1. I wish I had the cash to get mine completely resprayed but it would then be heart breaking when the first scratch, scuff, dent, bird crap appeared. Can't wait for the high res pics of the finished article.
2. DG are definitely worth the trip for peace of mind. Genuine enthusiast(s) that want to do the right thing for you and your car. They have looked after me really well and I am 140 miles away from them! They disgnosed a few issues straight off before even plugging in the VAGCOM.
3. I think passengers are discounted as witnesses.
4. So the best bet is to get a Classified ad on here. Click on Classifieds on the menu bar then Post Classified on the menu bar below. I'm sure a Mod will be along soon to confirm if this is right or if there is a minimum number of posts or time on the forum before you can advertise.
5. I suspect if you want to get rid quickly it's best to place adverts in as many places as possible to maximise visibility - I bought my first C off eBay in a drunken moment and only discovered this site later on (when I bought my second!) It's free to advertise on here and most discerning buyers will be on here but they will really know their stuff and will drive a hard bargain. Supply does appear to be outstripping demand at the moment but a good car at the right price will sell. Good luck,
6. I had the same issue when I needed my gearbox rebuilding. Didn't do it myself but got the garag to do it while everything was exposed. I think the golf mk4 tensioner parts are an option and considered better than the originals.
7. This is the sort of review Claudia Winkelmann should deliver on Film 2011 (still miss Barry "and why not?" Norman, but then I am old). Literally made me laugh out loud in the office, but that's fine because I am the boss!
8. I have not tested it - no multi meter (hangs head in shame). I did however take the aerial connector that plugs into the radio apart and strip back the shielding plastic to expose more of the core, then re-attached it all and hey presto - much better FM and even a usable MW recption for 5 Live. Still not perfect but looks like the radio end was at least as much to blame.
9. http://www.dgautotech.com/dgauto/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&category_id=25&product_id=53&Itemid=98 is the link to these in the DG Online shop but it's down for maintenance right now.
10. Tried a new aeriel base and that had no effect. Took the radio out to see if there were any loose connections and now there most definitely IS - the radio no longer switches on. I have clearly dislodged something but can't see what. Grrrrrr :bonk: More time today and I have been able to expose the problem - Two original looking connector blocks joined to a newer looking harness with a BIG block then lots of wires plugging into the smaller 17 pin block that goes in the back of the radio. Loose from this was the main power connection but also the fuse in a cut out fuse box had also blown. replaced the 5 amp fuse with a 10 amp (all I had spare) and the radio works again  although the reception is still poor and no existent in the MW but at least I have something. Think I'll leave it alone now . . . .
11. Curses - took the radio out this morning and there are a few interesting cables lurking behind it. Someone has clearly had to connect the original wires into some intermediate connectors so now there are loads of wires of different colours eventually going onto a block that goes into the radio. There is a stray red with a white stripe wire . . . . and when I plug the radio back in there is a whirring noise (indicating some sort of power getting to the unit and doing something with the CD ?) but the radio doesn't power on. At the end of the day all I want is great radio reception across FM, LW (for cricket on Radio 4) and MW for 5 Live. I'm tempted to go to Halfords and get them to fit me a DAB head unit! They have some for £99.99
12. I'll have a look at the weekend - I think you might have the answer!
13. Thanks chaps - with a bit of trial and error it was easy to access the aerial base by dropping the rear bit of the headlining. However, despite getting the correct base with the correct connectors I still do not get decent reception (or any MW reception at all) so must be something else wrong!
14. Glad you got them working in the end!
15. Mine is a 1993 L reg VR6 - not sure if that is early or late or a bit of both. I think there are all sorts of variations on small parts like this. I should have checked first I guess. Anyway the eBay salesman has agreed to give me a full refund once I have bought the right one and fitted it so it should all be ok in the end.
16. Yes this doesn't fit This one looks more like what I have on the car - a bigger coax type connector plus the second cable connection (power supply?)
17. Looks like I need one of these instead - 4rse ! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Beetle-Golf-Passat-Polo-Roof-Aerial-Antenna-Base-3-/360322452672?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53e4e44cc0
18. The connectors look different. See pic. I tried to get them to fit but the old aeriel connector looks fatter (bigger girth) than the new one. Any ideas before I try to get a refund from the Ebay chap?
19. Cheers - Off to eBay I go. My radio reception is poor on FM and totally non-existent on MW!
20. Do you need to totally remove the headlining to replace the aeriel base?
21. Another trip to see Graham at DG Autotech today. A couple of minor niggles sorted out and then an MOT. Thanks again for all the help and top notch attention to detail and customer satisfaction Graham.
22. Loved the Jag racing across England - within the speed limits? Hmmm But get John Prescott off the screen!
23. I solved one major rattle by removing the spare bulbs that were rolling around inside the spare wheel and another by removing the stack of CDs from the glove box. Another annoyance was the groaning from the steering column. Adjust it down a little and the groan disappeared! I love my VR6 and wish I had bought one sooner!
