How do i remove electrical metal pins?
Fulltimejunglist replied to Fulltimejunglist's topic in Interior
they look like a set of multi tweezers. aha. Cheers mate much appreciated as at the moment ive got like 6 wires i need to re do. Regards Aidan -
In the plastic plugs which wires go into little metal pins which i asume can clip in and out (One in question is the hazard/indicator/horn etc plus which attatches onto the bottom of the steering wheel) How do i remove the little pins without damaging the plug? Also if anyone knows its numbers 1-7 could anyone help me establish which is the hazards so i can sort a new hazard switch for my mot as the old one in the top of the steering wheel is mullard and gets stuck. I would also appreciate if anyone could tell me what any of the do, think 1 is the horn but im not sure, also i think 7 and 3 are the indicators and im thinking no. 2 is the hazards but im not too sure. Thanks alot, much apreciate the help you lot give me. aha, i dont mean to mentally disabled, i jsut cant help it. Regards Aidan

Easy mate, ive jsut taken the plug off the back of the steering wheel, i know this does indicators/hazards/horn not sure of what else it powers, im currently chaning my hazard switch as the one on y steering wheel (on the top) is usless and gets stuck, ive bought a new hazard switch which im going to move to my dash (Easier acess ad will solve my problem) There are 7 wires all numberd, from what ive found out i think the 3rd and 7th are my indicators number 2 is my hazards and 1 is my horn i think, when i have my hazards on its flickers my sterio on and off whan the lights flash, do you know why this would happen and do you know which wires are the hazard wires which i can disconnect and stick the onto my new hazard switch, also i know this was due to ebing too eager but i cut some of them and if i need to put them back in, how do i remove the metal pins from the electrical plus, so i can put them back in without damaging the plastic plug? Sorry mate, its jsut i know youl have come across these whilst doing this conversion. thanks, regards Aidan. -
aha nice. Also any extra is always good, put your results up when done, intrested to know. What was needed for the 2l bottom end, my mate bought a mk2 once with a 2l bottom end also had a fair bit more but was a nice motor appart from it popped its clogs after being taken round the ring a few times.... aha. I want my car aster but am not sure what to do, seen turbo kits for like £500 but apparently their crap ..... but would be nice as its extra power, aything which will not break as soon as i put it on would be nice but saying that this is a vw we are talking about.

I was going to say dont buy a new battery just disconnect the wire going to the fan sensor as then it wont be on, save undoing the battery etc etc.... If youve got it sorted the i supose its better than leaving it off. Did you end up needing new radiator/ leads / sensor? Id leave the porridge oats alone......

Aha im on the drive fiddling with it quite alot, im suprised youve never seen me. Nice cars both of you, even my mate said they sounded nice (He was on the phone) aha. Ill chase you down next time, see the difference between the 1.9 and a standard valver :) :) :) Should be fun... You live around here or jsut passing?
-
aha tah mate, this will be fun. Are g60 breaks better than mine, obviously they are but is it worth up grading them to g60s or are there better breaks out there for around the same price? I was thinking of porsche breaks theres a few corrados on here with some smart breaks which id imagine stop very well so i wouldnt mind getting a set of them, obviously r32 etc etc Im not sure what needs to fit to be able to use them, (Does the width of the hub make differences, stud pattern etc etc) Sorry its just, you dont know unless you ask so.... ill ask Your all more intellectually charmed with echanics than me. Im learning. Regards Aidan

Cheers people, ill have to try diferent stuff see which has the better finnish, so for i used peek metal polish, seemed to work wanders.
-
Saw a red and black (I think) going towards bassets pole going past my house today, beeped me. Looked fuly nice both one behind the other red one looked smart as slammed on borbets i think. Anyway, id have chased you down but my breakshave stopped working.
-
sweet then, cheers mate should be fairly easy then tbh. Also ound today that im either leaking out of my caliper on the back or out of the break line, break line was very corroeded and the pads ran out and i used it for a while after, which has now stopped any pressure staying in the breaks filled it up and it jsut pisses it back out behind my back wheel... Do you think this could be the caliper and would it also mean that the rubber seal is broken, needing a new one? Cheers Regards Aidan

aha yea ive got them all, when doing them all do i encounter any issues with timing? Cheers

arhhh thisjsut made me feel gutted, i sold my mk1 about 2 weeks ago, due to funds, well due to my corrado breaking, alot. I do miss it, if you didnt love it, you didnt drtive it hard enough, i bloody loved the thing, i will buy one another day and sod show cars, cars have wheels/engines for one thing, stick um on a track - little monsters. Love um, plus you see chavvy retards in their rover 1.8 turbos and can piss on their faces whilst their smile sinks into the pavment as they realise they got owned by a 30 year old car (And realise they bought a rover)...
-
looking nice on those borbets, good colour.

Ive been polishing up my wheels - estorils which i cant be botherd to do again as they took along time as they were pretty shagged when i got them, i cant afford new wheels so theil have to do and they do look fairly smart all shiney. Ill put soe pictures up of them tomorow but i need to know (Before i put the tyre on which should be tomorow/today can i clear coat them after to protect them to save me having to do them again in anohter week or so? cheers lads/ladys

cheers mate, might sound silly but does my stud pattern effect the braks i can have, asuming yours are 4x100 is that what the boxters fit as i thought they were a different stud pattern, ive seen another user with cayenn breaks, 5 stud though, basically my breaks are shocking, i use them quite hard and they burn alot, any better breaks would be nice, wanting cheap silly stoppage aha. Car looks sweet too mate

aha ncie one mate. I did the thermostat and boiled the old one and it poped out so 5er waisted there, i think its actually my belts slipping on the water pup, not turning it thus the over heating problem.. to solve this i think i also need a adjustable PAS bolt which are about £13 from VW, as the person who owned the car before me has left this round as hell so i cant do anything at the moment. Sound for the help mate.

Nice mate, looks nice with those braks hiding in the back, what did you need to get them on and was it a straight fit? any progress on the front, different idea i reacon should look pretty good i would have thought. good luck mate -

"you say drifting is for fools" You read on your own lines mate, as i have said no where i think drifting is for fools, i bloody love it. Hence why i said im getting nacked off with handbreaks on old vws, also why i said i want to get 4 wheel drive, there is all point to getting 4wd, puts power down better when moving, is more fun as you can have a wee play at slow speeds or on a track or toher land of which you want/find. I like vws and want to be able to have a car which makes me feel im driving a proper car and a front wheel drive car doesnt, 4 wheel drive means i keep the corrado and can play without having to get a skyline etc, even though i would want one alot. Cheers for the responses etc, intresting will be reading through bits on how to do it over time, thanks. Also no planning on doing this now, i wanted to know for future plans and im not rich also so have pretty much very limited funds unlike some of us, i also do all the stuff to my cars myself as i cant afford to pay to get it done for me, im 22 and dont spend my life as a mechanic so i obviously lack the knowledge of how to install 4wd into an old car without 4wd, hence me asking. My motives are fair and will hopfully lead to a 4wd r32 corrado when funds and time provide. Regards Aidan
