Just got my VR back from a VW specialist after about 6 weeks of ownership. Took it in to get the fans, temps etc looked at and also a whiny noise when turning without moving....as well as a general look at to see if anything needed doing. Turned out there was loads to do (wishbones, rear shocks etc) so just got it all done. However nothing was done about thesteering noise (they couldn't hear it) and the fans, temp sensors etc. The only thing done that is related to the oil temps is that I had the oil cooler seals replaced. Since I have got the car back it is reading much higher temps. Drove to London and back yesterday and the oil temp didn't go below 100 and got as high as 116 (generally it was 112-114)...but I was booting it! Does this sound like I should be worried? Is there any explanation why the temps are suddenly higher when nothing has been done other than the oil seals? Is it now giving a truer reading? I also got a stainless cat-back exhaust but can't see that doing anything. What would you suggest should be my first thing to look at? And then the second, third and so on!? Cheers

Looks nice craigowl. Glad to hear that it doesn't sound much different to original...and looks good on the picture. Think it is £40 fitting for mine and fully agree it is worth paying for.

looks nice...looking forward to seeing mine on my car now

ordered from demon tweeks today for next day delivery. couple of quid more for the exhaust but they had quickest postage I could see. Just hope they have no issues fitting it now and it is as standard sounding and looking as people say. I know it will look different but hopefully not too much. Does anyone have any pictures of a Jetex exhaust (oval) fitted to a corrado? Had a search but couldn't find anything.

:cuckoo: hahaha! you can tell I've had a long day today! cheers mate. just gonna order the 3 box from demon or there...whichever has stock and can deliver quickest.

this seems cheap...£313 inc. VAT http://www.vwspeed.co.uk/volkswagen/vw-parts/VW_Corrado_2_9_VR6_from_chassis_50_N_000_0001_Cat_Back_System-2592-355.html anyone know why the same exhaust is £340 inc. VAT on the same page? http://www.vwspeed.co.uk/volkswagen/vw- ... 1-355.html postage says £10 but don't know if this is next day or what. can someone tell me what the difference is please?

I'm in a pickle because I need my exhaust asap. 2 working days is not quick enough for me really...well absolute latest but would prefer next day. Car is in garage and need it by the end of the week. :brickwall: Demon tweeks do Parcel Force 24 for £9.95 on top of the £344.70 price of the exhaust. It is £325 from Tuning Werkes but how much is postage? Shouldn't be bothered and just order from Demon and get the quick delivery.

Cheers. Think the Milltek might be the option. Suppose I need to find out if the Cat needs replacing too...confused! Toss up between these I suppose but will look for the best deal (and delivery dates) when decided: http://www.venommotorsport.com/product_details.php?id=2807&manufacturer=Magnex&category=Exhaust http://www.venommotorsport.com/product_details.php?id=3280&manufacturer=Milltek&category=Exhaust http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?product=3678021 http://dubpower.co.uk/VR6%20parts.HTM http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Jetex-Cat-Back-System-To-Suit-VW-Corrado-VR6-KM-1_W0QQitemZ170469328210QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item27b0c38552#ht_1407wt_921 Any ideas?

Cars in the garage at the minute and had the phonecall that my exhaust is goosed so will need a new one. I wouldn't mind staying OME but I gather this is more expensive. I'm not up on exhausts and do not really know what needs replacing. I think I might need a cat-back exhaust. Can someone explain what I need...is it everything from the cat-back (including the cat)? I will be getting loads of other work done so I don't want to spend loads. I am seeing different deals and the dubpower looks like good value but I don't like the tail-pipe. I want oval and as similar to the original exhaust...both visually and in sound. Any suggestions for a VR6 please and any good deals on the go at the minute. cheers

Cheers GusPW. If the garage I'm taking it to tomorrow is any good they should hopefully know all this. Good for me to have as ammunition anyway! This hasn't happened again so I'm not too worried now. Think I will focus on the steering noise I'm having (CV probably) and the fans for now...just make sure it's all as VW intended.

so how many hours labour should a garage charge? I've had enough of doing my own jobs after doing the tensioner pulley and belt. Would love to but lack of space, free time and resources makes it more trouble than it is worth! I just like to have an idea of the labour costs before the garage just tell me one. Cheers lads!
-
Cheers mate. How much labour for replacing the CV joint...roughly? This Rado is gonna cost me an arm and a leg!
-
wouldn't mind some info on this as my CV boot is split and the longer I sort it out, the more likely I will need no CV joints. How much is the labour for changing the boot or the joint? What has to be removed to do these jobs? Has anyone heard about the ruuber boots that just wrap around and then seal? My mate mentioned them but sounded a bit sus to me!

