Right then. KW seem to have the best price/performance reputation here. However, even the V1s are a little outside my range. Does anyone have any experience of the KW suspension kit (non-coilovers): http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/category_results.mhtml?category=kwsuspensionkits&car=vwcorrado&manufacturer=kw&sub_category=1 Pretty much the drop I'm after and a shade under £400. Thoughts?

Head spinning, so...many...choices...!

Hi Guys, Got a VR6 running totally stock suspension, and standard wheels. Looking to take it down 35-40mm all round, but not looking for an uber-firm ride, just something to enhance the handling whilst not giving passengers chronic back problems. Haven't got an unlimited budget, about £500 absolute tops, but am able to do the fitting myself. Basically after some advice as to what I should be looking for in terms of shocks and springs (or even whether coilovers are the way to go). Anyone got any recommendations? P.S. Thinking of fitiing and Eibach ARB kit too, if that has any bearing on results.

Cheers mate. Sounds like my weekend is sorted!

Just recently my rear spoiler has started to be a little problematic. It still goes up at 60mph, but never the full way up. The last bit has to be done on the switch. It also returns down at around 10mph, but never the full way. The last bit again has to be done on the switch. When putting the spoiler up and down using the switch it only does a bit at a time. You'll be holding the switch and the spoiler stops moving for a couple of seconds then starts moving again. Any suggestions? Am I looking at a strip down, clean and grease? If so, is there a guide anywhere with photos?

As the title says really. Looking for a good battery for my VR6 and where to purchase from. The dealers want the wrong side of £100, which unfortunately isn't going to happen! Tried searching but the search function brings up a load of posts which mention "battery", but none are about this particular topic. Thanks in advance guys.

I find patting dry with a couple of good quality waffle weave microfibre towles far better than any chamois (and I'ver owned loads).

Agreed on the Collinite. Often overlooked as it's not as expensive as other waxes, or in as flashy packaging, but the stuff is properly durable. If oyu do use it, make sure to follow the instructions to the letter, as it can be a PITA to remove if you don't.

I haven't used Rain-X, but there is an alternative in the market made by Carlack. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/engine-amp-exterior/carlack-glass-sealing-kit/prod_348.html It's called the Glass Sealing Kit, and is basically two bottles, one a cleaner, the other a sealer. A mate of mine who uses Rain-X couldn't believe the results I get from using it. At £12.95 though it is a bit more expensive (that said it lasts for ages).

I've been snow-foaming for a while now. I use the Bilt Hamber Auto Foam (they do a great car shampoo called Auto Wash), through a foam lance on my Lavor pressure washer. I find it great as a pre-wash, removing the worst of the dirt before you start with your shampooing (I use a lambswool mitt, Bilt Hamber Auto Wash and the 'industry standard' 2 bucket method). This means there is less chance of you causing swirls when you shampoo, as the worst of the grit & dirt will have been removed. The best piece of advice I can give re: foaming is to ensure you get the correct dilution levels. If you don't do this then the foam won't work to its maximum capabilities (this goes for mixes which are too strong or too weak). As all pressure washers, foam lances and snow foams are different, there is not one setting that can guarantee the corect dilution. There is however a fairly time-consuming way of guaranteeing you get it spot on (if you want me to explain, then let me know). Once you've achieved this then the results are great. Oh, and its brilliant fun covering your car in loads and loads of foam...

Just thinking, you wouldn't happen to know the part number would you. The guy on my local parts desk is an akward pedant...

Cheers mate. Love the Bungle picture by the way!

Hi all, Was just wondering where I could get hold of a set of VW centre caps to fit the Solitudes on my Storm. From what I can gather some Storms had VW centre caps, some had BBS ones, but I prefer the VW ones (and although both came as standard, to me the VW ones make it look more standard, if that makes any sense). Do the dealers still stock them (or would they give me a puzzled look as they often seem to when you mention a Corrado) or is it an Ebay job? Cheers

Thought this may be some use to people. I was looking for a guide for stereo wiring (i.e. what colour is what wire), and my mate e-mailed me the following link: http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/VW-Wiring.pdf Hope it is of some use.

Hi all, I'm new to Corrados so bear with me! I've noticed places selling brake pads with and without pad wear indicators for Corrados. I drive a Storm, and I need to replace my pads. Do I need them with or without the indicator? I know if I take the wheels off I could find out, but I was looking to find out without doing that so I could just order the pads now, and fit them when the weather improves. Sorry if this is a stupid question...

Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a list of what the various wires going into the ISO connectors are (I've got a Storm). I've always had mk2 Golfs in the past and I'm guessing VW changed their wiring colours (very handy!) because I don't recognise some of the colours used. Any help much appreciated Rob

There are some fights you shouldn't even try and pick... Thinking about it, do you reckno the lads in the Civiv knew what it was when they first thought about trying to pass it?

Cheers guys, Fully intend to get my haggling hat on! As you say, in the current climate people are happy to be getting vehicles off their books. With regards things to look out for, what are typical niggles with the VR6, I've read about timing chains, so obviously evidence that they've been sorted on time is a must. Anything else (other than general car stuff)? Rob

Thanks for your reply. I expected it to be towards the top end of the price range, but it is lovely, and I'm more than willing to pay the right price for the right car, but don't want to be mugged off! With any luck it could be mine by the weekend... Also, I must admit, having been a member of many VW forums down the years, that that was one of the friendliest replies to a newbie I've ever had!

Ok then, Being a Corrado (but not VW) newbie, I'm after a bit of advice. I'm currently looking for my first Corrado, and I'm looking for a VR6. Now in order to make it sound more appealing to the other half (who can't really understand why I want to change my Mk2 Golf Gti) I'm looking at a Storm under the "its limited edition and will hold its value better" argument (I'm not too fussed whether that's true or not, but if it facilitates my purchase, I don't care!). Now I've seen a car from a specialist, it's a Storm in Green, fully documented VW history, immaculate (really, I thought my Golf was good, this is a step up from that) and completely standard (which I'm after) but it is on for £4.7k. Which I think seems like a lot, given that I see VR6s go in the classifieds for a lot less. I was after a bit of advice really. Does the fact it is a Storm (and therefore has leather, etc.), fully documented from new, in A1 condition, and from a well thought of specialist, justify the price? Its also worth noting that, a) they will take my Golf as part-ex and b). I'm not massively mechanically minded (therefore don't really want to have to do much work following purchase). I also fully intend to keep up the service history at a local specialist. Sorry if I've rattled on a bit, I pretty much type the way I talk! Rob
