Its a breather hose, you will need to put a junilee clip on that to stop it from happening again. The smell i expect is oil that came out of said breather hose and got on the exhaust manifold nothing to worry about and it will go away soon enough once its all burnt off. The water under the battery is fine so long as its not battery acid coming out of the battery, they collect water there. With out trying to be condescending, if you own a Corrado it might be worth reading up a little about the mechanics of them as they like to break and you don't seem to not know a great deal about an engine. The VDO is actually called an ISV (idle stabilisation valve) for a start. Everyboy has to start somewhere though and this forum is an excellent way to learn.

Are there any definative "how to" guides on fixing sunroofs and knachored spoilers? ié the achilles heel of the corrado. I would pay a tenner for that alone as on here there are just 100s of scattered threads where there is no final answer for either (as far as i can find) and i just gave up after and hour.

The full spec is as follows- Gwerks charger and chip 68mm pulley RSR outlet Red top injectors Scorpion exhaust + decat The problem is that its started to miss fire, down on power and white smoke out the exhaust and one of the plugs is gettig very wet so im changing the head gasket and want a head rebuild at the same time as its on 130k and dont think it has been done. This car has to do over 2k miles back from my parents house in North London to Barcelona so i want it to be perfect before i set off. I dont want to get half way through france and for it to go bang so i want to do everything i can to it. While im doing the head if a port and polish is a good idea then i'll do it but this isnt the be all and end all. I also think i will have the injectors professionaly cleaned as they apparently werent new when they went in. If any bodyhas any other recommendation as to stuf that she be done whilst it all apart im all ears!

ok excellent, i will get myself a port and polish then why not! Just need to find a spare head now in good condition. There is one eBay but the cam looks rusty so think it may have been stored out side so not much cop, How much for a descent second hand head then? £40-£50 or is that too little? Thanks for all the info by the way everyone its really appreciated :salute:

Will it effect the emissions hugely? not that im a tree hugger at all but the car is coming back to Spain and they are right arse about that sort of stuff.
-
The chip was done by a previous , in fact im yet to take delivery of the car, but i know i needs a head gasket so whilst im doing that i think its better to have it recond. WOuld Gwerks keep a record of the particular map it had do you think?
-
Im a member of the ClubGTI forum and just checked it out but its more expensive at 250 + VAT, all be it that it includes a port and a port and a polish. I only want a standard head rebuild nothing fancy as i cant afford the further expense of farting around having it remapped again (which was done by GWERKS originally) So Gwerks then?
-
Thanks for the replies guys. I dont know much about Gwerks as the last G60 i had was 6 years ago and i always used Jabba Sport for that one. Is it worth doing the valve springs as well or not bother?
-
Hello chaps, Any body had any experience of them? looking to get my head reconditioned ( the standard refresh package £250 ) Can you recommend this or is it a bit pricey? Have changed head gaskets plenty of times but never rebuilt a head with guides, seals reground the valves etc. Thanks James

Ok guys, to cut a long story short im in the process of buying a Rado G60 in the Uk to bring back to Barcelona (where i live) I had a G60 almost identical to the one im buying 5 years ago and never stopped missing it when i sold it. Found a Left hand drive car with a great spec but it has a suspected head gasket failiure as it´s down on power with a misfire and plenty of white smoke when idling and one of the plugs is getting very wet. What i need to know is this- as i dont live in the uk and will be flying back to fix it would i be best picking up a second hand head on eBay and geting it skimmed/refurbed etc by some one like G Werks and then whipping the old head off the car to save on time and banging the freshly refurbed head on, this is to save time as i obviously cant wait around in the uk as will be flying back sporadicly and work will be done to the car on weekends when i can fly back. The car has red top injectors, decat and scorpion system, gwerks rebuilt charger and smaller pulley and chip. How much should i pay for a second hand head off of eBay? Is the 250 quid fee for refurbing at GWerks a descent price? as its seems a little high to me as it doesnt include valve springs or anything other than valve guides, seals and refacing. what would you guys recommend about the above?

It´s possible it will fit but i doubt it as the corrado hand brake isnt round its slim though you might be able to get a sleave for it. I fitted the exact momo hand brake on a mates chavd up FTO and it looked pants on that so id go for a new original one if your has worn out

You need to first remove the hand brake handle, underneath it is a little tab that you need to hold away before it will release. I found a small flat head screwdriver rammed in there helped as they can be a bit of a stubborn fatherless child to pull off.

Hey chaps, I was wondering if anyone could be so kind ,who has a copy of ETKA, to have a look at headlamps for me i need to find out if its just the head lamp glass that is different between LHD and RHD (EARLY TYPE). Could some have a quick look for me as ive already looked on the ETKA link here and i cant speak Russian or perhaps im just dim! Many thanks
-
I had a look at his post and it said they had gone unless that isnt the case?
-
Thanks alot for this, ive jus found 4 pages of headlights woohoo! looks like i wont be paying a rediculous prive for them after all, the most expesive ones are £70! Thanks for all your help and replies gentlemen.
-
If anyone knows the name of this company it would be most appreciated. What about Golf Rallyes?- they must of all had LHD spec lights as most of the ones here are imported, how did the owners of these get around changing thier lights?
-
Ok excellent, thanks very much will PM tempest after i fifish work.
-
Ok will speak to the local stealers and see if they can get some. Do you know what head light is in German by any chance?
-
So do you think i could just get some of those horrible In pro lights that are left hand drive and pop the glasses off them and use them then?
-
Hey thanks John but I have already spoken to him and for £300 i think they are too much, ive found a brand new sinlge head light for £80 but i want a pair.
-
Ok guys, probably not been asked before but is there any way to convert a set of right hand drive to left hand drive, the reason i ask is that i will be bringing a G60 over to Barcelona where i live and obviously need to change the head light aim so i can get it thorugh an ITV test here (equivalent to MOT). I have looked into buying them in LHD form but they go for rediculous prices, some as much as £500 and that's just :bad-words: I'd rather let someone smash my fingers with a hammer than fork out that much for them. Does anybody know if this has been done before or know if a way to do it exsists, is it the actual glass that effects the beam direction or the internals. Thanks

Thanks for the reply, i have looked at cars in Germany and they are very expensive there as well. I guess ill just have to keep searching! -
Hello gents, havent been on here for nearly 3 or 4 years since emigrating to spain and selling my corrado. Well now im back and i want another one but the problm is they are non exsistent or rediculously expensive so im looking at importing one from the uk in LHD. To do so i need to make sure on the chassis plate it has the european approval number as i will struggle to get it in the country legaly. If you've got a corrado preferably pre 1994 could you have a quick butchers at the chassis plate for me and let me know if it has the european apporval number on it, it shoudl start with a little e followed by a number then an asterix so it should look like - e123*123456 or something oh and anyone know what happend to my old G60- J919OJO, is it still alive? Thanks James
-
Cheers Kevhaywire- i think im going to take it to them to have it on the rollers and just make sure its ok, i think you might be right about them being a little aggressive with the fueling as the fuel consumption is shocking! - i get about 200mikles out of a tank but having said that i usually give it a good beating once a day! (the car that is!)