oing to have try to try that PAS trick...got the same problem but could be the C.V

Yeah my water is normally about 80-90 and 90-104 but that has been with easy driving. I hope they check the temperatures. If not I will have to go to VW who will probably rape my wallet! I'm thinking I may just chage the sensors anyway for piece of mind. Will any problems with the fans be picked up by VAGcom or other diagnostics? I'm being so paranoid it's unbelievable! I'm even starting to think that the car shakes too much when idle. Should you get a little bit of a feeling in the seat when idle? Not like shaking but little pulses. My car sits at the same really low revs when idle (don't even think it reads at anything on the dash!). Cheers Critical_Mass!

I am a bit confused with my cooling system and I haven't ran the checks listed in this thread yet. I think my temp readings may be lying to me. I can drive with low revs and take it easy...and the stage 3 fan will come on with the water about 80-90 and oil 90-104. Popping the bonnet and the engine is really quite hot but I haven't had a VR6 before so I don't know if this is the normal high temps they run at. I have put my VR6 into my mates garage today for a general check-up to see if anything is on its way out. His mate is coming around with his diagnostics gear. My question is will any faults with the sensors and switches show up when connected? I'm not sure what they have in the garage already and what his friend is bringing but I'm sure something will connect to the OBD1 system and they might have a proper VAG-com kit. Will any of these show up the faults with the cooling system? I'm worried that I could be doing damage to the engine because I have had the tensioner pulley and belt go when I first bought it (about 2-3 weeks ago) but replaced that without driving it when it was goosed.
-
Cheers lads! I would be fine if this didn't happen but it has got me paranoid now. The fact that the 3rd fan speed kicks in sometimes when the temp is normal (water about 90 and oil about 100-105) has got me worrying too. I'm assuming it is the 3rd fan speed as it is bloody loud! That's another issue so I'm just gonna get it hooked to a vag-com and a full check-up...then I can chill and open her up a bit!
-
Well all has been fine until today. Drove to work fine (maybe temps a bit high but that's another story!) and pulling into the car park the power steering went again and and stalled (this could have been my fault through the shock of the power steering going and looking at the battery warning light). The car started again fine with no light and the power steering working. I am a bit confused because I popped the bonnet and the tensioner and belt looked OK...but I did only glance cos I was running late for work. Can anyone suggest anything? The tensioner pulley I replaced was in pieces (just the plastic bit) so maybe it has affected one of the other pulleys or something. I haven't done many miles since I changed it all (because I'm paranoid) but have had no problems. Think I am probably best getting it to a garage and maybe having vac-com and an expert eye. Any suggestions from the forum?
-
Done and dusted. Wasn't too tricky either. Cheers for the help fellas!
-
Think I will leave the coolant pump for now (unless it's goosed). How would I know if it was affected...temperatures? I'm hoping the other pumps are fine. Got my parts today (£103 for genuine tensioner and belt in WW boxes through my mate's garage) and got a day off tomorrow so I'm going to give it a go. Can't even really get it to the garage as it is stuck in my drive...too awkward to get out pushing it and don't want to drive it. Wish me luck anyway.
-
cheers. was a toss-up between satin or gloss but I'll go with gloss.
-
What do you think the chances are that my alternator, coolant pump or power steering pump are goosed too? I am hoping the parts will arrive today and I will fit them on Wednesday in my driveway without having to lift the car up or anything. Is there any easy ways of knowing if these are goosed? I'm hoping the tensioner and new belt will go on and sort it but I would rather check whilst I am there. Cheers
-
Does anyone know what finish I should get for the stock black corrado leather in a 94? Matt, satin or gloss? Cheers
-
cheers mate! :notworthy: Keep an eye on this thread or my my newbie one because no doubt I will be asking all sorts of daft questions! It's more out of fear of messing something up...better safe than sorry I suppose but I will try to keep it all to a minimum!
-
Cheers mate. Think my mate the mechanic was going to get parts from here but I can't get hold of him and want to get it done asap. He said he could get genuine parts cheaper than Volkswagen so must be it. There is a gsf shop in Liverpool so I will call them tomorrow and see what exact part numbers it is...I couldn't be 100% sure from their site for a 94 corrado vr6...sure they can tell me though. Hopefully it will all be stocked and I will get it done asap. Do you know what kind of tools I will need just to do this job? Apreciate the help!
