Back to the coolant levels a minute. if you are worried about running hot......change the theromstat. get the lowest one you can find. then get a lower temp fan switch with it that will run your fan a bit more, especially in stop and go traffic it will cool the engine much more. sounds like you like to "run" the car a bit if you want lower oil temps ........get the bigger oil cooler.

CCGB National Day Pictures & Chat! [56k Beware!]
DruidicCurse replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Cheers for the pics!!!! sounds like you guys had a great time. have to admit i am slightly jealous. i am currently looking around the SE US for any kind of Corrado activity. i went to a small car show the other day just looking around.......not planning on even being noticed. 8) i parked well away from the goings on. still i had people snapping pics and videoing my car in the lot. it was a nice feeling. :D just wish there were more C's around :( -
Yes, all C's had speakers in the doors. as well as on top of the dash.

I think its a matter of taste. Both engines are good. There are several factors though. The 20V turbo is a stock engine on the MK4's. I dont think the VR6 ever came stock with a turbo, has it? its been done in the after market, which can get rather expensive. So right there its a matter of economics. You can get a 20v turbo cheaper because it comes included in the price of the car. Another factor you can't dispute is valves = Horsepower. i think the VR6 although its weight is more puts out more HP. it would be fun to see the numbers on both engines side by side. this should prove to be an interesting thread. cheers Bournemouth James!! :D

Rotor arm is directly under the distributor cap. it should show signs of wear an corrosion. if so, change both of them. its an easy fix. as far as the plug wires go, you can use a regular screw driver and gently get underneath and help pry them off, while your pulling from the top. just make sure you dont bend or damage the leads. but it can be done.

The sepentine belt is the major belt on the car. it runs just about everything. however, the there is another belt that runs the power steering pump.this is called a vee belt. it runs around the water pump pulley, crankshaft pulley and the power steering pump pulley (if your car has AC). its a little belt, 9.5mm x 735mm. wise idea would be to change them both at the same time, unless you see more wear on one than the other.

yes James those are headlight covers, my C used to be my everyday driver and i didnt like cleaning the headlights all the time due to bugs and wanted to reduce the stone chip damage if possible, also i liked the way they make the whole front grill look black. they are easily removed, the just slide on and off whenever you want.

then that should be easy.........just use a straight pipe right on back. if you want it to bolt up nice then get the same sized pipe, or make that the place where the pipe expands the whole system. any good exhaust man can weld a nut on the pipe to hook the O2 sensor in.

Steve, i saw an after market bypass valve that allows you to keep the CAT and but yet has a switch in the cabin with the driver. so if you want to by-pass the CAT all you do is push a button and a valve switches over and poof the CAT is bypssed by a straight pipe. thought that was a nice touch, especially if you need the CAT for Emissions Tests. ill see if i cant find the web site again.

Not only info, but people that take a genuine interest in your Corrado and experiences with it. face it, the majority of the world has forgotten about this car or thinks its a Scirocco. the car is rare and to find others that share your passion for it ........its great. (speaking from personal experience of course) :D

i would also sugguest getting an RSR kit for the G-lader and removing the silencer box from the original unit. this will put more air into your intercooler....giving you a little better throttle response among other things. Bahn Brenner has them, check out their web site.

Welcome to the Forum...........you have stumbled onto a wealth of knowledge and experience dealing with this wonderful little car.

i bought my '90 Corrado in 1995. this is my eighth wonderful year of driving the best sport coupe VW has produced to date. there will never be another one like it.
-
i keep a pocket full of fuses around for that very reason. you just never know when one of those little buggers is gonna pop. glad it wasnt anything more serious.

I had a matching set of Pirelli P7000 z's in 195/50/15 the standard Corrado size. well without making a long story :x ........... i need two new ones. went all over looking for this model number. pirelli has stopped selling smaller tires. does anyone know the reasdon why???? i found two pzero system assimetrico in my size and snatched them up in a warehouse, but not before the salesman told me that they were discontinued too, but only in the smaller sizes.??? pirelli who i have used for years is leaving the smaller eport market dry. i know there are plenty of good tyre manufacturers out there, but you get comfortable with something you dont like changing. so the question remains........why is pirelli eliminating its smaller lines of tyres??? anyone please. :?:

glad i bought the RSR kit when i did.......they raised the sale price to $129.95 USD procrastination can cost you.
-
i picked up a magazine here the other day, i am not sure its the same one your talking about but its got a monster Corrado on the cover. A 420hp NOS nightmare of a car. i think the magazine i got was based out of germany called VW Scene.
-
i think if you look at their web site it says free shipping as well. i dont know if that applies to the uk, but its worth asking them. their system blots right up to the g60 in a matter of minutes almost painless.

i think since '95 when VW stopped production of the Corrado there are lots of people that have spread the rumor of a new Corrado. some have made photoshop images, some sketches, and statistics. if the people at VW would just listen to masses, we might get another Corrado. that web site says its not real, but if it was id go get one at the prices listed. they arent bad at all!!

Bahn Brenner in seattle washington has RSR kits on sale for $114 USD. i picked one up. sounds like a good idea for you Steve.
