  1. AVS Car parts or Dubpower I've used before both been really good. AVS tends to be more on the value end of things. http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_gaskets.php
  2. An old friend of mine got head gasket replaced and new timing chains and tensioners/clutch for £1250 about 2-3 years ago. 24 hours labour is a joke! 6-7 hours by a competent mechanic is more like it. My local mechanic could prob do it for £400-£500 based on labour of £25+VAT an hour he's an ex VW/Audi specialist. Aberdeens probably it bit far though!
  3. The bits arrived the other day relieved to say all were INA. Tappets and new cams are in and started this morning with great success!
  4. After a long anxious couple of weeks of installing the SP263 cams and replacing the noisy tappets (with the proper INA jobbies - long story involving an awful experience with ECP) today was the day of turning the key in the hope it would start and not chew a valve. Im pleased to say all is well and now sounding much smoother and less tappety tappety!! Next in line is the ECU remap.
  5. Yeah thats the slight worry I have. From Eurocarparts 3 were INA, 5 were pattern and 4 were completely the wrong size. The parts were sent in an old plastic bag. Clearly pick n mixed!! Unfortunatley two tappets are spongy. Thought best to just replace all of them for piece of mind. I'll try lear-industries if this fails which Im hoping not!!
  6. Thanks for the heads up. Went with GSF just before you posted. INA £100 with discount and next day delivery. Cheers for the help folks. If this goes t*ts up I'll try someone else. Ebay link doesn't seem to work tho.
  7. cheers dude but need new ones for the schimmel cams. I'm gonna try (he said anxiously) GSF they seem to have INA in stock according to the bloke I spoke to today.
  8. 12 new tappets if possible. Probably a long shot but thought Id try just had a dreadful experience with eurocarparts Ive just about given up! Sent the wrong parts twice and drove into collect from courier! Joke! I might try someone else but not sure who I can trust. Id prefer to put my faith to some decent chap on here!
  9. Guides and chains look good, no scoring on pads and no slack (I believe they were changed in the past). Think Ive sorted it. Borrowed another pair of eyes to help out. Not going ahead any further until positive it is spot on.
  10. Any ideas folks. Have read a few similar threads on here and vwvortex however, not been able to find any conclusive anwsers. Please help!! Haha!
  11. I was doing the timing today, for the cam swap, and its been, i'll be honest, a total pain in the t*ts! Intially I did the two rotations of the crank pulley to the mark on the engine cover. Made sure the cam lobes were the right way up i.e large bit on the bottom. I could get the cam align tool in but there was a slight step up and they were def not horizontal. After numerous attempts I decided to rotate the crank pulley a fraction further (prob a cm off the mark). The cam align tool now slides in perfectly and is equally horizontal over both cams. So do I stick with the slightly off crank pulley mark and well aligned cams or the opposite. NB made sure to check Piston 1 (nearest the drivers side) was at the top. I used a plastic rod and marked it up against the engine when at top. For both scenarios the piston was at the top. Any advice would be immensely helpful. Cheers
  12. Im looking for some advice on the above. Before I purchase a set of pulleys and trigger wheel from an odb1 dizzy cq Cap VR6. Can someone advise if these will work in a coilpack VR? Cheers folks. ---------- Post added at 9:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 8:32 AM ---------- Found some info. Looks like the anwser is nope!!
  13. If you find a pair spot on! Drop me a pm or whatever. ---------- Post added at 5:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:15 PM ---------- Ok. Cheers!
  14. Looking for a pair of VR6 cam sprockets, bolts and cam trigger wheel either in new or good used condition. Cheers

  17. Looking out for a drivers right hand side seat bolster to replace the current as its beginning to sag. Not had much luck so far hope someone can help!
  18. Haha yeah the DBP fraternity is out in force. Hopefully one day my car will look as shiny as your storm! Going to be using it through spring/summer. The north east weather/salty roads in winter would not have been kind to near 20yr old bodywork! Starting to loose the plot now though, it's been 6 months since I last drove it I need to get it out on the road soon for my own sanity!!
  19. Nice motor mate really like the colour and the stance on the K1's
  20. Cheers for the comments guys much appreciated. Glad to be part of the DBP brotherhood!
