  1. The right R32 turned out to be a mk5 on a 56 plate with full VW service history, new tyres, parking sensors, heated leather in Deep Blue Pearlescent. An approved used VW so a little peace of mind. Can't wait for the Mrs to pick it up so I can "make sure everything is ok with it".
  2. Bigger brakes, especially if you turbo it!
  3. Take it to DG Autotech (Kidderminster so not too far from you) as these guys are Corrado enthusiasts and will give a very honest appraisal of what is needed on your car. They also do an excellent headlight loom that doesn't even need any wires cutting to fit it.
  4. Some of the original options have been rejected, wrong colour, new clutch being fitted, it's already been sold etc But today the Mrs signed the paperwork for a 56 plate, 40k FVWSH including haldex just done, new tyres all round, parking sensors, heated leather seats . . . . can't wait until we erm I mean she can pick it up!
  5. That's scarey - but yes the history will be looked at carefully. Chains - yikes, the very mention of the word makes my wallet cringe  At least I know where to bring it for servicing and a remap Dave :norty:
  6. I would like to say that this car would be a keeper but in the last 20 years she has had about 15 cars. I'm not sure what you would move to from an R32 though. The idea of a bit of remaining manufacturers warranty is attractive. Decisions, decisions!
  7. Thanks people - I suspect it will go down to colour. The blue or black being preferred to the battle ship grey. Which is a shame as there is a very clean DSG model in grey.
  8. Thoughts please people. The Mrs has seen the light and is part exchanging the 3 series convertible against an R32  . Looks like my Jedi mind tricks have started to work. There are a fair few about including 57 plate with 70k 58 plate with 48k 56 plate with 30k Similar spec, FVWSH, condition about the same, prices fairly close too and not an issue.
  9. All red on a red car looks good to me - not much help for you grey car thoughlights.jpg[/attachment:abp7soxo]
  10. Love the way "cat d" is tucked in with the list of good points about the car.
  11. Took the door handle off to replace the bit that breaks that means you can't open it.
  12. Did some test driving today - A4 convertible quattro and R32 Golf. Not exactly like for like comparison but the Mrs wanted to try a four wheel drive soft top . . . . R32 - WOW what a fantastic car! Now on the search for the right R32!
  13. M25 anti clockwise between J13 and J12. Me in my L reg FILTHY Red VR6 with wife and daughter, in the outside lane. You in a less than clean green or blue C with the window down, shades on and waving!
  14. went for a quick drive to test road conditions and reckon the OSR brake is still partly on. sprayed de-icer on the caliper and then went out again, going over some speed bumps at 30 odd and "clunk". Seemed to have fully released now. Not using handbrake any more!
  15. Watched a few of the Top Gear Challenge shows on Dave yesterday afternoon - love the 4x4 in Bolivia!
  16. I should add that on Wednesday I was at DG Towers to have DGR+ camshafts fitted. IMAG0037.jpg[/attachment:3htqqjft] Also had my cracked exhaust down pipe replaced and a couple of new gaskets popped in while we had the rocker cover off. Engine definitely had a load more power everywhere although I have no stats to prove it but when Dave took us for a test drive the horizon was approaching extremely rapidly. Had no chance to drive it since other than the 140 mile trip home but that proved fun - bowling along in fifth, need to over take something, just push the loud pedal a little and off you go, another 20 mph added very fast! Sadly car is now under 6 inches of snow again and FILTHY! Unlikely to see any use or cleaning this side of new year now. New year will probably see MK4 rear calipers and maybe a new exhaust although the original is still in pretty decent nick.
  17. Got a call from the Mrs half an hour ago. She's driving the VR in the snow and called to say smoke coming from back wheel. I quick diagnosed handbrake stuck on (thanks to this thread) and told her to get it safely off the road. Ten mins later she's on the phone saying an AA van was passing and he got under the car had hit it with a hammer and she is sorted. So thanks to the AA!
  18. Thanks, that is an interesting comparison. Loving the R32 idea if it prevents my VR being the snowmobile!
  19. Got mine today. More torque and power everywhere. No graphs to prove it. Don't know the numbers before. Don't know the numbers after. But it GOES SO WELL NOW! Thanks DG!
  20. Thanks for the update, I am pencilled in to have mine fitted on Wednesday 15th December. Can't wait!
  21. I have the DG cams ordered and am due to get them fitted soon - weather permitting. I'll update you all with figures, feelings etc when it's done.
  22. My new friends on the BMWLand forum have now confirmed this IS the case.
