:D :D :D better off buying one that's done over 100k and has had a rebuild. Its even worth paying a little more for it too, as long as you know the rebuild was done right :? or by a reputable company. timo

Dont know, found it written in some document about the vr6 and though that'll be cool on a sticker stuck to the window. That's how it was written in the technical document:- and I quote..... "The name, VR-6 come from a combination of Vee and the German word Reihenmotor. The combination of the two can be roughly translated as “in-line Vee.” --------------------------------------- More on topic, i've fixed the problem. That bolt on the gearbox that wasn't tightened has now been tightened and there are no more vibrations under hard acceleration. WooHOo!!!!!!!!!!! here's a picture of the little bad boy -
-
sure does, saves alot of space. Supposed to last for ever (i.e. 100K miles) . Chains tend to be ok usually, its the tensioners that you gotta watch out for!! If they wear out and go bye bye..... Boom!!! goes the vr. timo

sorry   ...........anyway even more off-topic............where did you get your stickers from........you know the ones in the rear quarter-lites????? 8) The 'Vee-reihenmotor sechs' ones?? Custom made ma man. Used one of the guys that sells decals on ebay. Not many people understand what it means (obviously I'm speaking about non corrado people and other folk who dont have a vr (golf etc). ----------------------------------------- "Sda, is it a mechanical grinding sort of vibration or does it feel like a high rpm misfire? Which tensioner parts did you have replaced? And what brand of clutch was put in? " not grinding. If I feed the power in gently its not as noticable if at all. Gonna let it settle for a few days before I start giving Star P any phone calls. Dont know what brand of clutch, but most folk seem to use sachs like you said earlier. So, I'm guessing thats what they put in. I also discovered a but on the gear box at the back that was not tightened at all!! So I'm gonna see what its like after tighten that up although I dont think thats the problem. cheers guys, keep the suggestions coming in. simon

oii you pair, you're supposed to be helping me.

Its does tend to vibrate with the car sat still and revving the engine (over 4k). Its much more apparent under load and as you hit the power band. I haven't really gone much past 5.5k incase it all goes wrong. I didn't have the chains replaced but I did have some of the tensioner parts replaced cos they were about to break off!! I get the same kind of vibrations because of the clutch when trying to set off when I haven't fully released the clutch (after releasing the clutch about 30%). Obviously at this speed its not too bad but the vibrations I experience on full throttle seem of the same kind just more apparent and the vibrations have a much higher frequency cheers Maybe the clutch will take a bit of time to sort itself out?!? simon

Just got my car back after head rebuild/new clutch/re-chip. Its running extremely, smooth at low rpm, temendous pick up also. However, when I sink the gas and the rpm approaches 4k and past I'm getting rather bad vibrations through the car. Nothing to do with speed just engine rpm!! Its got me well confused. Goes like a rocket but feels like its going to shake itself apart. The gearbox mount was replaced during the work and I did the front one about two months ago so unless the otherone has gone pear shaped I'm sure they are not to blame. The clutch it very jerky/bity when engaging as its not bedded in yet but surely it cant be cause the problem?!??! Really quite gutted as the car is excellent otherwise. Might check the tightness of the wheel bolts but other than that I am out of ideas. Please help me. cheers simon

RS6 is a beast. No offence but he probably was in sixth gear and never bothered changing. Or, he was a complete donkey and has no idea how to drive. The RS6 hits 60 in 4.5 secs (or there abouts) and certainly wont run out of steam after that. It just gets into its stride then and the warp factor kicks in. Tis a beast. My uncle nearly bought one but decided on a Porshe 911 Turbo (993) with the upgrade kit. 450 bhp!!! A very wise choice   timo P.S. The RS6 is twin turboed  . Mind you, so is the 911. I want forced induction!! :(

If its mint, its not a bad price from a dealer. vr's quite often need a head rebuild around that milage. Just found out myself!!! Very expensive. Worth considering that when buying. As long as it comes with a good warrenty or some kind of back up guarantee then I wouldn't be too bothered about it. Hope that helps. Any more details on it?? i.e. leather, air con timo

What parts are needed for Valve Stem Seal replacement?
Timo. replied to Dilated's topic in Suppliers Forum
you need a tool to get the valve guides out. If I'm not mistaken. How many miles has you vr done chris?? Mine is currently away getting valve stems seals done and alot more. There was many hidden extra problems after the job had been started. If you vr is near or passed the 100K mark I would be very keen on getting a full head rebuild not just doing the stem seals. I'm not trying to scare you, but some of the chain tensioners in mine were just short of breaking off which would have ended up in the chain jumping a tooth and boom!!!!! Just a thought ma man!! timo -
aii, what the hell is that overboost about??? timo
-
but the car makes up for all the bad stuff by giving you the biggest grin on your face, ever!!! (when its working properly) timo

When there is only a mobile phone number, thats usually a good sign their trying to hide something especially when they say "i'll meet you at such and such" , i.e. not their house timo

To Whoever thought they were being clever...,

because brake dust if left for ages like you seem to leave it on for isnt exactly taking care of them....from what ive heard the previous owner of said wheels kept them religiously clean.............what i've been trying to put across is this how do you know this prank has caused the damage to your wheels?............i would assume that the damage corralates to whatever was written on them???.....as for yer valve caps as i said previously i DOUBT very much anyone at the meet would do that..... but blame whoever or whatever for that but dont even try blaming me for yer caps and wheels  as i said to you i didnt know who did it ........as for my car of course i would be p***** off if someone deliberatly damaged it......but again thats the thing.....whoever did do this didnt do it to damage yer motor :!: if anything its been a prank gone wrong....but at the same time i cant see how yer wheels could be damaged by it  ........as for ppl who attend these meets mentality i would say the ppl who are there are sound enough Are you pair going to the RR day at Star P this weekend?? It would be interesting to get you two in a room together     timo -
If you're wanting to go for a blast that 7-10 mins seems an eternity!! :( Worth the wait though  I would say mine takes about the same amount of time timo

true, never really give it much stick anyway. Its away getting head rebuild and chipped. I will be able to change gear sooner now due to a tad more torque 8) timo -

The VR's limiter is set at 6700??? Still haven't managed to hit it yet, although I haven't been far of it  timo -

well its too late to change oil now, its going in this morning. Managed to get a hold of a few more bob too so I think I might just get it chipped whilst its in there. That was my intention two weeks ago but then this problem came along and that idea went out the window. I am only getting it done if he gives me a good deal, mind!!! 8) 8) 8) Think I might put on my brave t-shirt today. Perhaps the 'I AM THE STIG' one shall do  cheers simon
