  1. Thanks Hasan. Stumbled across them on gumtree and thought they looked great but wasnt sure if they'd work as a look on the C. After seeing pics of a C from the US with them on it helped confirm they'd work. Really like them since they've been refurbed. A local company PPS did a top job on them @ 45 squid a corner thought was good value too.
  2. Here's some photos of my C taken the other day during a spout of good weather. I bought this back in August last year down in Edinburgh. I'd been to see an Audi S2 which was more local and what I'd originally planned to go for. However, gut feeling decided against it and instead went to see this. As soon as I test drove it I knew I had to buy it -loved it. Two owners last was a lady owner who rarely used it so below average mileage of 95K. So drove it back up to Banchory and it's been in the garage ever since! There were a few issues that came to light on the way back up mainly the terrible rear shocks and a CV clicking noise. Since last year I've changed the driveshaft on the near side and replaced all the shocks and springs, top mounts etc. with a weitec kit, it now sits approx. 40mm lower and new drop links have been added. Yet to test the ride but hopefully shortly! Also on the list of things to do were the brakes so front discs and pads replaced and rear pads changed (rear discs were good). The suitcase muffler and centre resonator were badly corroded all now changed with stainless steel and supersprint suitcase muffler (original back box in good condition so I retained this to keep it OE). Grey leather to replace the cloth seats and refurbed TT speed lines with 205/45 tyres (picked up for a bargain) have temporarily replaced the original speed lines which are in dire need of a refurb! Changed oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter last week. Just centre caps for the alloys and alignment then she's ready to go. The front bumper has a view scratches however, this is on the list of things to do. Hope you like pics.
  3. Changed camber settings on front wheels today pain in the derriere as I cocked up the first time. All is now good and perfect both sides less touring car more road car. Now looking forward to getting those refurbed 16" TT alloys on. Car still garaged until winter fully buggers off!
  4. Pair of 288mm brakes callipers and carriers straight from a 96" Golf VR6. Includes callipers, carriers and hoses with banjo type fitting. Good condition. £50 + carriage.
  5. I have a front set of Genuine VW front shocks and springs, low mileage £40 posted?
  6. Thanks for the info Obe-wan. Jetex don't seem to advertise that size on their website however, I found merlinmotorsport.com stock Jetex sizes of 2.25". Perhaps discontinued? FYI price is £17.62 inc VAT. ---------- Post added at 12:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:47 PM ---------- Following last message just ordered over the phone and can confirm that they have that size in stock.
  7. Needing a new section between CAT and centre box. Found a 2.25" stainless steel 1m section with slotted end. Measured the old pipe at 650mm so I'd need to cut which is ok. I'm 95% sure the diameter is 2.25" but hoping someone can confirm for def before I go ahead and make the purchase! Cheers P
  8. Thanks preferably looking for a new unit however, if nothing comes about ill pm you.
  9. C in need of a driveshaft on near side (passenger side). If anyone able to help find me or have one they want to sell would be much appreciated. I've been on J&R cv joints web and although they offer a 2 yr warranty £75 seems way too cheap! As they say cheap, quick and good but you never get all three!!
  10. Disconnected the ABS sensor and it's still much the same - although the wheel did move more freely. The passenger side wheel rotated much slower than the drivers side. On closer inspection I can here a juddering/knocking noise every few seconds from inside the engine bay near the driveshaft. Inner CV joint perhaps? I took a clip of the sound if that would help identify it.
  11. I'm pretty sure it was below 15mph on the clocks. The drivers side wheel rotated fine it was just the passenger side that struggled. Would that still (potentially) rull out a binding problem or can the TC come on on just one wheel? I'll repeat it without the ABS to see what happens.
  12. Thanks again for your help. Here is a couple of photos of the engine bay and the smokin' part from earlier! It looks like the part you described. I notice DG Autotech can refurbish them for £50 or so. 288mm brake conversion is next on the cards. Excuse the crap photoshop. Aint much of an artist!
  13. Yeah I think it could be that. I'll take a photo just to check. 288mm brake sounds like a good idea. Could you confirm the parts I need? Cheers Ewan
  14. Tried the axle stand experiment today and I think I've solved it however, If you of think I'm overlooking anything please let me know. After putting the C on axle stands I (unfortunately was on my own) put the car through 1st-4th. Immediately after putting into 3rd I could hear the problem. With the car in gear I walked round to see what the story was. The left (passenger side) wheel was not moving freely at all compared with the right side. It would move more in 3rd or 4th but there was alot of grinding coming from the left side. Took the wheels off and did the same. Left brake disc appears to be binding so much that in fact the brake master cylinder was smoking (from the electrical part attached to to it?) when in 4th gear. So do I change discs and pads (look pretty shot) or should I do calipers as well?
  15. Yeah thought it might be a wheel bearing. It's interesting to hear you had similar symptoms so I guess it's likely it could be a bearing. I also thought it might be the brake discs that are warped or need replaced however I've not been getting any particular problems with feel through the brake pedal. I guess it will just be a process of elimination!! Winter is fast approaching (it's very bad up this road) so I won't be able to sort it out until next spring. I'm off on a road trip next May so fingers crossed it's not terminal!! :)
  16. I took the old girl (C VR6) on a quick run today to see how she was doing. Frustratingly I can hear a ticking/clcking noise coming from ( what I believe is) the front wheels when travelling straight or round corners. :( !!! It starts at about 40mph then gets faster as the speed increases to about 60-70mph then after that I cant hear anything - probably the road noise masking the sound. I don't think its the CV joint as there is no tell tail signs like noise when turning wheels at stand still or below 40mph. What I would say is the noise gets slightly louder when I turn left and slighlty quiter when I turn right. Any ideas folks??
