  1. VR6 | Midnight Blue | Bridgwater, Somerset Price: £3000 Description: I have copied and pasted my eBay ad below. Unfortunately have to sell my beloved Corrado VR6. 114,000 miles New MOT Midnight Blue Black leather interior Audi TT alloys Full closure remote central locking/alarm/immobiliser system I am expecting that people who buy Corrados are enthusiasts who understand what an awesome car it is, especially the 2.9 VR6 variant. Everyone who knows cars is saying that these will inevitably start to rise in value in the not too distant future, so if you want one then get in now whilst they are still cheap! I had such grand plans for this car but am no longer in a position to fulfil them. There are a few very minor faults that can be easily put right by an enthusiast, but hey, this is an 18 year old car so it will have wear and tear. It is a car just begging for someone to love it and add those personal touches that make it your own. The minor faults are:- Front offside fog light is cracked and not working Reversing lights not working Heater control bowden cable has pulled off the control knob The car is currently SORN so no test drive will be possible, although you can hear it running and inspect it fully in my garage. It has just been MOT'd at Halfords Autocentre, not some dodgy backstreet outfit, so you know it has been done properly. This is strictly cash on collection only. No warranty offered or implied. Sold as seen. Advertised elsewhere so may be withdrawn at any time.
  2. Forgot to mention earlier, I get my kids to put me and their Mum down as named drivers, which significantly reduces the premiums. Assuming your parents have a recent clean record I would recommend trying that too. I have no idea why any of this works - the insurance industry is a law unto itself these days. It's a scandal for sure, but what can you do? When I started driving back in the 70's it was all much simpler, and much cheaper. Somehow we have allowed the situation to deteriorate to today's levels of moneygrabbing *******ishness by insurers - I wish I could think of a solution to get us back to sensible levels of corruption, but successive governments have no willingness to put things right due to the fact that they lead the way when it comes to corrupt practises.
  3. I always find confused.com give the cheapest quotes of all the comparison sites. Can't remember who my insurers are this year (I tend to change every year to get the best deal) but I payed about 200 quid last year, fully comp, wife as named driver, for my VR6. But then I am old with full no claims. Just renewed my 19 year old daughter's policy on her 1.6 Puma for about 650, which is still extortionate but a lot cheaper than many are paying. That was through Elephant. They also do a "bonus accelerator" scheme whereby you pay for 10 months but get 12 months no claims credit. My 22 year old son has just paid under 500 for his 1.8 Golf, slightly modified, with a speeding ticket less than 3 years ago. It always pays to shop around extensively, play them off against each other, and tell them politely but firmly what you think of their fees. I often get something like "I'll just go and speak to my supervisor" and they usually come back with an improved offer. So persevere, and good luck!!
  4. Brilliant, thanks chaps. Ebay has the cables in plentiful supply, some complete with software. Looks like a job for next weekend as this one seems to be nearly over. Appreciate all your assistance.
  5. Really?! That's manageable. Tell me more! Where do I go? (I live in Bridgwater, Somerset)
  6. Refitting the airbox, no problem. What adjustment needs to be made to the damper? The ecu reset with vagcom will defeat me though as I don't have a spare 300 quid to buy one at the moment!
  7. Yes I try to use premium whenever possible. An engineer guy once told me he'd only use regular in his lawnmower! ---------- Post added at 02:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:41 PM ---------- Told you I was an amateur! And when you're my age, the odd 10 years is neither here nor there!

I recently replaced mine with one of these for under a ton http://www.adrad.co.uk/prices/prices.php?id=VW357&model=CORRADO&make=VOLKSWAGEN
  9. Aha! That could be my problem then! The guy I bought it from had fitted a cone filter but supplied me with the factory airbox, so I could just put that back on. I thought cone filters were meant to IMPROVE performance by allowing better airflow, or am I wrong?
  10. Thanks for the replies guys. Now my ignorance and rank amateur status will become apparent! Is the throttle damper the metal cone-shaped thing with a plunger sticking out the top that contacts a small metal roller? I ask this because it looks to me like some sort of damper mechanism, but the part number 021133429A seems to be a small plastic box with two pipes attached, which sits next to the damper thing.
  11. When coming up to a situation that requires me to slow right down or stop, with my right foot on the brake (i.e. no throttle) and clutch depressed, the revs drop right down and the engine stalls. Idling speed at rest is fine, it's only happening when I slow down from speed. A quick turn of the key and it fires up again immediately, but is annoying and embarassing! Any ideas chaps? I have read somewhere there is a specific ECU reset procedure to be carried out after diconnecting the battery - could this be my problem, and if so, what is the procedure?
