  1. That would be unfortunate, I used easy bleed system because I was on my own, did the master then the slave, then pumped pedal, then master and slave again!
  2. Changed the master and slave cylinder and bled the system, still not fixed, what else could it be? I'm just going to bleed the system again just in case.
  3. Nightmare, I hate it when that happens, wet laquer won't sand lol
  4. Yeah was a massive challenge, my girlfriend hates the car because I've spent so much time in the garage lol. Great when it's gets over 4k as I've got a pre-cat car and straight through exhaust!
  5. I'd guess about 25nm maybe, I just put mine on using my hold the centre of the ratchet in the cup of your hand technique, avoids over tightening it because you get less torque from the centre obviously. No leaks so far :)
  6. Cheers, dunno what I would do without eBay lol
  7. Nice thread, loving the mot fail list then that you managed to pass!
  8. Cheers, yeah I know but the car didn't come with a dash or interior, would have been scrapped If I didn't sort it I reckon!
  9. Car has been pretty much finished, passed MOT today, feels fantastic to drive :) Loving it
  10. I've done mine in Alcantara, its pretty tricky and some bits I just couldn't get right! Looks alright though I guess... Give it a go the glue will always clean off if you don't like it!
  11. Well it was badly cracked anyway, so with a few more cracks it came out alright, laminated and plastic edged so it held its shape, the guy said if I hadn't done the work before hand he wouldn't have done it, that price was for the brand new windscreen and fitting!
  12. Hiya, Just done this, I took it out myself using a flathead screwdriver and a stanley knife, then loctite rust killer, red oxide primer, filler then final black hammerite top coat. Guy charged £190 :) was a real mess behind there though so get it sorted before hand!
  13. I saw this! 'Description Great example of this VW classic' I disagree.
  14. Hiya, i've got the one that came with the Golf fusebox, its number 30 though, in position 3... Would this make a difference? I think 109 is for motronic isn't it?
  15. Finished tidying and connecting the wiring on my ABF full conversion running digifant 3 and EFI etc. Car will now turn over, but it doesn't seem to be catching. As i can't hear the fuel pump priming i'm sure this is the issue, now the fuel loom plugs into the back of the fusebox nice and simple except one purple and black wire, which is apparently a fuel gauge wire. However the fuel gauge is one of the things working with the car so that can't be right! I can't see where it might go either... Also coming off the same 'rear wiring harness' are 3 wires which previously went to those white connectors on the Kr engine, which are black + green, white and grey. I havn't got these attached to anything at the moment, the spoiler and other things all work like lights indicators and MFA etc. I have changed the relay in pos 12 (no.167) Checked the fuses The pump was one of the few things working on the KR ironically... Any ideas you knowledgable people out there!?? I'm at a bit of a loss to be honest
  16. we had a golf running about 5 degrees of neg camber, was a beast, you can over-do it though, you lose traction in the straights and when the corner doesn't violently pitch the car over, about 2 - 3 degrees is best all round! toe in at rear gives stability, toe out gives over steer, just imagine the wheels as ski's! good starting point for you is 2mm toe out at the front and 2mm in at the rear. If you wanna get even more serious, using flat patch scales can help you bias the weight for clockwise or anti clockwise tracks by using ballast and lowering the suspension struts individually. Any more info just ask! :)
  17. Hiya, mines widetracked i believe all that is needed is a mk3 golf 5 stud set-up or similar, and just swap the subframes over. What do you mean by adjustable wishbones? Can't say ive seen them before. I would worry less about the wheels diameter and more about the width and tyre type, get them as wide and as slick as possible and you shouldn't see too much gravel!
  18. Haha cheers, I admit many won't like it so far but the overall finished product should be good, black with anthracite wheels im thinking and red detailing. The colour is actually VHT red paint! makes a nice contrast i think!
  19. Update as much for my own reference as other peoples: So with two looms and one fusebox here is whats being kept from what: A1 - ABF - Left light harness A2 - ABF - Right light harness B - N/A Headlight washers C - ABF - Engine wiring and fluid sensors D - KR - Heated wing mirrors E - ABF - Instrument and immobiliser circuit + brake sensor F - ABF - Engine management G1 - ABF - Engine management G2 - ABF - Engine management H1 - ABF - Column harness H2 - ABF - Column harness J - ABF - Column Harness K - KR - Rear wiring harness L - KR - Interior harness M - KR - Fuel harness N - N/A - Air con P - KR - Fogs and heated rear windscreen Q - ABF - Dash misc, lighter and heated motor R - KR - Light switch S - ABF Wipers T - N/A - Euro harness U1 - ABF - Instrument cluster U2 - ABF - instrument cluster V - ABF - MFA W - N/A - ABS X - N/A - Extra warning lights ABS and Airbags Y - Y4 - ABF, Battery Power 30 - Fuel power Z1 - N/A glow plugs 30B - Fuel power Z2 - ABF - battery ground Fusebox - 1 N/A Air Con 2 Rear wiper relay - 72 3 Motronic - 30 4 Load reduction relay - 18 5 Low coolant control - 43 6 Flashers - 21 7 N/A - headlight washers 8 Wash/Wipers - 99 9 N/A - seatbelt warning 10 Fogs - 53 11 Horn - 53 12 Fuel pump relay - 167 So now i just need to tidy the inevitable odd few loose wires and should hopefully start it/ test the loom over the weekend! For those who agree a picture says a thousand words: The situation inside Just part of the leftover wiring
  20. Update: Gave the engine a service first which was straightforward apart from the slight difference between the ABF and KR crank pulleys which is one to look out for when doing timing belts Also i have had to take the whole sump off and buy a new one, the bolt was rounded, all the usual tricks WD40, heat, hammering a small socket on and molegrips + hammer have failed, i even tried turning the whole sump around the bolt in a vice; no joy! Anyway, had to work something out for the airbox as the Golf MK3 one is huge! So by combining parts from both to get the warm air at start up system and air flow meter in I had to do some minor fabricating and it all fits quite well! All of the wiring is in one loom which is nice compared to the Corrado but slipping it down the small gap round the back of the brake servo takes some patience even with the servo loosened completely. So all of the wiring is in at the front and I am currently working the headlights into the ABF loom, I have also used the Golf GTI indicator stalks which are plug and play! Hope to get it started and finish getting the interior loom sorted, when I next get some free time from work and uni! :)
  21. Haha I will buy one when i get the chance! Yeah I couldn't find a clear cut example of it done on this forum, but its done on mk2 golfs quite alot! Should be great if i get it sorted! The engine is in now, just need service it and sort out the loom! Anyone who is interested in this, i swapped the front mount off the KR and the rear bracket from the block and kept the same mounts on the chassis, and the gearbox mounting doesn't need changing at all. Fairly straightforward!
  22. Haha thats great. Cheers, i'll have a read through your thread in a bit, just put it in it was fairly straightforward! =]
  23. Hi, if the wobble is only a noise, it might not be the crankshaft, I thought this was the issue on my polo, but it was the waterpump making the noise, worth a check!
  24. Haha. Just been to hire an engine crane and the weather is looking delightful!
