  1. Hello mate, I had this issue myself when I first brought my VR6 a few months back. First thing to do, is to open the bonnet look right at the back of the engine bay. You should see two pipes going into the tin heat shield (i think) right at the back. If not this means your heater matrix has been bi -passed which then means that your matrix needs replacing!! If the tubes are in place then the heater matrix could still be the issue. Check for any water leaks right at the front of the car underneath the centre console in the middle. If there are no leaks then turn the heater from hot to cold, there should be some be a little stiff and you should be able to hear a flap being open and closed. If not then your bowden cables might have come loose or snapped. Have a look at around the forum as there are some very good guides in the Wiki to fix both issues (or at least give you an idea). Please let me know what your investigations reveal :)
  2. Is there anything you get can to fix this without re-dying the whole thing?
  3. Hi Guys, I recently brought a leather interior from someone from this forum and it looks like the front seats and arm rest are a darker colour when compared to the rest of the interior (i have only put the back door cards and seats in so far) Is this normal? Did VW do Cream and Beige? it almost looks as if they are from two seperate interiors but the front seats appear to be geniunely from a Corrado. Can anyone help? Thanks John
  4. Hi All, I have two beige leather seats that are slightly worn and cracked in various places and one heavily worn spot. Can anyone recommend a leather repair kit or polish to repair some of the cracks etc. I used the colour restorer from http://www.leather-forever.net/ and i was pretty impressed with what it did to my jag, however, the seats were in better condition. Does anyone have any other suggestions or experiance with using this guys touch up kits?? Thanks
  5. Thats very nice. Can i ask who made it and how much it cost?
  6. Thanks for your help DanVW. This is rather embarrassing but it was testing the controls whilst the heater control unit was outside of the sent console, therefore, the cable was overstretched. When i actually fitted it properly I received my glorious hot air HURRAAHH!!! :)
  7. THanks for the tip! I changed the thermal fuse and its working a treat, however, my heater is still blowing cold air :( I have replaced the heater matrix (which was leaking and had been bi-passed) and all of the fans etc are working. Any idea's?
  8. Well its not working at all. it kind of died a slow death over 30 seconds. I have checked the blower fuse 6 and the aircon heating fuse and they both appeared fine but then again I am no expert. Any suggestions?

  10. I am looking at buying a complete leather interior for my car and will therefore have a complete grey cloth set in very good condition up for grabs. How much do they general go for and are they particularly easy to sell?
  11. Is there any guide on how to do this? I will be installing a headlight loom this weekend and I would like to keep use OEM plugs if possible.
  12. Hi Kur2y I am new to the corrado world and dealing with old cars in general. I would like to upgrade my headlights and i want to ensure that is is done properly as I would like to keep them for many years to come. Could you please provide me with the following information :) 1. Whats the advantage of 3 relay over a 2 2. What is the OEM plug people refer too 3. Can you use Xenon's with these uprated looms? Many thanks JP
  13. Sorry for being a complete corrado novice!! Is there a big difference in the door cards. Would it be difficult to change/modify the pins so that early seats would fit into a late car? Thanks!!
  14. Hi guys, Whats the difference between early and late interiors specifically the seats. I would like to change my pretty good condition cloth interior for a tanned leather interior and wondering if i should stick with late (which is the same as my car) or consider earlys as well. Thanks JP
  15. Thanks for your help guys. I started the job yesterday and it was a bit of a monster. The previous owner had completely bi passed the heater matrix to avoid taking it out!!! Whilst I was taking everything out i have noticed a few things that need fixing and could do with some advice. 1. Headlight switch. The only thing wrong with this is the one of the plastic prongs that comes from the actual switch cover has broken. Europarts was £53 quid for a replacement and it seems an awful lot of money when the actual mechanics of the switch work fine!! 2. Headlight loom. I have heard this can be upgraded. Is this an easy job? how long will it take? can the original bulbs be replace with Xenon's (i am sorry but i really like them!!) 3. Where can I buy the little fuses that fit into the glove box light? 4. is the carpet for a biege cloth interior the same as a tan leather interior. Many thanks JP
  16. Hi Guys, I just brought a Corrado VR6 that was in very good condition, however, the downside is that it has very high mileage (200k). It has an amazing service history and has just had a £1800 service to replace the clutch, flywheel, tensioner and guide rails amongst other things but i was wondering if there is anything in particular that I should look out for and if there is anything that i should check if it has been done recently. I must admit that it drives like a car with half its mileage but i just want to be sure :)
  17. Thanks Alot, I will get that looked into!! I am going to tackle the heating matrix this weekend and will therefore be taking the dashboard out. Is there anything in particular I should look out for whilst I have it off or is there anything that anyone would suggest upgrading whilst I have it off? I am keen to keep it as close to the original as possible but any subtle improvements would be great :) Thanks JP
  18. Hi Guys, Thanks for the quick responses :) Its a 1994 so I have late controls (dials) although i hope it is an airlock as i am not looking forward to removing the dash to change the heather matrix :) Many thanks JP
  19. Hello Guys, I have just entered the world of the VW corrado and need some help getting her all fixed up and good as new. Currently, there are a couple of issues that i would really appreciate some advice on (i.e costs & difficulty) and i sincerely apologise if these topics are covered elsewhere. Problem 1: Heater (a common problem i believe!!) Its only blows out cold air :( If you have it selected to hot, it blows out air at a much slower rate than cold and it is also stuck on Demister setting Problem 2: Headlight switch: The headlamp switch is really fiddly and can cause issues when trying to turn it on and off. Is this is a bit issue or something quick to fix? Problem 3: Sunroof (a common problem): It only tilts and does not go all the way back Problem 4: Steering column: When the steering wheel is at full lock, there appears to be a squeaking sound whilst the car is turning. Not noticable at any other time. Lastly, I have been tinkering my with Girlfriends VW mark 1 Caddy for a while and the bentley manuals are absolutely awesome, however, they appear alot more expensive for the Corrado's. Does anyone have any experiance with the manual CD's that you can purchase from ebay?? Many thanks to anyone that takes the time to answer one of my questions :) Cheers JP
  20. Hi Munkin, I am looking at purchasing a Corrado as a replacement for my X-type Jag that had a very similar issue. The Timing chain slipped off (after 62K) and ruined the engine. After shopping around I got a new engine for £1100 but when he had it out, it was much more cost effective to have the flywheel, clutch, filters and plugs changed. Three days after getting it back, the starter motor went and then it developed a misfire which was due to a faulty ignition coil and a faulty Air flow sensor. All in All the car cost me £3300 to buy (3 months ago!!) and a further 2.5k to get it back on the road. I sincerly hope that you get your car back shortly and I really really hope that a Corrado VR6 proves to be somewhat cheaper and more reliable then my 3L X-type JP
