are the passat ones the same as 1.8 16v or 2.0 16v?
-
just read this through from the start - liking the colour, liking your new 17s too. not a fan of 17s on a rado, and didn't like the tt comps but the new ones look great. hope you get the car back to it's best, that's what i'm aiming for too...not easy :epicfail:

yeah this is what i'm finding out from net surfing :( may as well drop in an ABF instead :) i notice you have the 2.0 bottom end and flowed head - what pwer are you running?

Hey all, Looking into the possibility of upgrading the KR to get a few more ponies out of it. i know i can get a 50mm inlet but have no idea where or for how much? any ideas? i have a stainless ezhaust so am hoping there is an exhaust mani like a 4-2-1 available for the KR? how much and where can i get one? are there any cams the will give me better power that can bolt in from other engines or am i wishing too much? silly question as well, but i'm getting about 143bhp, could i expect 150+ if i get these upgrades on? cheers all oli

dave my fellow northampton man! are the bumper side supports the bits that attach the bumpers to the wings? do you have a part number at all? just broke the drivers side reversing off a drive and catching it on the curb...

so will 3mm LEDs work? or do i need bulbs? why do the window switch ones need to be different?
-
Early 16v Rado - looking to replace the LEDs in all my switches from green to red - quite certain all i need to do (simple obviously :help: ) is remove the switch in question, un-solder the old LED and replace with the new one. anyone know what LEDs i need? don't want to get the wrong ones from the wrong place...
-
mk4 gamma tape deck :) gotta love old school style. i'm trying to get hold of the CD portion to mount in the glovebox. once the switch LEDs are replaced with red it'll all match nicely :)
-
really nice ride vigge, i'm a fan of the yello so as soon as i can find some new headlights i'll be investing in some film to tint them :) good inspiration for people like me - can you get a pic of the extra wing on the spoiler please? would be interested to see this!! v-dubstar - go for first pic, yellow heads and fogs is the one man :)

well well 5 months since the last update! sorry, i'm sure the comedy that is my life has been missed by all. so, when last i posted i had just fitted the new door and managed to get the electric window up and working. this was only because i stupidly just cut the window loom in my haste to remove the old door. still, it's all go now. over the past few months i haven't done much due to buying a house, but now that is settling down i have a few more things up my sleeve. Took her to Stealth over in Southam and they tuned her on the rollers - was running lean and the timing was waaaaaaaay off. they retarded the timing and fuelled her up right and i got a healthy 143bhp :) not bad for an ol' girl with just a stainless on :) that was about 2 months ago, and since then she hasn't missed a beat. i've done a few little bits like oil change and new starter but that's it until this week. last night i successfully built the loom and re-wired the dipped beams to try to get some good output. not tested in the dark yet, but they do work, so hopefully i won;t need my main beams to see anymore! if anyone wants a diagram or part numbers etc on this then let me know and i'll see what i can dig up - i used matey-matey and it was really easy to follow. tonight i am taking delivery of yet another door :) the passenger window seal is bent and has scratched the glass badly and burnt out the motor, so rather than buying glass, motor and seal i plumped for a whole door. different colour i don't care as i have paint plans. oh, and i have a full OE exhaust coming my way, so any fans of twin upswept DTM style ss system drop me a PM and the current one is yours :) i'll try to get pics up but i honestly don't have any lol the real fun will start when i get to prep and paint ;)

a fully working sunroof? lucky b*stard..... nice and tidy though mate
-
right i've got a bit further. all the power comes through thre driver switch in the driver door, so i have piggybacked the earth (brown), illumination (red/blue) and live (red) between switches, and hooked up the passenger loom as it is in the passenger door. but now i am left with 2 switch output wires that would normally go to the motor, unfortunately, the passenger motor is in the passenger door!! lol any ideas?
-
it's getting there! it'been a hard old slog, from the over heating, the head gaskett, the water pump, the MOT and welding, then the door! i'll keep going though, i have long term plans so i need to get it running nice first :) speaking of which i have now managed to wire up the driver's electric window - it looks like a retrofit kit so i couldn't find a diagram anywhere! luckily i have clever friends! passenger switches to do this weekend, then i can concentrate on other electrical/mechanical issues. the poor ol' girl will be looking sorry for herself for a while but at least will be running sweet for an 18 yr old :)
-
cheers but it doesn't help! i only have 7 wires in the loom. it's the loops that are confusing me :( might bite the bullet and get it to an auto elec dude
-
right, pics lol this is how the loom is set up - the loops don't go back through the door, they appear to go from switch to switch (?) this is the switch set up on the drivers door and this is how i think it should be wired up. the purple lines are where i will make a connection could someone in the know help me out at all? i don't really want to waste a whole day getting it wrong lol cheers oli

