Camber etc after lowering NOW HOW TO DIY ALIGNMENT!
RowanVW replied to eugopnosaj's topic in Drivetrain
Hiya, well believe it or not, axle stands and string is used all the way up to F1, set the axle stands up outside the car, you need to bars with a suitable attachment such as two screws of the same width for your fishing twine... by setting each wheel exactly the same distance, front and back you create a stable reference points for your adjustments, then by measuring from the front of the wheel RIM, not the tyre and the back you get two measurements, the distance difference is your amount of toe. We used to do it all the time when i was on my motorsport placement and our boss was ex williams F1. Works a treat ;) remember a smaller measurement at the front means toe out in this case -
Camber etc after lowering NOW HOW TO DIY ALIGNMENT!

Hiya mate, 4 x axle stands, 2 pieces of bar and some string will allow you to set up accurate toe settings +/- 0.5mm, i prefer them to laser equipment You will not be able to change your castor angles, it just relates to how far your suspension leans back like this \ you can only change it if you have adjustable top mounts. A camber gauge is quite cheap, will tell you the exact angle of your wheels, but you must measure it off a machined solid part to get accurate results... ive never adjusted anything on my corrado yet, thats done last, but usually loosen a lock nut on the track rod for tracking and go anti or clockwise till you get what you want! And manufacturers settings? what do you want the car for - driving fast? as a daily? -
Corrado 16v Project - Getting it back on the road
RowanVW replied to RowanVW's topic in Members Gallery
Hiya, no worries mate, i know all about being on a budget haha... i've read up massively on carbs and to set them up properly you could do with a friend and a rolling road in my opinion! I'm a bit snowed under with uni work, but in about a week the engine should be completely sorted i hope! =] -

I'm thinkin maybe £250-300 for the whole lot tbh, they are brand new Dellorto Twin 40's but I wouldnt wan't to rip people off, would rather see them get some good use in a Corrado :) -

Corrado 16v Project - Getting it back on the road

Haha yup, im not sure how much they are worth tbh, will do some research but the guy said they were un-used and that the manifold cost nearly £200 alone from Demon Tweeks. Do you rate the 16v's performance as standard? I'm not focussing on performance yet though! -
Hiya, i'm new to the forum too, just thought id say they coolant and oil temp issues could be related, as the oil temp is regulated by the coolant i think? Correct me if im wrong anyone. Would relate to heater aswell, as the coolant warms the heating matrix...

Picked up this bargain of a Corrado, i assume the amount of work that needs doing put people off: Plan a complete overhaul and revamp of the car, to hopefully give me a cheery car that will be my daily driver and look pretty good. The guy who had it before started a load of work and then couldn't be bothered to finish it off, so its been standing for a while. I'll keep this thread updated with pictures and would welcome comments and advice! Few pictures of work and the car so far that speak for themselves: Discs tidy up nicely... Colour change, checking strut brace location and clearances Colour Scheme should be obvious by now: Tidying up the wiring cheaply: Slowly getting there: Dont approve of this, far to stiff and will create understeer/ fail MOT so its going soon: For sale: I wish i had my own rolling road to set them up, but its an added complication I don't have the money and time to make the most of; I also have the custom manifold for them for sale. Busy christmas holidays i feel :)
