  1. Guys, My freind and i were having a bit of a play on our local A road- he was following behind me in his MR2 turbo and as i hit about 5.5k in third and went to change i heard a big pop. Later when we pulled up he said wow! Your car spat out fire from the exhaust which was obviously the pop i had heard. As much as you lot might think this cool (i do!) im a little worried as i i thik the car must of been seriously over fueling and letting petrol drip trough to the exhaust causing it to ignite like this Anyone else had this before or know what the problem could be??? Could it be a faulty lamba sensor causing it to overfuel? should i have the car remapped as it was chipped over 4 years ago??? Its not down on power and still pulls like train... The car has a Stage 4chrager + Amd chip + decat + custom exhaust and is on a strict diet of only optimax.... Any ideas chaps? Darren - you ever had this?
  2. Do they ever give you the right part ? I always have to go back and tell them they have given me the wrong bit! :x Sometimes i think about just going in there and asking them to give me anything they like! and i'll come back an hour later after my car is in bits on my drive and get the right part! :D They are almost useless!!!
  3. Nice one Supercharged i'll get it done as soon as i can!
  4. Forgot to metion to there is also fluid on the to of the box.... Help!!!!
  5. Guys, I have the exact same problem as well + sometimes it is a nightmare trying to get it out of reverse ( sometimes i almost have to use two hands on the "stick" :x ) + when its cold half way through a gearchange it feels sort of loose and then suddenly stiff and i have to have completely at a stand still to get it into first - it's been like this for as long as i have had it- i replaced the brocken golf circip under the centre console- does mine sound like i have the slave cylinder problem to?? I spoke to GSF today and they qouted me £37.50 for a new slave cylinder does this sound right? and they said the part was the same ofr right across the Corrado engine range???? is this correct ??? I have also noticed that on the linkage on top of the box the C shaped bit that has got a bolt going through it has got alot of play in it but VW cant help me as they orderd what they though the part was and gave me something that was totaly different :x ANy onw no what the part no is im talking about it think it a s rubber/plastic bush about 6cm long that goes round the bolt??? Please help as i really dont like driving the car at them moment which is a shame.....

    vr midrange?

The VR6 Mid range is pretty cr*p as the engine is pretty lazy and needs to be driven very hard to get the power out of it- this is one of the reasons why i got rid of mr VR6 and bought a G60 after id driven a freinds. An induction kit will sound awesome on the VR6 but will add b*gger all bhp really and after a week you would of got used to it. The VR6 responds well to being chipped, you ideally want to get an oil cooler at the same time as they run a fair bit hotter with a chip and you dont want to cook it! You can supercharge the VR6 but this is quite costly - approx £3-£4k, you could turbo it but this way costs a huge amount of money as you need serious engine internals mods- £5k+. Was your G60 standard? As that would have been much easier to tune and has huge amounts of mid range torque...
  7. 124C is to high mate unless your abosoloutly caining the cr*p ou to if- doesnt sound like they have done the head gasket properly.
  8. Fair do's mate as it sounds like you live in Harlem! Bonus getting all that stuff free to. Maybe a machine gun tower wouldnt go a miss either and some ferocious dogs to that you havnt fed for a week :D
  9. That's quite exstreme Henny! Are you sure you need all that stuff for some valve cap protection! Im an old fashioned base ball bat man my self
  10. On a G60 make sure the chargers been serviced and youve got a recept for it.
  11. Very sensitive subject on which one to go for! You'll have alot of people tell you that one of the models is better than the other one... There both good but for different reason, ive had both variants of them and would say that i prefer the G60 that i have over the VR6 i did have- the VR6 was more exspensive to run there were always nigggly little problems with things like the idle etc and the head gasket went on me as well + had to change the coil pack ignition module because they cracked. In gear acceleration is no where near as good as the G60 (chipped and pulleyd) - you have to cane the nuts of the VR6 as the engine is quite lazy but having said that it is very good once youve wound it up. I did like the silky smooth VR6 power dilivery and it makes a lovely noise but just thought it was to much hassle and to much cog stirring. The G60 pulls like a train from about 2k so never really need to change down unless your really going for it  but first and second gear ratios are cr*p and you cant hit 60 in second which is very annoying, handling wise the G60 is slightly better as is lighter and not as front end heavy- people will tell you that because the VR6 is heavier on the nose the camber and suspension settings were adjusted accordingly which is true but its still not as good round the twisty's i know as ive had both 8) . There both great motors mate - i would say go and test drive both and see which one you prefer. Personally id buy a well looked after G60 as i dont regret at all changing it from my old VR6 + it saved me money and i prefer it! But go check them both out first! Just my 2p
  12. On the exspansion tank- two pin plug.....
  13. yeah to run it in properly i would give it at least 4k to run it in and an oil change at 2k and keep an eye on the oil level as new/rebuilt engines burn oil to start with until every thing beds... and dont take it above 4000rpm James
  14. Depends what sort of a rebuild your talking about but anything with new pistons/rings etc would need double that to run in properly with an an oil change after about the first 2 thosand miles...
  15. Dont get me started on Cliffords! ...I had a the old concept 50X about 2 years ago fitted by a proffesional installer. the brainhad to be changed twice- he did an excellent job of fitting the alarm but i will never have another clifford again- it was useless- my car had to go back to the installer several times- It used to go off in the middle of the night all the time (usually about 3 in the morning  ) ive tried loads of different makes but clifford was by far the worst i ever had Cobra and Toad being the best. My freind has a clifford 300 on his 3 series BMW and he's also having problem with that- the remote keeps loosing it's code and it keeps giving off false alarms and he's had the proximity sensor turned down.
  16. Instead of doing that i reckon a 12lb sledge over the bonnett and wings and bumper a couple of times would would get the same sort of look your after and way less time consuming- or perhaps driving the front of the car in to a wall at low speeds maybe?
  17. My typing is awful!
  18. Its the bel that sliping then if its sqeaking- very simple to fix- but a new auxillay belt and that should sort out the dodgy juddering feeling- if your not able to do this your self then get a mate or a garage to do it- shouldnt take more than 10 minutes to do....
  19. Sounds llike more likley to be one of the pwer steering pipes is leaking which is causing the patch on the floor underneath- one of mine is leaking near the join on one of the nuts. Havent got round to doing it yet as i exspect the a power steering pip is going to be fricking exspensivo! Not to sure about the juddering- does it sqeak or make any noise when its juddering with the window down?
  20. i looked on the Geman e-bay acople of months ago and there were some on there for the equivelent of £620 im not sure what the winning bid was though...
  21. Are you serious? I though much more than that as people sell just the electirc seat bases for that.....
  22. I only live about 5 miles from work so mileage doesnt go up much on my wagon (90k) 8) - currently rebuilding a Mk1 Cab that will help take down the mileage when its done. Thinking about putting the G60 lump in the cab and doing a 20vt conversion  .
  23. Yeah i know that car - i work in St.Albans for the enemy(FORD... spit) were abouts are you from then dude? Im From Harpenden mate- little town next to St.Albans...
  24. Im from Harpenden- Just next to St.Albans- id be up for a meet when it stop p*ssing down with rain....
