  1. i think the pump is ok, priming up nicely each time, i will check the pressure tomorrow, how many bar should it be for a valver?. it does playup if i turn off and immediatly start up again, ok for a few seconds and then crap???
  2. wd coming off. i have checked the pipes, as best as i could anyway, what i couldnot work out was why it would run, or not as the case may be, after starting up perfectly, and then just go undrivable. weird thanks gavin
  3. Hi all. Slight problem with my 93 2l valver. Starts on the key fine, idels perfectly for about 45 seconds and then all hell breaks loose in the engine :cry: :cry: the car is backfiring, it sounds like a shotgun from the exhaust wont rev above 2k and the engine looks like it will break the mounts??? :( any advice??? its totally standard bar exhaust. i have given it a good bit of wd40 because i thought i was damp due to heavy rain, done cap arm leads coil etc. got the AA out, the guy used to work for VW and told me he is stumped???? anyone????
  4. unfortunatly not. i have got spare units from ebay, only cost a tenner for both mirrors but i havnt had a chance to change them yet, sorry cant be any more of a help. if you solve this, let me know. andi
  5. i went to the one in cardiff, was full of chavs having drainpipe exhausts. not a very nice experience. i went for a mid sport with a decat and its LOUD!!!! windows vibrating etc, quite nice though. i feel that the car actually went better the the cat on, could be in my head mind, but felt more torqy, of it could just be that the exhaust is so crap and keeps f***ing up that its resatricting /blowing somewhere. nxt time in off to gsf for a brand new cat for £99, legal and i feel better than the decat. you could alsways sell the pipe if you didnt get on with it on ebay mind. personaaly i would use longlife again hope this helps :oops:
  6. ok. thanks david. advice recieved and taken and i will leave it there!!! :roll: if you dont mind me asking what mods have you got in the engine, im new to the 16v after 2 g60s and 2 vr's. i havnt done much to the lump as yet. go a new zaust with a decat and what a waste of time and ££ that was, i drives better with the cat on, and the "longlife" exhaust keeps getting holes, abd they tell me my engine mounts are gone ( despite brand new ones!!!!)

  8. hi all. any advice as to why my elec mirrors dont work ?????? when i got the car they didnt work and i assumed it must be the switch (later style) which i changed, but still they dont work. when i press the dial to move then, a clunking noise is apparent on both sides. ant thoughts? thanks andi
  9. hi guys. just been searching ebay and seen some nice porsche alloys but unsure if they will fit. i have 4x100 and know i need spacers to 5x130, but how do i know if the porsche wheel is 5x130???( unless stated?) and with respect to offset does it matter?? i have seen some that are et55?? would this fit? secondly, my local vw specalist mentioned putting bike carbs on my 2l16v as he had a customer that did this from a 650cc bike, he had to have a manifold made up but what else will i need to do??? ecu, fuel pump etcetc? any help???? cheers

  11. hi all, just got the misses a 2l16v and she craves more power and a nicer engine note so i was wondering if anyone has experience of the badger 5 throttle body kit??? or indeed any other form of throttle body that i could use??( as i cant quite afford the bahn brener 16vg60 kit and extras yet :wink: :lol: ) any help would be great cheers all

    hi mate, mine is doing the same at the moment. i checked both horns and no voltage and the fuse and relay were fine, local vw specialist said remove the steering wheel and you will find a flap of metal, all that is required is for you to bend it so the horn will make a connection, im doing it this week, but the garage said it was a 2 min job ( that for me usually turns into 3 hrs)!

  14. having recently come into a bit of money i need the advice of the forum. basically i want mental power from my vr!! i was thinking gasflowing, K&N, VSR, cams, lightened pullys, cat bypass and maybe taking the engine out to 3litre( but i remember hearing this can be problematic due to valve size and location in the vr engine?) however crusing the web i came across storm developments who offer a stage 3 vortech supercharger kit for £5grand+( seems a lot of cash!). AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TODO :roll: obviously the essentials would be done like new suspension, bushs and mounts etc but if i do end up with over 250bhp in a front wheel drive, would i need to address this with the help of quaife??eg. new box?? lsd etc??? can anyone offer any help? i need the car to be reliable as i want to use it, not just sit and admire it. in the view of the forum which route would be the best??? or could i combine them all??? eg vsr, 3litre, cams & a charger??????? any suggestions?

    didnt think about the cat, its going into the local vw specalists on friday to get hooked up for the sensors to be checked out as well as check on fuel pressure etc as on my g60 i had a problem with the pressure pipe in the tank off the pump that had degraded inside and split causing the pressure to be non existant!! only after trying two new pumps, filters, injectors cleaned, plugs, ecu analyised and partridge in a pear tree!! ended up costing 30p for couple inches of hose :evil: thanks again for the info

    if anyone could offer advice on this i would be grateful i have a 93 vr6 and untill yesterday everything ran fine, lots of power, lots and lots of speed. however!, now the car wont seem to go over 80-90ish, it starts perfectly on the key, no idel problems, but underload it seems the rev counter looks sluggish and the speedo evenmore so. i have a 57i fitted and the trademark roar as the revs build is more like a quite murmour??? the accerlerator pedel seems to feel shorter and even when planted to the floor the car seems super lazy. I have used some slick50 petrol tratment but to no avail and only use optimax fuel. I had a full service(bar fuel filter) 2000 miles ago ( car at 108000) and cant think what the problem could be. any ideas????????

    could someone please clear up this issue for me? i own a nice little vr6 and while on autotrader checking the market prices i saw a number of vr's for sale sporting traction control?, my question is , do they? was it an option from vag? how do you know if you have it? or could it be an after market add-on? cheers if anyone could shed some light on this for me andi

    gringog60, thanx for the info, my g60 had stage four and greeninduction kit with cam and flowed head. i loved that car. :cry: Supercharging is a bit too heafty on the pocket, and turdo even more but your right about the induction kit, the noise is addictive! and i find myself driving it hard just manically grinning as the roar gets louder cheers for the info on the oil cooler, if i go down that route of getting a chip i certainly will get one sorted. :)

    well that does actually make me feel a bit better. would you suggest taking it to vag and getting it on a machine there? down in south wales there dont seem to be many specalists, i think the closest is tsr! thats about 100miles away. any views on chips? wondering if other vr owners have had them? k, i will take your advice and it checked before spending cash, cheers

    having me sold my beautifuly rev happy g60 and moving to the big old boy under the impression that the fabeled vr unit would set me in good stead for some facial rearrangement power i have to conclude that im somewhat dissapointed. im unsure if its in my head or not ,but the midrange speed seems , at the risk of sounding blunt, crap. i understand the logistics of a heavier unit and all that ,and i got the car from an enthusiast with fvwsh and intrim oil change of fully synth every 4000 miles with the engine and mechanicals in good order, but last nite while minding my own business i had a little play with a rover coupe and it was all i could do to keep him at my bumper( i felt unclean and embarresed) I have come to the conclusion that more power is required and it is this point i put to the forum for advice. i have already fitted a 57i and once the expense of xmas is gone , a nice custom zaust, however i still feel more ooomph is required,maybe a chip? so any advice and suggestions would greatly be accepted! merry xmas all
  22. ive always used kingsway vw and audi specailists in swansea for my past four corrados,and more than happy every time! although the outfit is small they know the stuff and happy to do anything from servicing to repairs to conversions, but they can take their time!!!!!! prices are awesome too, example, i supplied all the parts but got pads, disks, cv gaitor, wheel bearing and full service with a stamped book for £30!!!! may not be the norm as i have been using them for years but just a guide. give andy a ring on 01792 585189
