I can vouge for Skodas, i recently bought a Octavia vRS and the car hasn't put a foot wrong yet in the time i have had it, i have been very impressed with it, it dosn't have the same character as a Corrado, but its a strong realiable car, as for the dealers anytime i have gone in and inquired about anything they have been very friendly and always willing to help, still think VW should be in the top 10 at least though, but these surveys are utter bulls#@t though

Why did i sell my VR :( :(
-
i thought it could be the heater matrix jon but the carpets are bone dry so i have really no idea where the hell its going :(
-
ok so i changed the kneck pipe at the top of the radiator at the weekend and i also checked the two water pumps for any leaks i couldnt spot any leaks but the car is still looseing in coolant, anyone got any ideas as to what could be causeing this?
-
I ill do that, are they prone to leaking at the waterpumps mate?
-
Forgot to say the car dosn't put any white smoke out the tailpipe att all, i replaced the thermostat houseing less than a year ago so i don't think it will be leaking there, took the car for a long drive tonight came back and had a wee check under the oil cap and dipstick and there was no mayo, gauge sat at a constant 95c oil was about 100-104c throughout.

I have tryed using the search option through older posts but i can't find a clear answer to what my problem is Right i have been driveing the car more regularly now but i have noticed that the car is useing a little coolant as i am frequently topping it up every 500miles. I have checked for mayo under the oil cap and dipstick as i thought it could be the head gasket but nothing the car is not overheating either the gauge sits about 95c all the time. There are no visible leaks either. Anyone know where the coolant could be going? leaky matrix? Advice appreciated Paul

Temp gauge rises when cold - Gauge/cluster working fine
PaulMoVR6 replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
This happened to me but my gauge would shoot of the top of the scale, i eventually fixed it by changeing my dials and also replaceing new temp sender with the older yellow one instead of the newer black one which was already in the car. -
Yeah mate the pump unscrewes from the bottom of the tank its quite fiddely trying to pull it through the hole in the boot but its fairly straight forward.

how do i go about fixing it so i have stage 1 working mate? rad switch? well my gauge was misbeheaving it was shooting up off the scale when the car was started even if it had been sat for a few days, so i got another set of dials this is my thrid and also swaped my newer black temp sender to a older yellow one this now shows about 92c while cruiseing, but just a bit paranoid about it riseing while in traffic, Paul
