After one week of owning my storm the 18 year old daughter of one of my neighbours opened her door and hit my door, it was that hard i heard it from my back garden at which point i looked out and saw the guy walk off. I checked it out and then followed to his house at which point he asked straight away if there was any damage..!!! the damage was very bad but didnt break the paint so i agreed for him to arrange a dent guy he knew to try and remove it.. The dent has been 90% removed but would need the whole side of the car painting to be as it was... i didnt want to go down that route so agreed compensation of more dents removed from my golf and money towards wheel refurb.. Just when i have managed to forget about that and try not to look at my door as much my next door neighbour has just called round and said her mother was a tad drunk and opened her door and done it again..!!! its not caused a dent but marked the paint work..!!! Now what do i do..!!!! i park my cars inches away from each other so as to avoid this...

The centres didn`t need painting and the backs were autosmart silver king wheel spray..( it was cheap) ..!!

Work gone crazy busy so not had alot of time to work on the cars, managed to start cleaning the inner arches and have ordered the paint to be mixed so just to freshen the arches a bit. Cleaned around the exhaust and will remove the tank straps and paint them up. Underneath the car is really solid and very clean. Wheels have been a right pain in the arse to be honest..!!! couldn`t get the final finish as i`d wanted so went back to the internet and read up a little more and went to 280/500/800/1200/1500/2000 wet and dry and the finish is 90% there.A professional could defo get it better but i`ve learnt another skill and saved money so have to be happy with that. before and after;
-
With the refurb compounds and mops i bought i used 300 grit to flat the backs down then degreased the surface, undercoated then painted then laquered. Its not perfect but looks 90% there and should see the wheels good for another year or so..

Managed to do some more work today, machine polished the car to remove some more minor swirling and then sealed afterwards and painted the rear of the wheels.Really happy with the finish especially as its silver out of the can and from the pound shop..!!! wheel refurb will cost me £65 plus elbow grease..finished with some laquer. minor swirls on the paint work; Using autosmart evo and silverline polisher; Even managed to solder my parcel shelf rubber together; How they both stand now, mk2 has been cleaned and prep`d as well..!! Rest of wheels split tonight and done over the weekend..!

I get up at 4.45 each morning and spend couple of hours before they all get up..!!! hope to finish wheels this weekend..! thanks for the feedback it keeps me going. 8)

Well started with the 150 again and then onto the 300, think i need to go back to the 300 to refine certain areas but decided to move to the sisal mop and 3 stage polishing. I`d say there 90% there and only minor finishing to do but happy overall with the turn around on the worse wheel. Maybe for sale if i can secure some rs301`s... apply within..lol

Well decided against the powder coating as the tolerence on putting the centre back in is very tight.. bought a polishing kit from frost and have used the 80 grit and 150 grit compound so far.. Have acid stripped the wheel before hand. So next will be the 300 grit then the 3 stage polishing.

Split one of the wheels, not sure if the corrosion will polish out or to powder coat them...?

chill winston  ............. not moaning just starting a discussion about the corrado and gauging opinions... 8) think its agreed that the corrado is an all round car but lends itself to more of a gt car.. there not bad but i`m sure everyone would agree that if they would of come with 225 from factory it would of been a different matter... 8) few more shows this year and i`ll start to get use to it...
-
Its not all about the performance but feel its just getting into the style of driving the corrado, like everyone has said with the vr you have wind it up to get it going and the mk2 is totally opposite. In an ideal world i`ll keep both and have the mk2 as a track car and the corrado a long term keeper...lol.. gareth will be laughing now knowing i always change my mind and am very impulsive..lmfao.. Wouldn`t own anything else other than vw, nothing else has the character or charm..
-
4.5k for that sort of performance on the corrado..
-
I know it feels a different beast, just drove the corrado this morning and it cruises at 30 in 4th around town superb and feels very solid... Im just used to the mk2 with the instant power, suppose i just need to get into the more refined drive..

Had my storm for a couple of weeks now and done a fair bit to it, but not loving it to drive..? It drives very straight and runs bang on but feels so slow..? What am i missing..?!! my other car is a mk2 20v and obviously the difference is night and day... Even considering selling it which is daft because its a very good corrado.. Advice/opinions

Were you the guy who put a deposit down...? Nope not me. I saw it, said I wanted to think about it (I'd only just started looking) and then a week or so later agreed to come back and buy it. But my situation changed at work and I had to put it on hold. By the time my work situation was known, it had sold. Can't complain though :) But no, I hadn't put a deposit down. It's a lovely car. My only concern was the slightly higher mileage but it seems to have been very well maintained and the bodywork was fantastic. The leather was slightly tired but you've brought it back to life wonderfully. If my job situation occurred a week either side then I'd have had this car sitting on my drive by now. Or, even with the job situation, now I've had a chance to see a few more and realise how good that one was I'd have risked it and bought it. No firmly on the lookout for the right car again. But this one has made me fussy (probably a little too fussy!). In a way the mileage didn`t concern me when i saw the fsh and the amount of work that had been done. The winner for me was the fact he`d owned it for so long and obvioulsy loved and cherised it. The price was far too tempting as well and so now have to sell my mk2 20v to make way for the new one..!! I could break it and prob make a good profit..!!! but i wont i`ll keep tidying and improving and go from there.. Someone did go and place a depsoit but had to drop out, there loss my gain..!

Well finished the seats and fitted them in this week, early 5am starts all week to get ready to drive to standford hall..!! Still need to go round and detail and finish the seats, clean bits of over spray ect but am happy with the result which is not perfect but in a way its better that way as it matches the age and condition of the rest of the seats.. One of my neighbours put a sizeable dent in my drivers door so that has been rolled out and to be fair is 95% perfect but have had compensation for the rest and the messing about..!! 8) Fitted the coilovers on friday and sat and set the ride height to 610mm floor to arch on the rear and 600 at the front, will see how it settles and feels and maybe tweek 10 mm. The drive to standford hall was fine and the car runs really well.

Wait for the arse marks in those front seats...lol sorry mate couldn`t resist...jealously is an awful thing..!!!! :gag: Superb gareth, perfect corrado... roll on sunday..!!
