I dont post here often as i normally can search and find the answers im looking for but my car has me stumped. I've got the problem of my VR6 cutting out at junctions and just general poor running (feels sluggish) and a little lumpy on idle . Last time i took it to the garage, after all the normal bits i ended up getting the injectors ultrasonically cleaned along with the throttle body cleaned out and it was better but it just seemed to prolong how long it took the car to start cutting out. ive changed relays, ecu and the other one i forgot the number, leads, plugs and engine speed sensor (crankshaft sensor) ive cleaned out throttle body and idle valve and ive checked the best i can for vaccum leaks. i assume it just all the hoses going to the throttle body and inlet manifold and the air intake system. So i thought i would have another go at cleaning everything and checking for leaks today, nothing obvious and VAG-COM is clear. Now in the past it has had cams and a re-map done as far as i can tell with a de-cat on it. i had to put a cat on it to get it through an MOT a couple of years ago and this problem didn't start until about 18 months later. Could the re-map be the problem? it was done by the Phirm, is this likely to be a piggy back unit that could have gone faulty? i cant see anything obvious on the outside of the ecu but could it be internal? these are all my reading from vag-com, does anything stick out like a sore thumb? values that change i have put as a range. 680-720rpm idle speed 89.9 degrees coolant temp 1.008-1.016 o2 3.8-6 BTDC 3.4ms injectors on time 217 degrees EGR temp 3% engine load 14.6 degrees throttle body angle 34.3 degrees air intake 00010 switch position 1.055 ISV adaptation 50% ISV duty cycle 0001 switch position 1.008 o2 active 0.821 idle adapted value 0.922 part throttle adapted 0.933 full throttle adapted Any suggestions would be appreciated as im a little annoyed being limited to 15 min journeys. Thanks

Hi, Does anyone have a picture of what a Supersprint Cat Bypass looks like for a corrado vr6? I'm not sure if mine has one fitted and its MOT time so you can see my problem. Dont want to go ripping it off it it is actually a normal cat i have Thanks

Thank you! Great little money saver mine arrived today, very quick too. I paid Tuesday evening and got it Thursday, fits and works perfectly Did have to get someone to help me with getting the arm in under the spring, its really useful to have an extra set of hands about -
Glad you fixed it, guess what i'm trying next lol would a dodgy crank sensor come up on vag com? i've ran it on my car and get no error codes
-
I have nearly a identical problem as you, mine seems to start abit faster then yours but i still have to crank it for a long time viewtopic.php?f=1&t=79526 Fuel pressure regulator is at the of the injector rail nearest the battery, its looks like a little canister almost, with a air pipe linking it to the inlet manifold, its a £70+ bit from VW so pretty pricey part to replace and find out it dosent fix the problem like i did lol i'll be watching this thread closely to see if you fix this problem before me, next on my list is fuel filter... it seems like a starvation problem is there a strong smell of petrol or any smoke after it fires up?
-
Tried the ignition switch today still no better. I'm gutted I've had this problem since two days of ownership and it's stopping me enjoying my car fuly I'm out of ideas, can anyone suggest anything or a good garage that knows corrado's in the portsmouth area? Thanks
-
still got this problem. i've changed the fuel pressure regulator since my last post, which i thought had fixed the problem because on the first attempt of starting it,even after completely de-pressurising the fuel system it fired straight up, but after the car had sat there all night back to the same problem and has been the same everyday since so back to the drawing board, any more suggestions?

well i still have this problem and so far i've done new blue temp sensor new plugs new leads new fuel pump relay new fuel pump fuse new ECU relay cleaned ISV I've vag com'd, theres no error messages. Angle of throttle with no pressure on it is 13.7 degrees Its just bad cold starting, warm starting is fine. Idles fine and stable any more ideas? i'm all out

I'm confused by the ETKA picture. Has both the coilpack and dizzy parts and one common set on leads by the looks of it but the ones on my car our totally different
-
Really! are there any part numbers or any other codes i give them to let them know what i need, I've looked on ETKA and put in all the numbers that are on the leads now and they dont seem to be on there this is what i got, the highlighted bit on the right was the set of leads i got

My dad went to our local vw dealer for me to get some spark plugs for my 1994 Coilpack VR, i gave him all the details about my car but he came home yesterday with a set for the dizzy engine or so i thought. The set had 6 spark plug leads and a HT lead so i assumed they were for the dizzy engine. I told him what i thought and he went back today and the bloke said these were the only leads on there system for the corrado vr6 Is that right? are the spark plug leads the same on the dizzy and coilpack engine? They look totally different to the ones i have on there now and the tool for fitting/removing them dosen't even fit. If they are the right ones what should i do about fitting them? picture of them side by side, old on the left/new on the right any info would be great, not sure if the bloke in the dealer is trying to palm us off as they were ordered in especially for me

Thnaks for the ideas, what number is the fuel retardation relay?
-
I've had 4 in mine, with 17's and lowered about 40mm all round. I cant be exactly sure how much its lowered as i brought the car like it but i had no scrubbing at all
-
Well i had a TPFT policy on a Polo for 10months(accelerator policy earns my now claims quicker :D) which cost £350, 6 weeks into the policy i changed it over to my Vr and they wanted another 320 for the remaining 8months and 2 weeks, but i am tempted to phone up and change it to fully comp but i'm not sure how much they would even give me for my car if i did write it off
-
Not if he has any No claims bonus, I'm 20 soon to be 21 with 3 years no claims and the insurance on my Vr is pretty acceptable considering the car, still not saying its cheap lol but its not soo bad that it makes you want to kill youself
-
What do you mean by "set your mix off"?
-
Still have this problem, changed the blue temp sensor today no different Was going to change spark plugs but havn't got the ht lead removal tool so got to buy that first. Has anyone got any ideas? Car runs and idles fine so i assume that the coilpack and ISV are ok. How does the corrado vr6 change the mixture for start up? is there an extra injector or anything like that?
