  1. Fla,

I only know this because I've been digging in the crates this morning. This should hold your answer:

    http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?17287-The-Forced-Induction-VR6-thread&p=503309&viewfull=1#post503309

EIP put 1000hp through a standard R32 O2M drivetrain (plus a clutch obviously) and it took it. For how long though, I don't know.

Considering the grip of 4WD, that's seriously impressive for factory parts.

Back in the day, they also put 500whp through a FWD VRT with the Gemini kit and that took it also, although FWD + road tyres + 500whp = spin city and therefore not so much strain on the transmission (until it regains grip that is!).

Having spoken to a few big power VRT folk, it seems the bottom line is the stock O2A box is OK with 350whp so long as your sensible and don't put it on the strip. 400whp is the outer limit and you're on borrowed time. It will generally only last 3 to 4 pulls on the strip at that level!

I know it's torque that breaks the gears etc, but it's just easier to say whp....but assume torque to be equal to the power, if not higher, as is often the case with turbo engines....although you can size the turbo, cams and timing etc to get it boosting higher up the revs.

I'm sure i've attached this before, but this particular 02A gearbox has seen plenty of strip action in an internationally renowned car

It finally gave up the ghost on the strip with 800whp going through it, but you'll notice the SQS gearset wasn't phased by it all.....rather the casing flexed and shattered instead

It laid down 800whp quite a few times prior, but at that level you just don't know when it will go twang.

The 02M casing is a lot more rigid and far less likley to do that, but who among us is going to be running 800whp on the public roads with 20" wide slicks?

  2. Has anyone here blanked off their oil cooler when fitting a mocal? I don't _really_ want to but the kit I've been supplied does this. Therefore I have two options:

    1. Use a piece of pipe to link the crack pipe back to the block. I'm thinking this

    https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/samco-8mm-135-degree-blue-hose-elbow-e135-8

    2. Get an extended bolt for the cap

With 1, if you have the knowledge, would a 135deg bridge the two neatly?

With 2, if you have the knowledge, have a link to the part you have or bought?

I would much rather do option 2 but I can be convinced otherwise!

  3. Stripped the front-end, replaced all the coolant hoses with Samcos.

Treated the rad support, it wasn't in terrible condition but a layer or two of hammerite will help it

Also dug out my ambitious next step but am nervous about strapping it on and blowing up the engine given it's done 150k after 3000rpm.

There's a metal prong welded on (you can see on far-right). I'm unsure what this is for, it doesn't seem to fit anywhere on first glance.

  4. Just don't post on facebook…….

Support this forum by being a donator.

I support this forum, but the volume is not here. Onboarding to the forum is a lot harder than using a facebook page.

How do I upload an image to the forum? Oh, I can't.

The fact it no longer works with Tapatalk is awful. It's halved my usage of the forum.

  5. Does it need one? - I've seen these fitted and then covered as they're potentially over cooling the oil... in road applications of course.

I'm supercharging the old darling, so I want to be on the safe side given I haven't got a spacer head-gasket in

  6. It's a Mocal kit and you're covered by ebay's buyer protection, so can't see any issues. The only problem with these kits is whether the hoses are the right length for where you are going to locate it. Sometimes it's better to mount it all up, then get the hoses made up at a local place once you know the exact lengths, they're nothing overly special so any decent hydraulic/pipe shop will be able to sort you out :)

    That's all I needed, thanks!

  7. Lovely sunny day yesterday so decided to take the Storm out for a drive around the Sussex villages. Was parked up having a coffee in Forest Row, chap pulled up in a current Range Rover. As he got out I could see him looking at the VR. He then came up and asked how old it was etc, so I refreshed his memory. He only departed as his family began to look miffed waiting for him to go into the restaurant. As he walked away his parting shot was lovely to see one in such good condition.

I was walking around Balcombe on Sunday, sad I didn't get to see your car!

  8. Has anyone managed to rip out an entire audio harness?

My stereo has never worked and no matter where I try to test for voltage I get nothing, so planning on ripping it all out.

Also if anyone has, where have you purchased from?

    Thanks!

  9. Hi there, I snapped a bolt out of this spacer the other day so need to source another, before i go about failing to drill it out!

I need number 33 on this picture. A place to buy number 32 would be a great bonus to!o.
