  1. 2.0 16v with standard ecu ,24 mpg local and 30 mpg max on a run Same car with chipped ecu ,26 mpg local and 32 mpg on a run (145 bhp) Audi A4 1.9tdi avant remapped to 160 bhp 47 mpg local and 60 mpg on a run Audi A3 2.0 tdi sport remapped to 180 bhp 45 mpg local and 58 mpg on a run. Scary bit is both the Audis are much faster than the corrado off the mark and engine wise much nicer to drive. Looks and handling the Corrado aces them, my retirement project is going to be either a skoda fabia vrs or polo 130 tdi engine conversion into the corrado, add a remap, larger intercooler and upgraded turbo 190 bhp plus should be possible
  2. I ignore the mfa on my cars and go by filling the car to the brim each , noting down the mileage and working it out from there , in my case the better mpg is real and NOt imaginary
  3. 1995 Corrado 2.0 16v I have two ECU's, one standard and the other that has been chipped to 150 bhp, neither ever gives more than 30 mpg at a constant speed . 2003 Audi A4 1.9 tdi 130 with tuning box 47 mpg around the doors and 58 mpg on a run. 1997 Audi A4 1.9 tdi 110 with tuning box 45 mpg 1990 Scirocco GT2 35 mpg 1997 Seat Ibiza 2.0 8v GTI 40 mpg in all conditions My old Scirocco Scala injection never got less than 36 mpg around the doors and 45 mpg on a run
  4. Try http://www.tuning-diesels.com or their sister company www. energytuning.co.uk, I've got boxes on both my 1.9 A4 's, the wifes PD(130) engined avant averages 48 mpg around the doors and over 58 on a motorway run and now drives better than my mates (170), my older 1997 A4 avant (110) gives about 3 to 4 mpg better and goes like stink (not bad for 175,000 on the clock ).

    clocks

I would assume they will be different as the later clocks have a digital odometer (electonic speedo) and have a single block connector fitting on the rear, the early ones have a mechanical odometer and i would assume a mechanical speedo (with a cable)
  6. Great I've now found them I'll try changing them first. As for the MOT if the light ABS light comes on and stays on its a failure. if it doesn't illuminate the car will pass whether the ABS works or not .
  7. Help, the abs on my 1994 2.0l 16v corrado has been non functioning since I got the car 5 years ago . The system is fully bled and the abc ecu has been checked and appears to show no sign of water ingress. The abs pump doesn't activate when the ignition is on and there is no power to the abs light on the dash. The problem is that I cannot find any of the abs fuses or relays , according to all of the wiring diagrams I 've found for the 1994 models the relays should be as follows: position 15 abs pump relay position 16 main abs relay position 21 abs pump fuse position 22 abs valve fuse. All of the other relays shown on the diagram are correct BUT my car has no second relay panel above the main fuse box. the only extra relay clipped on in position 14 above the main box is for the cooling fan. Where are the abs relays located on a right hand drive car? I've recently upgraded to G60 front brakes and Mk 3 rear calipers with all new vbrake lines but with the abs non functioning the pedal is still poor (infact its worse than any of the old scirocco's I've had in the past). I haven't previously been bothered but as my other car and all our works vehicles have power assisted brakes it's a nightmare jumping into the corrado and it having such crap feeling brakes. I'm assuming this is due to the abs pump/accumulator not powering up.
  8. I have run TOYO T1R's on a load of cars and they are an excellent tyre (I have 215/40 zr16 on a set of 7.5 rims on my corrado at the moment. My A4 and my wifes A4 both were bought s/hand with Falken tyres on hers were Ze 912 and were 235/45 zr17 , they were cr*p, poor grip and very high wear rate , try down to 1.6mm after 7000 miles on the rear of a front wheel drive. The 205/55 vr16 on my A4 are poor in the wet and dry and only look like they will last for 6500 miles.

    2L 16V Oil Leak

The metal gasket that goes between the filter housing and the block has a rubber bead on it which breaks down and allows oil to leak
  10. Ta for the reply, can you confirm are the calipers different between the 16v and the g60 or is it just the caliper carriers ?
  11. Help, I'm getting very confused as how to carry out a 280mm front brake upgrade on my 1994 2.0 16v corrado running on 16 inch wheels. I want to upgrade the front brakes to G60 spec retaining the 4 stud hubs, I realise that the discs (either standard or upgraded ) are easily obtained being the same as Ibiza 2.0 16v models and that the pads are the same as the VR6 models. It's which front calipers to use that has me confused. From what I can make out the LUCAS calipers on the G60 models are the the same as those on the Corrado VR6, the golf MK3 GTI's and VR6 models BUT which front caliper carriers will I need to fit them. Looking at the 5 stud and 4 stud discs the offsets appear to be different so I am asuming that the caliper carriers are different. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  12. Just for info the caliper pins are only available from VW as part of the carrier assembly at £140 plus for each rear carrier BUT the carriers are the same on the AudI A4 (B5) models and Audi very nicely sell the pins separately for an awful lot less.
  13. Problem solved. I managed to pick up a full set of matching late model seats locally for £100. They have a couple of cigarette burns on the bases but he bolsters , foams etc are all good. I've spoken to a local trimmer who can use the cetres from my own seats and make a good pair fairly cheaply. plus I will have a full set of spare bases should i decide later on to fit alternative or aftermarkety seats. Just got to fit the front eibach springs, bilstein shocks and polybushed wishbones and the refurbished 16" OZ Volcano wheels with TOYO 215/40 tyres and she will be ready fro the summer. That said I've been using it in the snow recently and on its 15" rims its a damn sight safer than either of the A4 Audis I've got.
  14. I have a 1995 2.0 16v Corrado which has the later 'jacquard' type black interior fitted. The front seats are now starting to wear quite badly with the bolsters collapsing and the material fraying. I have a set of immaculate front seats from a scirocco which have the same mounts but they will not fit due to the position of the reclining knob on the inside of the seat low down on the backrest pivot position, this fouls the transmission tunnel on the corrado. Looking at a number of vw seats they all seem to be of a similar design whereas the corrado has the adjuster half way up the side of the seat. Just an observation but he earlier VAG upholstery seems much better quality and longer lasting . The question is does anyone know of any other vw/audi seats that will physically fit, ( I am not worried about changing or adapting the runner mechanisms). Or alternatively has anyone experience of fitting aftermarket front seats such as Corbeau, Cobra, OMP, Sparco or Carrelli , which ones physically fit the car and what are their quality like ?
