I'm down the road in sunny Northwold if you ever dare to venture south of Downham!

Red Rado spotted Friday night on the A14 by my girlfriend whilst she was at speed in my flash red valver.

Red valver in Warrington this morning A49. Spoiler up 8)

In my experience there are noticeable gains to be had by removing the snorkel and drilling the air box but only in conjunction with other top end work (eg. manifolds, port matching cam/s.) As stated previously induction noise is increased by the air box modification, so if induction roar when the throttle is mashed is your thing it's worth considering. I've removed mine on my Rado daily for this very reason 8)

I'd be reaching for the hacksaw/dremel too if it was me.

The shell looks straight so it would make a decent GTI Championship base car.

Just fitted a Scorpion Cat back system with a JabbaSport decat pipe on my 9a valver and I have to say I'm impressed. Nice and quite, exhaust note becomes audible when you are up the revs, couldn't want any more A1 perfect.

Is your Rado back on the road?

You can run without helper springs. They are rated typically at 4lb or 8lb and are designed to be coilbound when the spring/damper unit is loaded eg when the wheel is on the deck. There sole purpose in life is to keep the spring seated when the wheel is unloaded which shouldn't occur under normal conditions if you've got your platforms wound up as far as described.

Have a look on Volksmania Pauls photobucket pages, there are a few shots of Jabba's VAG trophy Rado in action from Mallory. http://s198.photobucket.com/albums/aa24%20...%20%20misses/

I've had the same happen whilst pulling away on a green flag lap before in the golf. In my own unique style I've put a couple of cable ties round it now as a secondary fixing. Works a treat (touch wood). -

I had a play with a similar looking plug behind the fuse board the other week and it appeared to turn the lights on when the ignition was switched on just like a Volvo/Saab arrangement

This site lists most makes/types of wheel. http://www.wheelweights.net/

Yep I understand it now thanks for that :)

I didn't think the chip controlled the RPM limit, I thought it was determined by a crystal on the board. Can anyone clarify?

I completely agree that MK2's/3's and Corrado's do handle better with some rake in the chassis but in my experience I've never noticed any significant difference with a raked/un-raked car on the road. I've never been in the position to consider raising the ride height of a road car for a journey on un-familiar roads, but with large diameter rims I can see the benefits of it. In my experience corner weighting does have a quantifiable effect on any vehicle with either a solid/live axle. I've built and setup both and would be very happy to go through my findings with anyone but via PM or over the telephone rather in public (Mr Carvell are you out there??? ).

Thanks Doug, I'll give that a go.
