  1. Thanks Dox. I did try removing the bolt and it fits, but agree, wouldn't want to remove permanently. Interesting about pressure, that was now my concern, but was sort of hoping all pumps would be the same. Think I'll chop it if later and see how it goes!
  2. hopefully the 2 pictures are attached here....
  3. Ye will ask, although i suspect they will just take it back as opposed to grinding off the lug. I guess the query is has anyone else used a 2001 era pump? Was sort of hoping this was a common fix as they without be much more common
  4. Hi, looking for some advice... The power steering pump on my vr6 packed in. I purchased a new one from a local parts supplier, and thought it looked the same, but it actually has an extra lug. All other dimensions seem the same. When trying to fit this lug hits the head of a bolt on the alloy bracket. Do you think i can just lop this off?? The new part number is 91128 and dated 2001 so i would assume a mrk4 golf or similar. The old part is 91115 (date94) Thanks
  5. Looking for the above..... Euro parts seems a lot. Cheap ones on ebay which i might try but would prefer original vw. Also looking fit a coolant bottle so if also available would be keen to buy that too. Thanks
  6. Hi, sorry late wings..... Either splitter will work for me
  7. Hello, looking for some rust free wings. Also a splitter with no cracks! Thanks
  8. Hello, looking for a crankcase breather pipe as I have broken mine! Also an antifreeze bottle would be good. Thanks
  9. Hi. Anyone know what size/colour of plastigauge you use for a 1994 VR6? Thanks
  10. It was definitely torqued and angle tightened. It seems suspicious this is the second time this has happened though. one potential is these bolts were re-used which I know is not great but they had only done 400 miles....although I'm not sure if this would cause the problem or if there is a deeper problem
  11. Well I took the sump of for a wee inspection. Some of the con rod bolts were very loose and one of the bearings had moved and is damaged. Crank looks fine though so I'm quite optimistic here. Im just unsure why this would happen and what to do next. Any thoughts?? I am concerned about these oil jets as I don't remember them so might unbolt gear box and see if I can check they are there
  12. Oil galleries should all be clear. Head, block and crank were all looked over and paraffin bathed by local shop. To get it up to pressure engine was turned without ecu connected. Oil gauge was fitted after first time. Was reading 5 bar when running, dropping to 4 as it ran in driveway. On my longer 12 mile run, was just under 4
  13. Cheers. I don't remember the oil jets. Maybe something I never removed. Will look into this anyway
  14. Hello, Fairly new to the forum although have used to for spares over the years. Having major Corrado issues and now reached breaking point! It’s quite a long saga so apologise for the long post. 3 years ago my VR6 engine went wrong, the tensioner went and I decided to rebuild the whole engine with a mate who has rebuilt several VW engines but never a VR6. It seemed a great idea at the time and I thought would make the car bomb proof for the future. The rebuild done, new chains, clutch, piston rings, oil pump, big ends the lot. I kept the car in a garage until spring then started easing in the miles. Whilst in storage I replaced disks and pads and even treated it to SS exhaust. However at 400ish miles…the engine went bang and was making a horrible metal clanging sound. It sounded like bottom end, but dropped sump and nothing looking out of order and I wasn’t sure how it could be. I checked the torque on the bolts I could access but they seemed fine. I tried changing the head (someone suggested a possible blocked oil gallery) and also put in new tappets…partly as it was on the few things not replaced and the noise did sound a bit tappety. But the noise was still there and next time I checked the big end bearings I could see damage. So engine back out this year and I got a new crank and a set of rods (from this forum) and new bearings. As well as new oil pump, bolts, gaskets etc. engine back in, sounded fine, booked in MOT. Changed an ABS sensor, new front calliper and all MOT ready. On the way to the garage, some 12 miles (slight detour) the noise came back. 100% sure it’s the same noise - the big end bearings. MOT cancelled. Car is now sitting back in my driveway. I am gutted…it’s been a slow process and I have ploughed in too much money…but can’t figure how this can go wrong….twice. Once after 400 and once after 12 miles. Would welcome any thoughts or suggestions. I am not sure I can bring myself to try and repair this again….so may have to consider selling. It is generally in good nic and has black leather….so also curious on a value of a corrado in this situation. Thanks
  15. hello, that's my engine out of the car and on the hunt for a new Crankshaft. one of the rods is knackered too. so also looking for 1 of these or the set if possible.....
  16. Sounds good, plenty work for me to be getting on with so I'm in no real rush
  17. Hello, looking for crankshaft for my slow moving problematic corrado project! Probably need to be posted as live in Inverness although travel around Scotland. Thanks
  18. hello EMU, sounds great just what I need. No plans to be in Aberdeen in the next few week but got a mate who lives there....will see if I can rope him into collecting it sooner that that - then I will collect it frim him next time I am over. will pm you to arrange. Thanks for the offer timthetinyhorse, but dont need cams Kenny
  19. hello, I am looking for a cylinder head for my VR6. Would prefer to collect, I live in Inverness, but often in Glasgow and around Scotland. Cheers Kenny
  20. hello, I am having a major headache with a rebuilt engine. I spent months rebuilding, polishing, painting....and was slowly running in. After around 400 miles, something gave way and a tapping sound started. It had lost some power and obviously pulled over immediately. on inspection, the head did not appear to be getting oil, so I took off the sump, and the (new) oil pump found some small pieces of alloy in the gauze. I thought this (although minor) might have been what was restricting the oil getting to the head and put on a new oil pump. (also checked the crankshaft and bearings which all seemed fine). There is plenty oil getting to the head now so that does not apeear to be a problem The sound however is still there I thought it could be the tappets and so have left it runningfor a good while to fill, but the knocking does not go away and increases when under pressure/and I think gets worse as the oil heats up. It sounds tappety and on the left hand side, so I took out the 11 tappets that I could reach easily and they all seem to have oil in them – I refilled them and put them back in. Still the same noice! Any suggestions welcome?? Thanks Kenny
  21. I dont think there is one for a corrado, so its a generic one, but it does fit on a vr6. If you could send your email will send some pics
