job done. Saved myself about 50 bucks getting it done at my local garage rather than the VW one. Glad I had it done cos the geezer said it was well gone and wouldn't have lasted much longer  . Anyway got to my destination last night, 250 miles away. She is going strong, my car that is!! Girlfriends got a cold :( . Nevermind, cheers for the help again Have fun Simon

Man that's scary!! Defo the bearing like. Grates like hell when I turn the wheel when jacked up. thanks Simon

Manage to get the car booked into the garage tomorrow whilst at work. Whoopee. He is usually busy as hell. I was a little tempted to get the VW garage to do but after the £42 an hour, two hours for the job, speech I thought NO CHANCE you rip off gits are getting my hard earned cash. So instead getting the local garage to do it. Probably cost me half compared to the stealers. Thanks for the help Simon

Oh well I have plenty of time left then  . The trip will be all motorway driving anyway. I just go a wee bit slower. Only a bit 8)

Had it on the jacks today. To my surprise it aint the drivers side bearing thats gone. Its the other side!! I have been caught out by this before. Bloomin well sounds like the drivers side when I am driving and that fact that it makes the noise when going round a left hand bend! Weird!! Still, least I know what it is now. Got a 500 mile round trip on tuesday to do. Dont have time to get the part and get it fitted. Whats the worst thing that could happen if I dont get it fixed shortly??? Thanks for the help ta Simon

I'll blame you if it leaks then. If you use fully syn. on an engine that's never had it before you always run a risk of it leaking. (see other threads on the subject) . I'll agree its good stuff. ta timo (also know as Simon)

oh well, i shall be glad if its the wheel bearing thats gone, thrumbing noise sounds familiar! hope that's what it is! will check it tomorrow after shooting! cheers Simon Anymore suggestions welcome lose wheels is not an option. I tighten my own, the guys from the garage have trouble undoing them!! ta

oh well might try that at some point over the weekend. Might rule them out of the equation if it aint them. cheers

Doesn't really very too much with speed. Dont think its the wheel bearings. Surely that would be a continous noise which this isn't. Dan: RR day was well good. Really enjoyed it. She only made 183.5 bhp. Very disappointed. She can be very variable on different days and also when its not fully up to temperature. Well like a train on the way home  fun fun fun!!!! ta Simon

Tends to be much smoother running on higher grade fuel especially optimax. Oil: Have just put fully synthetic in my car for the first time (Mobil 1). Have been praying oil week for no oil leaks as sometimes fully syn. can cause small leaks if it hasn't had it in before. I swear by the stuff now. Really smooth and should give better fuel consumption/performance. Hope this helps Simon

Right, here I go trying to explain the noise I am experiencing from my vr6. When going round a left hand corner. (Doesn't happen going round a right hand corner). Ok so when going round a left hand bend and sometimes on the straight if slightly bent to the left I get this funny low thrumming noise. It is not continuous, but a sort of low thumbing. Bugging the hell out of me. No performance effects from it whatever its just annoying me senseless. Any ideas would be helpful. Hope my explaination wasn't too bad cheers peeps Simon

Dont worry, I didn't take offence. It is quite surprising the difference between them all. But if they were all the same it would be boring! ta Simon

Stop being nasty to my car. I am sure that the space I was in had a bump in it!! Think its time I got it lowered :D . After I have had it chipped anyway  . That'll be in about ten years time then. ciao Simon

I had exactly the same problem with my vr6. The thermostat housing was £25 from my local VW garage. I was shocked at how cheap it was. Seals are couple of quid in total. good luck with it! Simon

Hey, here is a list of the cars I have photos of. Send me a PM if you want them sent to you. Listing them by registration, but if you want me to remove yours then give me a shout. Corrado-Forum Scottish RR-day Convoy'n'meet-ups
Timo. replied to vr6storm's topic in General Car Chat
Quality day, I am so glad I decided to go. Car didn't perform as well I had hoped. Only 183.5 bhp (vr6). I still maintain it wasn't warm enough, and the rate I went home at I am sure it has more :D . Still, had a great day anyway. ~6 corrados in convoy (and 1 lotus elan) was an awesume sight. Should have the list of photos I took up by tomorrow night. Anyway I better be off to start saving for the mods I have in mind. Must work harder!! cu Simon (red vr6) -
Just found the Scottish RR thread. Got the price of it. cheers

Can you jusy turn up on RR days. What is the cost? I was going to go out on the ran dan, but realised I cant, having to house sit! . Still I need to save some money to help pay off the car! thanks for the invite, might change my mind, perhaps sda

It cant be the water temp on the dash, cos my water temperature works on my dash. I know that the black sensor is dead, as long as the tests for the blue sensor are the same for the black. Not that bothered really, just curious. Isn't that thing in the oil breather tube a little heating element? Sure I read that in Bentley. cheers anyway sda

In my thermostat housing in my vr6 there are three temperature sensors, yellow, blue and black. I do not have A/C so why is there a black temp. sensor (that is used by the A/C). And, there are wires to it!! I am confused. Checked the resistance of it one day whilst I was checking the blue temp. sensor and the black one is bust. Reads infinte ohms. SHould I be worried about this. Thanks for the help sda

Cant bring myself to travel all that way to AMD just to get my car chipped. I live in South West Scotland. Whats the best company after AMD that you guys would recommend. Superchips?? any good? My local VAG dealership is an agent for TD performance. Are they any good at chipping. Thanks for the input. sda2489
