic door pin screw on to dropped into the door. I can't for the life of me see how it fits back in. it must clip onto the white plastic clip/runner on the door lock, but there doesn't seem enough on the metal pulley to clip or hook onto it. I had it reted in there, but it came loose immediately when i touched it. I'm wondering if it's broken somehow. should the pulley have a hook on the end to slot into the small white plastic runner on the door lock? that probably doesn't make any sense to anyone unless theyve just done exactly the smae thing!!

rear engine mount is fine, had a new front one installed but made no difference

worth a go. i think it's got to be something driveshaft related to be honest. i'll let you know how it goes! thanks again
-
thats great, cheers man. the rough idle has been pretty much sorted now, its just the vibration. i'll set about getting a replacement driveshaft!! thanks again.
-
cool, did you replace both, and how much did it cost you in the end?
-
hmmm, not sure then. have you tried getting to the wiring of the little door switch? maybe the alarm is linked to that too. maybe disconnect it and see if the problem see occurs?? sorry i cant be more help!

as ive just had my post locked, i'd better bump this one. I'm still haveing problems with the vibration at about 3000-3500rpm. ive changed the front engine mount to no effect, and the heat shield by the driveshaft is secure. could it be something actually on the driveshaft or the shaft itself? anyone?
