techtonics has really good stuff, they arent cheap by any means so if your spending the money thats they way id go. i had a techtonics cat back on a GLI Jetta it did everything i wanted it to do. been thinking of getting the same for my Corrado. BTW........either of you guys belong to CCA? if so whats up with them ? i havent seen anything new on their web site in a year or more. later Mike

if all else fails i know of a vw dismantler in California that has a huge lot of nothing but vws. after searching and searching for badges for my car i called them....they shipped them right out to me. only hitch for craigbeal is that we didnt get the 16v Corrado in the US. we started with the g60 in 1990. gets harder and harder everyday to find parts for these cars. best of luck mike

i think 9 mm was stock the new belt is 11mm.

stevemac......you can go three routes....remove the cat  or open it up weld a pipe through it close it back up and put it back on make it look like its still functional  or buy a high flow cat from one of the performance companies. 8) if you have no vehicle inspection every year....id remove the bugger. just some thoughts.

Thats the one....the cog belt. i just bought a new wide one. good thing too......dont need that little puppy snapping on me. thanks guys for the info. felt a little foolish asking about a belt and having 8vg60 say there wasnt one, but he was right....its not inside its outside ....my bad choice of wording. thanks again for the help. mike :)

I sent my Corrado out to be painted and 4 weeks later i got it back. The guy did a crap job on the paint, threw away my roof trim, wiper squirters, and badges.   He also drove my car 550 miles from the time he picked it up to be painted. When he returned it he did it at night so i could not see the quality of work. i had a set of 4 Pirelli P7000 Z tires and he ran over something and ruined one of those.  and now i am finding out there is damage under the car.  i should have the car back this week after 7 or 8 weeks. :) Moral of the story: Be Careful Of Who You Let Work On Your Car!!!!!

Nice one, keep us informed as to the upgrades. we will be anxious to see your progress. :)

your lucky that you found a good man. i took my Corrado to a guy that had a good reputation as a body/paint man. it was a nightmare. he f*#k'd up my car badly. i am still fixing the mess he a made.

Bras are nice and look great and do have some great protective quality to them......but you have to be careful about leaving them on all the time. after a period the sun can fade the other parts of the car and leave your nose looking brighter than the rest of the car. also be careful of moisture getting underneath it.....could cause some unwanted problems.

Has anyone changed the belt inside the G-lader? i was told it needed to be changed every 30-40,000 miles. i fairly sure mine is still the originial. i have a replacement but was wondering how much was in changing it out. could be terrible if it went unattended and snapped.
-
if he is doing all those extras, thats not a bad price at all. just hope he does good work. i have seen some pretty shotty mechanics that will tell you one thing and give you another. ask around, unless you already know his work quality.

Cross between scirroco, corrado and lotus esprit

nice try but no cigar. maybe a different color would help. now maybe if they said it had a 5.0L turbo that might make it a little sexier  -
There are several good companies that make induction kits. Neuspeed, K&N , and Euro Sport to name a couple.
-
with all the new aftermarket stuff out there, i wouldnt drill the air box......id take it off, put on a high flow filter. the new ones have "walls" on them to keep the heat from the engine away from the filter. might see a much great increase in power with the oem air box gone. the filter kits arent that expensive and look at it this way.......it will be the first of many mods to come

Identifying members of the forum at the CCGB Day?
DruidicCurse replied to Rams's topic in General Car Chat
For those of us that wont be able to attend due to geographic reasons i sincerely hope someone gets some great pictures of the event as well as the procession up/down to the event. something about seeing a fleet of Corrados flying down the road makes my heart pound. maybe someone could capture it on video and make an mpg or avi and attach it to the site as a small download. just a thought and a hope. have fun. :D -
Mine isnt as low as Banana Man's but its pretty low....it wins most limbo contests it enters  around here anyway.... :D

Insurance is a killer. But as was said of earlier...it could have been a lot worse although any accident is a pain in the arse. getting the insurance company involved is not recommended.

how bad off is the car you hit?
-
how bad off is the fender? other than the dent near the light did it get pushed back any? or do you have trouble with the door opening?
