Well I have now been told by The Phirm that they do some kind of thing to make your gearstick a lot more positive and shorter shifting, so like quickshift, sounds like something I would like to try. Still unsure what to do to get the best from my engine through the gearbox though, G60 box, G60 box with different ratios, Mk3 Golf 2.0 16v box, Passat box, so much on here about it I am now totally confused which way to go

All these details would be useful mate, parts numbers maybe if at all possible, does the box need to come out for this mod?

Cheers guys, so this is not something wrong? I don't know if I have got you right but do you mean you can take it into neutral without the clutch and back into gear still without the clutch, well I can't do that. I have to press the clutch pedal to the floor again to get it back into gear from that neutral position but it just doesn't feel right when it is so loose. Any ideas if there is anything that can be done? Thanks again everyone

Hello everyone, I was going along with my hand on my gearstick, that is where I like to rest unless I need two hands on the steering wheel, well I was in 2nd and my gearstick is a bit loose feeling but it moved into a neutral position without me putting my foot on the clutch. I can't remember it doing this before my new clutch but it is worrying. Can someone please tell me if this is ok, if not why it may be able to do this and how to sort it out, other than putting both hands on the steering wheel, lol. Thanks very much everyone, Paul

Hey Flusted, I thought that was because you tried a 1.8 16v box from a Corrado and that the Passat 16v box is very different? Anyone please?

If I am going to get a VW Passat 16V gearbox for my G60 can someone tell me what reg, year, engine size, type of Passat, etc as I don't want to be asking for the wrong thing when ringing around. And, I have been told to get 1st, 2nd and 5th gears from a VR6 box, which VR6 would this have to be, same as above please. Any help with this would be great, thanks to anyone in advance

How much are we talking to have both front wheel bearing done, can anyone tell me please?

I have seen the same problem on my G60 and I have been told that it could be the crankshaft oil seals, being that my gearbox has a lot of play in it and the 1st and 2nd gears are difficult, the gear linkage also feels slack so I am now looking at what I can do, whether to try getting a Mk3 Golf GTI 2.0 16v box, does anyone know if this will be a good mod?

So, I went to powerbulbs and saw the H4 power bulbs by Philips, are people saying that this are the boys to go for and even better with an uprated loom, but not one from E-Bay. Any help with this would be great. A217 5 times a week, not good with crap lights but from what I have read bulbs need changing every 2 years anyway so it seems a uprated loom as well as new bulbs would help a great deal

Recently I have been having not much luck, when do I ever hey Darren. My clutch was done and the speed sensor was left off, it has now been put back on but my rear spoiler I have noticed recently is not working, not even manually, can anyone please advise me what to look for? My gear change is still not good after a VR6 clutch was fitted some time ago, it is slightly better when warm, I have spoken to the mechanic now and he says he bled the system and the slave and master cylinders were ok at the time but it feels worse now than before it was done, I am NOT accusing anyone here, I am simply asking for advice, please? My brake pedal is also a bit worrying, has a lot of travel and then feels soft, with new brakes pads, new rear calipers and new discs. My headlights are not very strong but it was sold to me with a headlight loom fitted, can anyone shed any light on this please, sorry about the pun but it wasn't intended. I have been told to use Mk4 calipers but you need to get the brake lines from C&R too I think but as most of the braking is done on the front brakes, I have been told I won't be worrying quite yet but thanks anyway Kev

Hi again, Pls help me with this as I am a bit confused, surprise, surprise. I have recently had front and rear brake discs, pads and handbrake cables fitted, I was advised by the mechanic that the handbrake couldn't be adjusted properly due to the rear calipers needing to be replaced. I took the car back to him and he said he would get the rear calipers from EuroCarParts, whilst it was with him I asked him to do a quick check on anti-freeze, etc I picked up the car, the handbrake is slightly better but I was charged £255 so I questioned this and was told that the calipers costed him £75 + VAT each, G60 calipers, I looked on the site and found this price to include the surcharge. If I am not mistaken should he not be charging me the surcharge and when he put the calipers on did he not need to re-adjust the handbrake cables and bleed the brake system? Any help would be great, thanks

Can someone please help me. I have had my clutch done recently and when I picked up the car at first I didn't realise it but then to my shock whilst travelling on the M25 I found my speedo wasn't working so I took it back to the guy that did the clutch and he replaced something on the gearbox but since then my speedo doesn't seem to be right. It is never below 10 mph, I can't remember if this is how it was before or whether this is right. Please help? Thanks, Paul

I have recently had a VR6 clutch fitted to my G60 and since picking it up it doesn't seem much better, I also asked the guy to put 2 litres of gearbox oil in it which I gave him, Motul stuff. When I picked the car up and drove it away I found the speedo to not be working which worried me especially as I was driving on the motorway, since he has come back and seemingly replaced a sensor the speedo never goes below 10 mph but I am unsure where it should sit when sitting in traffic for instance. Can anyone please tell me what to do and advise me if as the mechanic has said, that the syncros are needing looking at that this would be the reason or could there be something else, can the gearbox be fitted wrongly, I am not accusing this guy of wrong doing but I am concerned. Hi everyone, I need new rear callipers but I don't know where to go, the mechanic I am using says he gets them from Euro Car Parts but I was going to use GSF, he is getting them today, someone has said use Mk4 ones but I don't know how to get them other than searching breakers as they are an exchange part. I have an old alarm on my G60 and yesterday it started playing up again, not shutting the windows but it did shut the doors but then it wouldn't open the doors :0( fortunate I suppose that it didn't close the windows as I would have been in through the boot otherwise, I couldn't get the alarm to stop and then finally it worked, why all this happened I don't know but the keyfob thing is not very good and I don't really want to leave it much longer so I need to know what to stick clear of please? I have been told by some people to stick clear of Clifford but Huets Car Radio seem to think they are fine so if someone could let me know what to look out for that would be great.
