  1. "Look for somewhere you have never been 150+ miles away and make a day of it :)" Ha ha yeah, hence the road trip round Europe idea, should be fun, just hope the old dear doesn't break down!
  2. thanks for the posts, butterfly - yes your theory is probably correct, I used the Rado for the daily commute to work, no motorway miles, lots of traffic lights and standing still in traffic. I'll try your suggestion as well Andy thanks all

    MPG - awful

Not sure if this is in the right section (apologies if not) This morning I was flicking throught the display options on the ECU, and I was surpirsed to see that I am averaging 18mpg!! :cuckoo: Had a look at the stats for my model (2.0L 16V) and I'm told it should be around 30mpg. Now I know it's an old car (1994) but surely the MPG should be better Anyone have any ideas as to why this might be? I am planning a road trip aroudn Europe in July, but don't fancy having to stop at every petrol station I pass due to such poor fuel economy

    Slammed on 17s?

Pretty sure mine are 7.5" (17") Not sure of drop, but it's pretty low
  5. Cheers! I ordered them yesterday, but they are out of stock so going to have to wait a couple of weeks for them to arrive. I was considering the black centred onces as well, but felt in the end the silver just looked better. Can you put some wax / polish on the dish so that the grime just wipes away? Can't wait for them to arrive! :)
  6. Right, was just about to order these alloys, and after reading the spec on the website I wasn't convinced that these rims weigh as little as 4.9KG. So I've googled them and they actually weigh 8.2KG. Bit annoyed that rimstyle lead you to believe that they weigh less than what they do :nono: Borabob, I know you have these rims on, have you noticed any difference in handling or performance? And is 8.2kg for a wheel actually that heavy or is that considered light?

    Bonnet

Advice needed (again!) My bonnet needs a respray (my rado is green). Just been to a garage who says it will cost £240!!! :mad2: However, there is a green bonnet for sale on fleabay, i believe it has come from a 1995 VR6. Mine is a 1994 16V. My question is, will this bonnet fit my rado, it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than the respray cheers all
  11. http://classicsagogo.co.uk/acatalog/Engine_Paint.html Let me know if the link doesn't work.
  12. GOLD! how funny! I have just pained mine gold, I got some gold engine/caliper paint off the net for cheap, the calipers only needed one coat too! If you want the link to where I bought it from let me know. In fact, I have 3/4 tin left over, where you live? You can have for free :D
  13. awesome gti in Manchester are VERY reputable, they have done practically every modification to my TT. I wouldn't trust my motor anywhere else, they genuinely care about your car, treat it like one of their own, and will aim to provide you with a courtesy car when possible.
  14. I'll be honest, the ride is a bit tougher since the lowering, but I can live with it. Re the comment about putting a little girl in the back........maybe if you put her in a comfortable baby bucket seat she might not notice EVERY single bump in the road  Yeah I noticed the price had gone up! Bit rude really, perhaps I should get a discount from them due to the advertising I / we are doing (borabob) Bob, have you done anything else since the last thread on these wheels? Managed to get the spacers on at the back, the nuts had to be shortened though
  15. I know the Lupo wiper conversion thread has been covered, so apologies for bringing this up again. I can't seem to find anywhere that sells the wipers, I have the part codes (from this site) has anyone bought these recently? and where from ta
  16. Yes sorry, I meant adjustable coilovers, sorry was just being lazy when I wrote springs  LOL about the comment re the jack! It did look high didn't it! You could have fit a bus in the gap. If anyone wants to pick up the same springs, they are here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-COILOVER-VW-C ... m153.l1262 (copy and past in to internet browser) These guys delivered real quick, and the garage said they are decent quality, still not sure of their brand, I don't even think they are a brand, but they are pretty cheap in comparison to most stuff, and you can tweak the ride height from 20mm to 90mm. Re- the comment about the rims - yeah they look Ok, but the ones I want are: Just not gotten round to buying them yet.
  17. Just need to get the new rims purchased, then possibly a paint job and leather interior :norty:
  18. the rado is slammed, finally got rid of the tractor ride height, I'll take some snaps of before and after and try to post them
  19. ok great, must be top mounts then (just googled what they do) found some on ebay, you need them front and back.........correct?
  20. Hi All, Just had my adjustable springs delivered, when I mentioned to the garage (that are going to fit them), they suggested it would also be worth buying something else, I'm sure they said bushes, but I can't honestly remember. If anyone knows if that's right can you let me know, it will save me a trip over there ta
  21. managed to remove the nuts, used a 17mm socket in the end as suggested, cheers all
  22. ok, i'll try a socket, many thanks for the resonses
  23. Not sure if this is any help, I've managed to post a picture of one of the nuts
  24. Tried to post some photos but they are too large, they are aftermarket wheels not fitted by me
  25. I've never known it so difficult to remove a wheel on a car, got a puncture last weekend and need to change the front wheel. The wheel nut wrench that comes with the car doesn't fit the nuts, so i bought a wrench from halfords which has 4 ends which are 17mm, 19mm, 21mm and 23mm. None of them fit the whee nuts either. Anyone help?
