The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
Chris Smith replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Removed front bumper, ready to be resprayed. -
All done, bumper is getting resprayed on Tuesday. Lovin' it! :D
-
Cheers guys! Yeah it's the front bumper. I reckon I'll tackle it tomorrow. Why is there a need to support the engine? Does it connect to the bumper somehow?
-
Hi Guys, Need to remove the bumper off my Corrado. I'm having it resprayed. I've heard it's just 2 bolts, is that right? Is it an easy job? Anything I need to look out for before diving in?

'rado off road for a while - need an out-door cover

Those Stormforce ones cost a pretty penny! Is it worth spending over £100? I'm also looking for a cover for my Corrado, I'll probably get a waterproof/breathable one on eBay. They're going for about £20.00. -
One word Dub-star... WOW! I wish my rado looked that good!

Whats the best MPG anyones had out of a Corrado?

VR6 - Standard. Drove from Oldham to Sale, GTR Manchester - about 15 miles on the motorway. Just cruisin'... -
Alright chaps, I feel like a heathen scum posting this on here, but here goes! I bought a Mk2 Golf GTI 8V Digi yesterday. Planning on using it as a daily driver to take the strain off my Corrado. It seems to have a problem. When slowing down, shifting my way down the gears, it has a tendancy to stall as I select a lower gear. The revs seem to be coming down too low after lifting off the gas, if it doesn't stall the car struggles at sub 900rpm and then idles alright at about 1000rpm after a second or two. Any thoughts as to what this could be?

SWEET!Got it sorted. Thanks guys. Had a bit of a pain draining all the PAS fluid, but got there in the end. I didn't bother taking off the pump drive belt or priming it by hand. After a few turns of the wheel (about 25 times each way!) and a banging it with a spanner all the air came out and it's now silent. :) Also found the leak on the coolant system, a rubber hose has disintigrated inside and has sprung a leak, I'll be down to VW to order a replacement on Tuesday.
-
Cheers! Can I just top it up with some new fluid or do I need to drain and re-fill? Any ideas about draining the coolant?

I've been trying to sort a coolant leak on my VR6. I began trying to empty the coolant system and accidentally disconnected the wrong hose. I thought the power steering pump was the thermostat or maybe the cooling pump... So when brown oily liquid started pooring from the hose I quickly plugged it back on to the power steering pump. Now when I start her up my power steering pump is not a happy chappy. It's making a grunting/groaning noise every few seconds. As you may tell I'm pretty new to this. Is there anything I can do to remedy the power steering? Also, I've really struggled getting the bottom radiator pipe off. I was told not to use the bleeder on the crack pipe, as they're a known weak spot. Is there another way of draining the coolant?
-
Hardly anything. There's a pin which holds the selected height of the steering wheel in position. It had worked itself loose, so I pushed it back in place and applied a little locktight screwholder to keep it in place.
-
After doing a little work on the steering wheel height adjustment mechanism, my power steering seems to have become excessively light and easy. While this makes it easier on my arms, I feel as though I've lost alot of feel for the car's handling. My steering used to be reassuringly firm and direct, now it feels light, fluffy and almost uncertain... What could have possibly caused this?

Had a great day, I flippin love my Corrado! http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=lo ... 7700806005

Track day tomorrow! Gonna have fun. :D
-
Wow, these guys make the pipes to measure and do all the flaring for you! Nice :D How was your experience with this company Corsameal?
-
A diesel in a Corrado! :gag: I used to own a Bora 1.9TDI 130 PD, the engine in that was awesome. On second thoughts, I guess it would be quite nice to get the power and MPG of a modern diesel in a Rado.
-
I hear a slight 'tap tap tap' as the engine turns over on idle. Reckon this is just the cams or could it be the chain tensioner on it's last legs? I feel like I'm on egg shells with this, any strange noise, 'WHAT'S THAT?!'
-
My local VW specialist garage said it would cost in the region of £1200! He advised it's not worth worrying about until you can hear the chain rattling.

I'm going to a track day at Oulton Park in February. I'm in two minds about taking the Corrado, I really don't want to prang it or wring it's neck and end up blowing the engine or the brakes etc. But on the other hand I'd love to put it through it's paces and see what she's really made of. Have any of you guys got any experience of track days? I might take the C and drive it conservatively, but there's always the risk that some other numpty loses it and takes me with him. Another thought is that I may snap up an old banger on eBay and thrash that around the track. Any thoughts?

And who can forget this one?! I love it :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ex7Uu5x6ssY

Hahaha, VDub in da house. eBay baby! Pretty cool aren't they. They seem to have been an American marketing gizmo. I saw one for sale on eBay in the USA for $30.00.

haha, I can't control myself, just bought a couple of lovely wedding dresses.

Woah! That must've hit something solid

I was driving my Corrado today and I got a very pungent smell of burning oil. I was then met with smoke billowing out from beneath the bonnet. The oil leak seems to have grown. The smoke was coming from the point circled in red in the picture below. Any ideas as to why this might be happening?