hey all, upon fitting a new door i got hacked of and cut the loom without labelling up - yes, idiot i know - but it's done now and i'm stuck with it. unfortunately i now have to re-wire the switches and i have no idea what i am doing. it's the driver door, and the loom has 7 wires to attach to 2 switches (drivers window and passenger window). 4 of the wires are all together, a red, a green, a black and a red-blue. now i'm assuming these wire up to the driver switch as this is what is happening on the passenger side. and then there are 2 blue-black wires from the switch that go to the motor, so i'm ok with that (unless this is wrong?) but now i only have 3 wires to attach to the 6 pins on the passenger switch.... i have a red, a red-blue and a brown wire. if the brown goes to one of the switch earths, the red to the red switch and the red-blue to the switch red-blue then i am left with no wires and 3 more switch pins to connect. so i'm happy with all that - is that right/ now gets to the tricky bit for me. the passenger switch has 3 pins left to connect: 1 brown, 2 blue-black. the loom also has 3 looped wires. these look as though they came from one switch and bridged to the other. these are 1 brown, 1 red, 1 red-blue. my thoughts are that the brown connects the brown from the passenger switch to the corresponding brown on the drivers switch. yes? no? so i'd be left with 2 blue-black and the 2 loops of wire. if i connect the blue-black to the red loop and piggyback onto the same red on the drivers switch will this be ok? i know this is a lot to think of without a pic, but i'll try to get one done on paint!

wow it's been ages since i logged in. here's some pics of the crash site that was my joy rider nightmare lol just check out how far this poor micra shifted from it's space!!! the person responsible hit the pug, shifted it into the micra which shifted into my door. the door was dented in about 3-4" so to move 2 cars and do that damage to a third it must've been travelling! so i fitted a new door: had to cut away near the handle to get the handle out and door open. once done it wasn't a hard task though
-
right i've been ignoring cars for a few weeks and have missed quite a bit - but having read this and followed it for a while i am really pleased to see it go to paint. really happy for you dude, hope all your hard work is worthwhile and you stand awestruck looking at your new colour :D
-
got a door! it's blue but this is only serving to make me want to do a rattle-can respray :) when the missus goes to glasto for the weekend i will be up nice and early painting the ol' girl :) will keep you lot posted :)

friday night i got crashed into by some n0b-end in a nicked car - joy of joys. does anyone have a complete drivers door for sale pleas? there is a wanted post up also in the correct section - just trying to get the most coverage possible

right..pics of the MOT work then! this is all what my mate Kev did for me while i watched and brought him tea ;) nsf, jacking point nsr, where sill joins side skirt osf, base of wheel arch so we cut it all off with a rather large 10" grinder! awesome bit of kit. nsf, some of the jacking point has been chopped, but none of the sill box-section has been compromised nsr, Kev at work, and the neat hole afterwards then the welding began :) this was not fun....having to lie on your back, squeezed under a propped up rado with a welding gun 4" from your face. nice. but came out ok, although we blew through in a few areas :ignore: then my lame attempt at filler :) actually, i'm strangely proud of my first attempt. considering it was in the dark and snow with a small electric heater i think it came out ok.... although from this angle... haha oh well. when summer rolls around it'll re-do it and paint it in the right colour :) oli

yes please mate :) how much do you want for it Sorry mate somehow this thread stopped hitting my e.mail radar, I photographed the badge and then never posted back! Anyhow how about £10 posted?vw badge (Large).jpg[/attachment:15rotovg] Colin ah cheers but we got crossed wires! needed the red 16v badge for the 4 slat grill! don't suppose you have one do you?
-
^^^this is what everyone says^^^ i'm hoping that this is it now and i can concentrate on the little things like window motors and such. i'll clean her and get pics up...one day...
-
.....until last friday..........mot day story goes, me and my mate kev spent the saturday before welding holes for the MOT. i then spent the thursday night with a pot of p38 and copius amounts of dust making sure that there were no sharp edges where we had welded. it goes for the MOT and they found another hole! mustv'e happened when we were jacking it up doing the other holes. needless to say it failed and my mechanic also noticed the rear brake flexi hoses were naffed as well so i booked in to have these done. today come around and i drop her off for the welding, MOT and hoses. welding and MOT goes very well. i can now legally drive her for another 12 months. the hoses were a different storey. once removed, the entire brake line system crumbled and fell apart. queue new brake lines and more flexi hoses. so, £200 lighter, a lot angrier i clamber in to the seat, get it where i want it and drive. i start to smile again

to be honest, i'd have them if i was minted. was really just interested in how they work and whether they are worthwhile for the cash outlay. how would they work the metering head on the KR k-jet? would i have to purchase a standalone fuel management system too?
