  1. I'd be interested if vr6 lee doesn't want it and if anyone on here can confirm it can be fitted to a 2l 16v. I've been on their website and the filter they show for a 2l 16v is a panel filter.
  2. Excuse my stupidity but is this a type of induction kit and does this replace the standard airbox? If so where do all the wires, metering equipment etc connect? I was under the impression that you could only fit a panel filter into a 2L 16V Cheers John
  3. Although they're not getting used much at this time of year I am still after new window rollers for my drivers side window. One keeps popping off if the window goes lower than half way so definately need at least one but would be keen to swap both if anyone has 2 they can bear to part with. Pleeeeaaase!!
  4. Cheers bud. Maybe I'm wrong with my explanation. It's actually the socket connected to the metal triangular bracket further forward under the dash that I'm stuck with. I thought the wires ran to that pin under the gearstick gaitor but maybe not. The one I need help with has 6 identical sockets with 3 plugs going in to it. No idea what its for. Think it may have to be trial and error
  5. Cheers. So on a 16v they are near useless anyway. Am I right in thinking they then go to the plugs attached to that triangular bracket then?
  6. It's the metal triangular bracket that the bottom of the dash attatches to, just infront of the heater box. If I knew what it was called or what it was for I might have been able to give it a relevent title but thanks for the advice vr6. 2 look like they connect to a few plugs under the gearstick gaitor. I've taken a pic and tried to attach off my phone but it won't let me sorry. ---------- Post added at 6:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:59 PM ---------- I'm not sure they even do anything as under the gaitor they don't plug in. Auto transmission maybe?
  7. When taking out my heater matrix there's a bracket sticking up infront along the centre console, there's 3 plugs going in, black which plugs in the topmost socket and a brown near the middle and grey near the bottom. I took the brown and grey out to remove the bracket. Problem is I didn't realise there were 6 socket holes and I don't know which they were in. Any ideas? Don't actually know what it is for either
  8. Hi. Did the heater control unit ever get sold off the late valver? If not are all dials working and fitting tabs still there and how much posted please. Cheers John
  9. Don't let it put you off though. Quality car that just gets better with age... if not a little more tempramental! I'm sure jusdging by your Lupo if you get a standard one it won't stay that way for too long
  10. Whichever model you go for will be very thirsty mate. Mines a 2L 16V and I drive down the A6 from high lane to stockport each day and get approx 18 - 20mpg from her. I have read on here that VR6's are at least as economical if not a little more so due to power to weight ratio. Either way mate a corrado will rinse your bank balance as anything that goes wrong.. and it often does.. is not cheap to sort out but I'm sure you already know that working at the Stealers :)
  11. Cheers mate :) That Lupo is a nice little motor too. Good luck with the Corrado search I'm sure you'll love it when you get one. I'll keep an eye out to see what you get
  12. Lupo with orange roof. Do you work at SKF VW in Stockport? If so I'm the Blue Corrado that works on the Industrial Estate behind the post office.
  13. Haha. Yeah point taken. Apologies but I thought it was fairly common knowledge that getting into them without a key is pretty simple. I stupidly managed to lock my keys in at one time while washing it reaching through the window to remove my keys from the ignition I inadvertanly managed to press the alarm fob and up the windows came with me hanging through the window. I panicked and pulled my arm out minus the keys. Felt such a tool. Luckily a guy that lived nearby worked for the AA and got me in. I was amazed at how quick he did it. Since then I've had to use the method myself when my battery died completely. The post made me look like a seasoned car thief too lol. Realised that after I had written it. Apologies Mods. Must engage brain before posting next time :)
  14. I'm with Adrian Flux and have been since I bought the car 10 years ago. Only ever been beaten on price once in that time and they price matched it anyway.
  15. Anyone else have a set of these?? I need a pair to fix my window as they keep popping off. Thanks
  16. This has happened to me quite a few times within the last week. It's just happened again before I managed to get into the forum. I clicked on from a google search and immediately got directed to the survey page shown in the attachment. I am on windows 7 running IE9 edit. forgot to say I have this morning run a malware scan and also cleared all the crap from my browser using C cleaner
  17. Thanks. Had a look and I reckon I'm going to plump for that one. Really not looking forward to this job again!! Thinking back it may be a bit longer than 2 years but not much. I don't remember being given the option of 2 different types when I bought it but if I did I don't think I would have gone for the cheaper option. If I did I consider it to be a lesson learned.
  18. Thanks for the reply. Update.... Just checked oil cap and looks fine. Done the head gasket recently and had a sniffer test done since then which came up clear. Its lost so much water this morning so there's none even visible in the expansion tank. Had another check of my carpet and its wet running down from where the matrix is. Great! :( Got that matrix from GSF and it can't be more than 2 years old.
  19. I'm losing a lot of coolant. Filled it up on friday, only done about 20 miles in 3 seperate journeys since and the light came on again this morning. Not sure if its related but when i started it this morning and left it running to de-ice it smelt like it was running very rich. There seemed to be a bit too much steam coming from the exhaust for my liking even after warming up and I noticed some coming from my window demisting vents after I had turned the fans off causing my windows to steam up. I know the obvious answer is the heater matrix but there's no sign of leakage eg. wet carpet and I have replaced this a few years back anyway. Any ideas?? Thanks John
  20. Hi all I've had a good flick through the threads relating to this but can't find an answer. Basically for some time my heater has only been working on position 4... this has been answered many times I hear you shout.... I have put up with this, didn't bother me too much to be honest but more recently it has become even more tempramental. Occasionally the heater would stop all together and this has now become more frequent to the point that it pretty much doesn't work at all. if i start the car and leave it stationary with the heater on position 4 it works fine but as soon as I start moving it cuts out after a short time. If I turn the heater off for a minute then back on it starts back up but then cuts off again pretty quickly. When it has cut off there is a very faint ticking noise coming from somewhere, this stops when I turn the heater off. Also it doesn't apear that the temp sensor readout is correct. When moving its not much higher than 70deg, when stationary it rises up to about 90deg but drops again when I'm moving. I've thought for a while that my heaters weren't getting very hot but have only just noticed this happening. I replaced the heater matrix about 2 years ago as I was getting steam through my vents and recently on the odd occasion I have had a steam expulsion from them again but nowhere near as bad. There was no evidence that the matrix was leaking eg wetness round the foot vents but my car was losing a fair amount of water from the expansion tank. Again it still needs topping up fairly regularly but not as bad as it did. Any Ideas as I reckon I should sort it before it gets too cold. Thanks John
