Reminds me of a similar occasion in my land rover. I was parked up waiting in a parking space when Mrs Chav screeches to a halt and opens her door slaming it into the side of my land rover. I swear she almost smiled at me as she did it. However the smile soon faded as she realised she had slammed her door into a 2" steel tree protection bar on the sill of my land rover, putting a lovely crease in the edge of her door and only leaving me with the paint from her car to show for it :). She then had the cheek to have a go at ME. Perhaps i could fabricate something similar for corrados, not sure if the off road style has been done on a corrado before? Seriously though mate i'm gutted for you but i doubt theres much you can do to be honest. Report it to the police but the hassle will be more than its worth to try and chase them for damages i would think. Thats why i always park over two spaces, and why if anyone says owt i give them an exact verbal description of why i have done so. Good luck, hope its not too bad.

Hi mate, used to see you sometimes on the way to work. Sorry to hear about you car getting torched, bastards. I have actually stripped a lot of the interior out of mine as i am using it as a track car this year so i have lots of plastic bits inside that i'm getting rid of. Drop me a line if you're in need of something as pretty much most of the plastic are being taken out bar the front seats, dials and a little of the dash and headlining and pillar trims as they are knackered where some idiot replaced the screen without taking them off and cut them up. Cheers Jez

Take it off, save weight and go faster :)

If its just a core plug then might not be too bad depending if you can do the work yourself. Depends if its been run and allowed to over heat as then you will be into serious problems. Have you bought it yet?

Reaching the limits of my patience (and wallet)

Better the devil you know if you ask me. Most rados are of the age now where rust will be a concern and if a car was really rust free why would anyone break it. Rust is the killer, welding and fabrication/spraying costs a fortune unless you do it yourself. Mechanicals are fairly cheap and easy in comparison. I can't see how forking out to reshell a car is going to save money, just enjoy what you've got and drive it. At least you don't need to worry too much about car park dings and wether its going to get scratched  -
I'm looking for a blanking plate for the radio slot in my rado. Stripped out all radio etc and would like to mount some gauges in the space, anyone got a plate to fit? Cheaper the better. Cheers

Isn't the seatbelt recoil bit just held on with the usual bolt? Would have thought any aftermarket seat belt would fit no?? Try securon, i would not say they are necessarily vw corrado specific in design, but i'm only guessing.

One word......Credit. The credit crunch has not come yet. Fixed rates, and borrowing still running on. Interest free only mortgages and idiots remortgaging. Only the other day a guy in the pub bought a new car (audi tt), i asked him if he'd got a pay rise. No he said, his house had increased in value so they remortgaged and took the money. He does not relate the fact that hes just borrowed another 30k for 25yrs and the car hes bought. He thinks hes got money for free! I scrimp and save everything from a pound a month on a utility bill to recycling water to save on the bill. My mates think i'm stupid but i just want to pay off my mortgage asap as the interest is stupid. The interest on my mortgage is the same as what i borrow over 25yrs, if i can pay that off sooner i can save upto 120k over 25yrs. You can buy a lot of stuff for that!!

Where i live a 20mile commute is the norm. Fine if you live in a town or city then bike or get the bus etc but if you live in the countryside and the bus service is rubbish then theres no alternative unless you are a farmer or like working in the local spar. Lets face it its going to cost more to drive cars. Oil is finite and as the supplies get less guess what the price will go up even more. If you think its expensive now wait and see how much it is in 5yrs time. The reason taxes are going up is due to the last government behaving like a teenager with a credit card and buying what they liked, then realising that oh sh*t wehave to pay it back! What really makes me angry is when people blame banks for getting them personally in debt. Just another example of how no one takes responsibility for their own actions. So you had to buy the leather sofa from dfs on 4 years interest free rather than make do with the one you had. Oh and the 28" plamsa you had was not as good as the 42"lcd that you got on interest free credit from currys. What her next door got a new car so you fancy a new loan to buy an ex demo new vw. Please....its greed that got people into this mess. Sorry to have to say but theres some things you actually have to save your hard earned money up for. Not everyone can have what they want when they want it, and if you do want credit that you can't afford to pay back, don't moan when you've got no money for the yearly holiday abroad! Whoops sorry that turned into a bit of a rant.

There was a bike to work scheme where you could get your employer to give you a loan to buy a bike and they stop a certain a mount from your wages each month but before tax so you save the % you would have paid tax and NI. My mate got a lovely Scott full sus bike, spent £1500 on it  Lovely bike but i'd want a motor on it for that money. And he got really seriously into biking, however theres one thing a man should not wear and that's spandex cycling shorts! Unfortunately the image of my mate in his is one that will scar me for life :pukeright:

I would make sure you can get a good spark. Have you removed the coil pack? If its sparking a bit then maybe the ecu is okay? Does it spark a bit on all leads or just one or two? If you can borrow/buy a set of them spark plug testers that light up. I had to use two in a line to see them whilst turning the key but you can definitely see if its sparking or not then. You need to start at the beginning and work through everything. I.e Check ecu is gettig power, check camshaft sensor not knackered, check power to camshaft sensor, check power to coil pack, check trigger to coil pack, check output from coil pack to plugs. When my coil failed it did instantly. car died. About twenty people told me it would not be the coil, i like you suspected the alarm and pulled out all the fusebox and wiring etc and had a real headache. Then i went back to basics and started checking everything from scratch with a multimeter. Theres loads on this forum about what voltages should be found where and various sensor resistances. Dont just start replacing stuff as it will get expensive and second hand stuff is not guarenteed to work anyway. You need to find the problem by isolating the options. My bet would be coil pack or camshaft sensor. or wiring thereabouts. Let me know how you get on and if you fix it. cheers

Sorry i'm not familar with the coil pack version. Not sure how it triggers but i do recall they have problems with cracks. Unsure about the injectors, i had problems trying to work out if mine were okay and i think i gave up in the end as i had a headache trying to work out wether they should be live and when etc. I am not sure what you are saying but i would guess the immobiliser is deactivated with the central locking? Someone told me once they either work or not and rarely intermitently. You say you sometimes get a spark then nothing. This is your problem, or one of them. Like i say i'm not familiar with the coilpack but would say you need to check what ever triggers the coilpack to fire and the coilpack itself. Not sure if it uses a camshaft sensor to judge the right position to fire or not? Make sure all leads are in good order and spark plugs are clean and gapped properly. I did have running problems for a while but resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery for around ten minutes and then reconnecting will reset the ecu, Especially important if things like maf and tps have been unplugged. Oh i assume you have checked all connections and plugs. I would concentrate on one area at a time i.e check for spark, and sort that then fuel, air etc... An engine needs fuel, air and a spark to run sensors like maf and tps will make it run like poo but generally it will run roughly. good luck,
