  1. Well http://www.thinkauto.com/ didn't have one so it looks like it's either get one made, get an older cap or leave the exchanger off - humpth :mad2:
  2. I was just going to post that I have found the answer to my own question but you beaten me too it. The kit I have bought utilises a mocal end cap and sandwich plate and as such requires the use of a long extension tube when used with the original heat exchanger. It would appear that the one I have is the wrong one so I'm trying to source one from http://www.thinkauto.com/. I might get this oil cooler fitted before winter gets here :)
  3. Gents, Does anyone know if the internal diameters of the OE heat exhangers varies? The reason I am asking is due to attempting to fit an extenal oil cooler on my VR6 today only to find out that the oil extension tube I have bought to use with the Mocal thermostatic plate and replacement metal cap is too wide for the exchanger although the length is fine. The place I purchased this from said that this should fit on the original pressed steel exchangers but not the cast Ally ones normally supplied by other manufactorers. Now I have checked a new one, the one on the car and even the one on the 16v and they all look the same to me although none of them have VAG part numbers that I can see. The extensions supplied by DG and C2 look like they are for a different cap so and they have me thinking that the wide part of those should be fitting through the sandwich plate. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.
  4. I have found rear beam bushes to be a pig to get off and install on previous cars so my VR was given Poly bushes which are damn easy to install in comparison. www.awesome-gti.co.uk are doing them for £40 the pair at the moment. I managed to snap the head off the front non sump covered wishbone bolt due to corrosion welding the threads together. In hindsight if I had taken the time to coat the bugger in plus gas/ wd40 a few times prior to starting the job it ma not have happened. Remember that you will need to jack up engine and or drop the subframe to get at the bolt behind the sump.
  5. I have seen the same blackberry / purple rado on Porsche rims twice in ashford high street today.
  6. Sat behind a blue valver ( I think) L232 c** on the M25 @ 8 am this morning. Debadged rear and colour coded handles looked smart. Sat in wifes car so didn't wave

  11. I did read a couple of posts on other forums which put me of using them, which was a pain as they are on my doorstep. Eventually went with Lepsons http://www.lepsons.com who did a cracking job on my BBS RX. Be intested to see the results if you do go to BJV.

  14. Chaps, Quick question, are the lock levers (plastic bit) that the door button and central locking rods connect to obselete ? Part numbers I think are 357837084/083. My drivers door one is completely knackered and it's been fixed once already. cheers

  17. Sounds daft but try having the clutch down when starting it. The odds on having two duff starters are slim, do you have a volt/ampmeter you can use to check out what it is receiving frm the battery?
  18. Got busy and fixed the annoying ABS light on the VR by slotting in a new near side front sensor. I was going to do the otherside but working on the if it ain't broke don't fix it I moved onto the the 16v and checked that the VR's old calipers did indeed fit with the G60 discs that arrived on friday. next job is to cleanup the calipers and the front suspension arms - wheres that can of satin black

  21. Are you refering to trade plates? I believe that they only have to make them visable somewhere on the car but you may be right and they should be attached ????
