Sorted :D The terminals were tight, but the two smaller screws were sparking (must have rattled looser?) All cleaned with electrical spay then wire brushed, now its sorted :D Cheers

hi i posted a thread about a week ago about my car dying for no reason ... i took it to a auto electrician he said the electrics in the ignition were pretty knackerd so he replaced it . but now its started agein :(... it happend this mornin on the dual carriage way i was going about 70mph wen it just cut out all power (ie lights , engine EVERYTHING) its almost like someone disconnecting the battery or removing the key . the engine dose not splutter or give any warning that its going to die .. and i have checked the batttery to see if the terminals are loose . im just scared because its kinda dangerous as i cant use my hazards or any thing !!! has anyone had this problem its doing my head in as ive just started a new job and i cant start having days off due to my car help pls :( bexs xx

ive been ajusting it with the white little nobs at the back is this what u mean just put them back in and it seems to be working :(

Ok, this is what they look like inside atm... What and how do I need to adjust them to Re-calibrate them?!? The fuel one seems to be OK :S... now the water temp one sits at 100+ and wont return to base point smoothly if at all. Has your ignition key got a button? Not that mine does anything but if you crack open the key, there is a chip thingy. I wouldn't have known if someone hasn't pointed it out on here nope mine is just a key no button or anything , well the lights in the dash bord are working :) but the reason it keeps cutting out is the ignition barrel is past it :( gotta wait till wednesday to have it done but on the way home it broke down 3 times!!!! so that 100 outta pocket now but at least it is on its way to being a useable car :)

well its off to a auto electritians in a bit as i dont want to make anything worse !!!then ill come back and attemp to fix the clocks :(

I know, well I will try again tomorrow. If you tune into BBC Oxford at 6 tomorrow and see a girl singing and cackling around a flaming car... its me. And it has not gone well. yer i did it earlyer and banned anyone from coming near me and had a massive pot for all the tiny screws .. i tell you what i thought buying a corrado would stop all this hassle i got rid of my mk 1 clio 16v as it was endless problems ... seems to be just as bad *cries*

thank u for that :) ill prob bring the clocks inside and do that if u see a panicked msg you no ive f**ked it up lol as for the cutting out i have a feeling its going to be one of the million earths so prob going to play it safe and call a auto electrician :) thank u all uve been so helpfull :) bexs x

no i didnt touch anything else , i only removed the plug at the back of the clocks (luckily i have skinny hands ) and i no i put it back in correctly as the trip is working . also on my clocks there is only 1 plug /loom . its a 1995 model if this helps and it has no immobiliser also dose anyone no if i can fix the problem with with the fuel/temp needles?? as i no have no clue with temp or fuel thanks a very stressed bexs :(

I'm sorry i keep posting for info but im a noob :) right so my speedo lights have never worked since i bought my 8v , so today i thought would be the day to try my hand at fixing this problem . i looked on here at how to replace the bulbs that light up the speedo/fuel,water temp/rev counter when i removed the whole unit i tried taking off the fuel/temp cluster first.. as i very gingerly started to wiggle it off the temp and fuel needle they moved loads and then stayed in the middle so i looked on the back and saw there are 2 very small knobs that i turned and the needles went back down ... only to find when i removed the whole dial unit there was no bulb or even anywhere were a bulb should be !!! :( i then found 3 bulbs at the top of the whole unit i replaced with 509t bulbs from halfords (which looked completly different!? - they are shorter than the grrn units that were in there) but nothing still (yes i checked the dimmer switch and fuses, but what should I be looking for?, they seemed OK )..... and now the fuel and temp needles do not move at all wen i put everything back together and started the car :( and today it cut out for no reason just died no lights nothing !!!i pulled over left it for couple of mins and it started again but then later on i my bf open the passenger door and it cut out and restarted straight away .. please please help im at my wits end!! :shrug:

Hello, I have a few question I need answering RE: my 2L 8V corrado... 1 - On the on board computer, for example it will read between 90º and 100º - yet the temp gauge reads between 70º and 80º.... am I being completely blonde, are these for the same reading? or is one oil and one water? :cuckoo: 2 - On constant driving the temp gauge hovers 70-80.. is this correct? So what I'm trying to explain is in traffic it comes to 85+ then goes back down, is this correct?? 3 - the Digital gauge can go upto 102 in traffic sitting then hovers around 94.... is this correct?? If these are too high what can I do to correct the problem?? different strength/tolerance thermostat??? Again sorry I do not know the correct terminology and I am trying my best to sort my car out :D (full service soon :clap: ) Thankyou very muchly Becki xx :scratch:

right i'm looking at getting my corrado a good service and general look over , dose anybody know of a garage in oxfordshire that know there way around one, as im fed up of general grease monkeys not knowing what they are doing :( thanks

Right thanks! To be honest I tried to start it and just got fucked off with the cold, I will undo the battery and re grease the terminals + check the earth (as this was not done when I swapped it, and it looked dry!) If this does not work where else can I check? Cheers :notworthy: lil b

i need some advice or if anyone else has experianced this... i tried to start my 8v this morning as i turned the key... nothing no lights no splutter i dont even think the fule pump primed !!! i fitted a new battery (vartar) just before xmas and was driving it on a regular basis and done about 200 miles in it untill the weather turned bad ... has anyone else experianced this ?? coukld it just be the electrics not likeing the intense cold??? :( thanks bexs :(

thanks for the replys :) yes i did check the dimmer switch :) i dont have a owners manual .... so can anyone please let me know where i can find the info for correct ampage (sp?) ect thanks bexs x

i was wondering if someone could help....... ive just bought a corrado was all fine untill i tried driving it in the dark!!!! no dash lights whats so ever !!! the rear wiper dosent work and when i connected my sterio up ... nothing ive looked at my fuse's and all fine (ie the fuses ive found under the cubbie hole drivers side) am i being really dumb and missing something really simple ?? i presumed it would be on one circuit??? is there another fuse box?? help please im not keen on guessing my speed at night and in total silence :( thanks bexs xx

hi over the last few days i have noticed that at bang on 3 k in any gear there is a strange vibrating / grinding noise with has got me worried .... it only happens on 3k revs and stops as soon as you accelerate/decelerate (sp?) i have a 2.0 8v and was wondering if anyone else has experianced this at all many thanks bexs xx
