Thanks for the help guys managed to get the whole lot done before it went dark...haven't driven it yet but she looks sweet. Wanted to take some pics but battery died on my camera! Another mistake i made was that i forgot to measure standard ride height before i started...will do some measurements and take some pics next week i think. If i was to do it again iId definitely find a driveway i could use...reckon working on the road slowed me down a lot. Also if anyone else is doing this go easy on the top mount allen key bolts...i ended up cracking mine at the top(Don't ask :)) and couldn't get hold of a impact gun so i had to drill 2 of them out....it was a painstakingly slow process! But all in all it went smoothly i think! Next long drive will be to trimwizard in horsham (!) week after next....hope i tightened everything up properly! :?

sweet i'll use the FK nuts then....nearly done the fronts should have it wrapped up today...although still can't drive the car cause of an immobilser fault :( Cheers for the help fellas! rgds, Harin

You know i thought that never sounded right when i was typing it! :) No the FK nut doesn't thread onto the old shock. Goes about 1/3 of the way in then becomes really hard to rotate.

Quick (probably silly) question....I'm fitting Fk Highsport coilovers to my VR6 and have hit a small problem. The FK kit comes with 2 bolts, one goes above the bush and the rubber mount (number 6 in the original suspension pic attached) and the other above all of the that (number 5 in the pic). Now in a "The Golf" mag how to its says use the original rubber mount bolt but the threading on the bolts seem to be slightly different and it doesn't want to screw on properly (pic attached of 2 bolts). My question to anyone who's fitted an Fk coilover kit: is it okay to use the FK supplied bolt as it is thicker and like a normal bolt whereas the VW one is thinner and has a small lip on it. I don't want to risk trying the VW bolt and ruin the thread on the new suspension. Any help would be much appreciated. I am so close yet so far! rgds Harin

After a long line of issues with the car...and over a month off the road, i finally thought it was going well after having a positive drive home from the mechanics :)....But i guess it was never going to last! Disconnected the battery yesterday to clean up the wiring around it (Amplifier cable was a bit messy) and after connecting it back i found that my alarm and immobiliser has packed up too - so no more car again :( Spent 2 days trying all those reset procedures with no luck...so now I've given up! (and put in the BMC instead...it sure looks good!). Anyway i gave Andy (the trimWizard) a call and he was extremely helpful and definitely knew what he was talking about. I'm hoping to get the car to him very soon to put in a cobra 7928. More waiting....*big sigh*...

Hey guys, Okay il give you guys the short version(Sorry for the essay): I ordered a Black Diamond clutch (Model no. DPC8036 for my VR6) from http://www.blackdiamondbrakesonline.co.uk/ before Christmas and it took them until the new year to actually order it. Another 2 weeks later and the excuse they gave was that Black Diamond had built the clutch and it had failed its pressure test. After another day i call them up and they say they've managed to get hold of one for me and will be getting it straight out to me. Now i am a bit suspect as to what they have sent me. I asked for a Black Diamond clutch and what they sent doesn't actually look likes its made by Black Diamond...it looks like its made by Sachs. Now i know Sachs make parts for a lot of other companies but do they make parts for Black Diamond? Ive attached some pics of the clutch below and i was wondering if anyone recognizes the clutch as being Black Diamond. Also the clutch is yellow and smells of fresh paint...If i dig my nails in the paint comes off! Am i being ripped off? Is this just a standard clutch? Cheers for the help lads...got it sorted eventually and in time for my re-test :) Unfortunately the car is with the mechanics as i started getting some serious power loss last week! I'm just hoping its nothing serious cause all this work is eating into my suspension/wheels fund! Harin

Another quick question.....do i need spring clamps to do this? I'm getting different answers from different people. I've got a 95 Corrado VR6. Cheers, Harin

Yea they had it jacked up...i checked myself again today...it did have more play then the other side...mostly when i moved the wheel up and down. Cheers for the replies will have a go at changing them when the parts come in....will let you know how i get on!

Hey guys, Its not been a good week for my VR6...had a bad rad leak early this week...car seems to have lost a lot of power too (when i put my foot down i hear revs but the car take a while to speed up!) and went to MOT my VR6 today and it failed. And to top it all off my mechanic has disappeared :( Anyway enough moaning....i need your help on the reason of the MOT failure: Nearside front upper macpherson strut has excessive movement in the upper support bearing assembly [2.5.B.1b] Does anyone know what this means and what part i need to replace? Is it the strut mount which you can see from the engine bay? I think the pic below is only the bearing do i need the bushes too? strutmounts_f05.gif[/attachment:2was89a1] If it the strut mount how hard is it to replace and it there anywhere i can look for some advice? (I can't seem to find a haynes manual for the corrado...did they even make one??) I have no choice but to do this myself this week so your help would be much appreciated! Thanks again, Harin
